Chapter Text

Yoongi really should not have been surprised when he heard knocking on his door at three a.m.. Neither should he have been surprised to see it was the taller brunette. In all honestly he really wasn't surprised, and maybe that's why it was instinct to move over and just let the boy into his small apartment.

There were no words spoken just two boys, men, more realistically some happy medium between the two, walk through the living room, past the kitchen and down the small hall entering the door straight forward, instead of the one to the right where Yoongi's room mate, Namjoon, was probably sleeping like any normal human would be.
Taehyung and Yoongi weren't exactly normal human beings though. Taehyung was a boy who just started university two years ago, where ultimately he met Yoongi, because Jimin had a fondness for the elder's music productions and might have one point sheltered an unrequited crush on the boy but had long since moved his focus to Hoseok, a boy in his dance class. Taehyung also had a very hyper vibrant personality and it was a known fact that on most days you could catch him getting into mischief with his sidekicks, Jimin and Jungkook, who each declare that he's more of a sidekick than either of them.
Unbeknownst to most Taehyung had his own inner struggles. The happy exterior wasn't completely false but it wasn't also one hundred percent real. He had always struggled with the need to be around people who made him feel loved, because at some points in his life he was only surrounded by negativity. So he has a habit of being overly friendly to try to earn friends, but some people saw that as a bad thing causing him to experience rejection more times than probably necessary.
Yoongi on the other hand was just Yoongi. He was going to school for one of the few things he found himself able to be passionate about and along the way he met Namjoon when they had to work together on a project. With Namjoon came Seokjin, who for about two years was Namjoon's "secret boyfriend" until one day Yoongi walked in on them making out, with Seokjin came Jimin, who became his own personal fanboy, and along the way Taehyung, Hoseok, and Jungkook joined the group everyone adding a special trait to their somewhat dysfunctional gang.
Other than school Yoongi was basically a hermit. He was extremely introverted by nature and had only ended up with the people he calls his friends by pure luck. He was prone to locking himself away for days to work on his music, his only communication with the outside world being Namjoon communicating that Yoongi was in fact still alive. Yoongi had no idea why he drove himself so hard when it came to producing, other than it gave him something to do, a purpose of sorts, and without this purpose he wasn't sure what to make of life or himself.
After all of that it might seem weird Taehyung showing up to see Yoongi out of everyone else in their group considering he could have went to Jin who was the eldest and when he wasn't making old man jokes seemed pretty wise, or Jimin his best friend since the beginning of time itself who was one of the most caring people alive, or Namjoon who would shout philosophical into his soul and cause Taehyung's current existential crises to stop only to start again with the newfound thoughts, but Yoongi is where he always found his solace.
Late nights when sleep just could not find it's way to his being he would slip on his slippers, drape his blanket over his shoulders, and drive the fifteen minute drive to his hyungs' apartment. The first time he had intended to go over to talk to Namjoon because he seemed like the best person to find advice on why he couldn't sleep but his slightly intimidating mint-haired hyung had opened the door instead looking ready to kill whoever was at his door. "What are you doing out this late with only a blanket on? Are you trying to die?"
"I needed to speak with Namjoon hyung," Taehyung says with a shiver from being reminded that he was out in the winter weather.
"He's at Jin's house doing whatever the hell those two get up to when they're alone," Yoongi said dismissively.
"Oh alright. I will leave then," Taehyung says turning to go back to his car.
It must have been something about the expression he had made with his face or maybe the tone of voice he had used that made Yoongi sigh, "What did you need Namjoonie for? Maybe hyung can help instead."
Taehyung turns around, with a box like grin on his face, before hugging the elder tightly, "Thanks hyung." Yoongi lets him hug him but doesn't make any move to hug back, because somehow he was boy uncomfortable and content with his guts being squeezed out by Taehyung.
"Alright enough of that. Come in before you freeze to death," Yoongi says taking a few steps back into the apartment trusting that the younger boy will follow after him. The younger boy was apparently predictable because that's exactly what he did making sure to close the door gently with his foot.
He followed Yoongi to the older's bedroom where he looked to have been working on something. "Let me save this. Feel free to lie down," the mint-haired boy says offering a small but still sweet nevertheless smile.
Taehyung watches his friend click some buttons, perhaps saving all of his work properly, before powering down the desktop on his desk. He joins Taehyung, after slipping off his jeans, under the covers. A silence fills the space between them for what could have been a couple minutes or quite a few before Yoongi lets up, "What did you want to talk about?"
The sound startles Taehyung causing him to jump slightly, "I haven't been able to sleep much lately. I though hyung would know how to fix it."
"Ah," Yoongi says regretting the decision to allow Taehyung to stay because he had no idea how to help the boy next to him.
"My brain just won't stop sometimes, hyung. It keeps going at the speed of light and I try to shut it off, but it won't stop," Taehyung says starting to sound desperate.
Yoongi knows the feeling all too well, having stayed up for days on end trying to perfect a piece of work knowing that he won't be able to rest until it's complete, but even with that he's not sure how to ease Taehyung's mind. So he does the only thing he can think to do which is to role over to his side and wrap an arm around the boy loosely.
"Tell it to take a vacation. Tell it you both need rest," Yoongi says dryly trying to make the boy smile and succeeding in his quest.
"My mind said hell no," Taehyung says.
"I should have known. Minds are quite stubborn things."
"What if my mind did listen and took a vacation? What would happen to me?" Taehyung asks causing Yoongi to roll his eyes fondly. He played along though hoping that eventually Taehyung would tire himself out and drift off to sleep. That happened in the middle of a conversation about whether Jungkook would win a fight with a bear or not.
Yoongi had been explaining why the bear would win and when he had looked down Taehyung was asleep with a small smile on his face. Looking down at the boy made him realize how close they had moved together during their conversation which also made him realize he didn't entirely mind all that much having the younger boy in his arms. Since that night though Taehyung would always come see his Yoongi hyung whenever he needed help falling asleep and even after he started taking medication to help him switch his brain off he slept better in his friend's arms.
The late night conversations and many sleepovers had help the boys become closer and learn more about each other. Yoongi learned about Taehyung's insecurities about people leaving and needing to feel comforted, and Taehyung learned that sometimes Yoongi felt the need to give up on everything, but they both learned how to help each other through it. Becoming so close did result in problems though like falling in love with your best friend.
Somehow both of them had caught feelings somewhere along the way and were both too chicken to admit it to each other. With Yoongi always on Taehyung's mind though he had began to not be able to sleep well anymore even with taking the pills. He decided tonight he had to do something about it though causing him to drive over to Yoongi's house hoping the man was still awake.
Now here he stood in the man's bedroom awkwardly watching as his friend pull the covers back and get under them. It took Yoongi a second to notice that Taehyung was still standing in his doorway eyeing him carefully. "What are you doing? Come to bed," Yoongi says still slightly agitated that he had been woken up.
Taehyung lets his feet lead him to the bed, carefully pulling himself over Yoongi to get to his usual side of the bed, the side pushed to the wall, and get under the covers. He lies down facing away from Yoongi his own annoyance growing in his stomach because Yoongi honestly had no right. Especially when he made him feel this way.
"Have you been taking your medication like you're supposed too?" Yoongi asks not noticing Taehyung's change in demeanor.
"Yeah," Taehyung says through gritted teeth.
"And you're still not able to sleep? Maybe you should talk to your doctor and find out what's causing this," the elder says starting to feel concerned about the boy.
"I know what's causing it," Taehyung says.
"Oh?"

