Tired, hurt, and hungry.
That's all that Xqree knew he felt as he mindlessly fiddled with the random radio he had found, attempting to get it going again. Where he was he had no idea, all he was aware of was that he was in, presumably, grave danger.
There were a few slices of raw beef in his inventory, but it wasn't enough to feed himself fully and restore his health, which was at a measly singular heart. Could you blame him for being so hurt, though? He had just been attacked by a variant of Verity that he had no idea about – and all he wanted was his friend back!
Xqree sighed at the thought.
It had been, what, at least three days now, since Falsity had been his true, conscious self? Ever since the night Falsity warned him of the incoming transformation, Xqree hadn't been able to talk to him. At some point he thought he had, but that wasn't Falsity.
"..Friend?"
Speak of the devil.
"Where are we?"
Xqree slowly turned towards Falsity, who had been placed a few blocks away from himself on the floor, the torch in his hand nearly falling out of his grip. He wanted to be excited, to run up to Falsity and tell him how much he missed him, but he resisted this time, in case his heart was disappointed once more.
Despite this, however, hope still lingered in his chest.
"Falsity?" He asked, taking a cautious step towards the blue assistant.
"How long was I gone for?" Falsity asked, tilting their head curiously to take in their surroundings as Xqree crouched down in front of them.
Xqree hummed, "I don't know.. a couple of days?"
Falsity pursed his naturally frowning mouth, taking in the answer, "Hm.. hmm.. a couple of days? Okay!"
A brief pause took over the two before Falsity spoke up again, once more turning his whole being around to view the area.
"Where are we?"
"I.. don't know, I was kind of hoping you would know? Have you ever seen this place?"
Falsity rambled, mostly to himself, about needing to take a good look, spinning around and humming before deciding on an answer.
"Definitely the End Dimension."
Xqree let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding as soon as he heard the answer, laughing softly before quickly picking up the other, thumbs subconsciously caressing the smooth feeling of Falsity's exterior.
"I don't know why I expected a real response from you – oh, Falsity, I'm so glad you're back."
Though Falsity's face was nothing but a frown, there was no mistaking the joy buzzing within the helper. If he had a heart, he was sure it would be racing.
"You are?" Falsity stuttered, a light blush dusting their (presumed to be) cheeks.
Xqree nodded, "Of course, you're my friend, are you not? Why would I not be happy to have you back?"
Falsity's joy diminished, replaced with a much more honest solemn dullness, the frown decorating their face seemingly much more genuine. Xqree's own smile morphed into a concerned look, recognizing something bothering the helper friend.
Shifting Falsity into his left hand, Xqree shuffled with things in his inventory before placing down some logs he still carried and a fireplace he didn't remember making before seating them both down on the logs. He plopped Falsity down to his right, looking at him with worry.
"Talk to me, Falsity. I have time," Xqree gently spoke, offering a smile to the other.
Falsity didn't respond, nor attempt to shift the sadness lingering in the air, instead staring blankly at the fire crackling in front of them.
Okay, different question then.
"Uhm.. what was it like? When you weren't fully conscious?"
There was slight hesitance, but it was hardly out of distrust, "It was... so lonely. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, and I couldn't see. Everything was so dark."
"Were you-"
Falsity didn't let Xqree interject. Xqree didn't try to a second time.
"I kept thinking... maybe you'd come back. But then I stopped thinking that. Who would want a model like me if I'm just... always wrong?"
"Me. I do."
There was no hesitation to Xqree's response, it coming almost immediately after Falsity stopped speaking. The blue helper turned towards the player, clearly surprised despite their mouth being closed into a firm line.
Xqree didn't think twice about picking Falsity up, holding him in his hands once more. He lifted them closer to his face, smiling once again as he continued.
"..And you were wrong, I did come back. I wasn't just looking for any model, I was looking for you. For my friend."
Falsity, if he was going to, never got to get a word out in response before Xqree placed a quick kiss to the top of his head. Their eyes widened in surprise, a new, genuinely shocked expression overtaking their face alongside a dark blue blush.
"Falsity, you mean a lot to me. Because of you, I'm no longer as lonely as I used to be in my solo worlds. No matter how wrong your answers might be, you never fail to make me laugh, and your company is more than enough to make up for what you're so ashamed of. You're different, and I like that about you, I don't need any model except for you. I truly mean it when I say I love you just the way you are."
Amidst his confession, Xqree didn't notice the trembling coming from the helper in his hands. More concern didn't have time to seep in before a puff of white smoke huffed out of Falsity, making Xqree shut his eyes for a moment. When they reopened, the smoke revealed more than just a simple ball in his palms.
Falsity – a true, human-like, fleshed out version of him – held onto his wrists with a desperate expression, an adorable little tooth gap in the middle of his mouth. His head was still the blue circle Xqree had grown to love, only now there was a body attached. The blush on their cheeks was even more evident, hardly hidden behind a pair of circular glasses resting on Falsity's face (how they were held up, Xqree had no idea, but they were certainly making his blood pressure spike with how cute they looked). A soft, pastel-almost-white blue scarf adorned their neck, alongside a collared button up that had definitely seen better days. Their right sleeve was rolled up, with the left dangling normally at the curve of their elbow, showing off two hands decorated in white bandages.
Xqree could hardly question it before Falsity spoke up, "Tell me that again."
"Falsity, wha-"
"Please," Falsity begged, hands moving to hold onto Xqree's face as he leaped a bit closer, "Say it again. How you feel about me."
The shock behind Xqree's solid white eyes softened into content, along with a subtle yet sweet smugness.
"I love you, Falsity."
The blue assistant shuddered before quickly closing the distance, pulling Xqree impossibly closer. Falsity by no means had anything that qualified as lips, making it a little awkward, but there was enough of something there that it worked. It was quick and it was sudden, but it meant everything to the two of them.
They soon broke apart, gentle breathing huffed onto each other's faces. There were so many thoughts in Falsity's head, so many things Xqree wanted to tell, but words failed them both. The world and the danger faded as the player pulled Falsity onto the log, urging him to sit before initiating another kiss himself, which Falsity quickly melted into and returned tenfold.
It was much more controlled than the first despite there being so much more love put into it, mouths moving in tandem and speaking what common language could not. Xqree shuddered into it, gently holding onto Falsity's shoulders. Falsity only deepened it in response.
If they separated it was only because Xqree needed to breathe, but they smiled (truly, Falsity could smile in this moment) as they gave small, lingering kisses to each other.
Falsity's mouth peppered them all over Xqree's face, trailing to his jaw as he mumbled, "You've shown me nothing but care since you found me."
A kiss.
"You're so gentle."
Another.
"You're patient."
And another.
"You want me for me."
And another, this time hot and opened mouthed on the side of the player's neck.
Xqree gasped, face heating as he brought Falsity back up. Not because he didn't like it, not at all, but rather because this was, alas, not the right moment for it.
"Falsity, my gosh," He stuttered, smiling nervously.
"I love you, too, my dear friend," Falsity concluded with another lingering kiss to Xqree's mouth.
The player only laughed wholeheartedly, bringing his helper into a tight embrace, a distant roaring reminding him of the truth of their predicament. He ignored it for another moment, happy to hold and have Falsity in his arms once more, completely this time.
Falsity no longer feared Xqree's perception of them, now knowing better than anyone how deep his fondness was, and he wanted nothing more than to drown in it.
Xqree was happy to let them both swim in it.