"It's all your fault, hyung," Taehyung says quiet but with sharpness to it.
"Taehyungie, what are you saying?" Yoongi asks pulling on the younger boy's shoulder so that he's facing him.
"All I can think about all the time is you. I think about you all day when I'm at school and should be listening to my teachers, when I'm at my job and should be working, when I'm playing games and should be winning and then when I am able to sleep I dream about you. It's not fair, hyung! Why did you have to do this to me?" Taehyung asks getting louder as he goes.
"I don't understand," Yoongi says surprised at the yelling.
"Of course you don't. How could you? I mean I'm the one in love with you," Taehyung says covering his face with his arms. Yoongi is silent for a moment trying to figure out if he registered what Taehyung had said correctly. Upon coming up with no other possible thing the boy could have said he sighs causing Taehyung to start to roll over again. He grabs the boy before he can move and removes his arms from his face.
"Did you just say you were in love with me?"
"Please don't hate me. I didn't mean to," Taehyung says trying to escape once again.
"Ah stop it. Calm down kid, I love you too."
"I mean-," Taehyung starts.
"I know what you mean, Taehyungie," Yoongi says holding back the need to roll his eyes. "And you didn't need to act like such a brat earlier. It's not my fault either that you fell in love with me. However I don't blame you. I'm pretty handsome if I do say so myself."
"Shut up," Taehyung says giggling causing him to get shoved.
"Show some respect. I'm still older than you."
"I don't respect you though, hyung," Taehyung says contradicting himself.
"Nevermind I take it back. I don't love you anymore," Yoongi says turning away from the boy causing another fit of giggles to erupt from the taller boy. He feels the boy boy snuggle up next to him and nuzzle his head into the crook of his neck.
"No take backs. You are stuck with me forever now," Taehyung says smiling at the dramatic sigh that escapes the elder's lips.
"What did I do in my past lives to deserve this?"
"I don't know. You must have been a saint or something."
"You think you're that great don't you?"
"No, I just think you're not that great."
"You're just asking for me to kick you out of my house," Yoongi threatens both of them knowing he would never be able to throw the younger boy out of the house. Which shows how whipped he already is because he once locked Namjoon out for exiting out of his program without saving.
"Hyung, can I kiss you?" Taehyung asks causing Yoongi to turn around and face him.
"I'm sure you can," Yoongi says causing the other to chuckle nervously and lean in slightly so that their noses were touching. Yoongi shifts his head a little when he thinks Taehyung might not have the guts to actually do it, but suddenly there was no space between them and he felt a soft pressure on his lips. Neither of them moved for a moment both surprised that they were actually doing this but Yoongi eventually made the first move and Taehyung soon followed after.
They didn't pull back until they both were needing to breathe. The room was filled with soft little pants and loving gazes between the two. "Can we do that again sometimes?" Taehyung asks awkwardly causing Yoongi to smirk.
"I don't know. I might need to check my calendar," Yoongi says right as Taehyung starts to yawn. He pulls the younger closer to his body pressing a kiss to his forehead gently, "I'm sure I can fit it into my busy schedule."
"I want weekends," Taehyung says in the midst of another yawn.
"I think I can work with that. Now go to sleep, baby."
"Can you always do that?"
"Do what?"
"Call me baby."
"Okay, baby," Yoongi says fondly running a hand through the boy's hair.
"Wait I need you to be my boyfriend before I sleep," Taehyung says right before he drifts off to sleep barely being able to push his voice above a whisper.
"Alright, I'm your boyfriend. Now go to sleep, my baby," Yoongi says pushing Taehyung's head into his chest and softly petting him until he drifted off to sleep. After all it might have been Yoongi's fault that Taehyung couldn't sleep but he was always his cure.
