Work Text:

Violet's mind has been a constant haze for the last hour. She has no idea where Imogen was taking her especially since the battle was still happening. Flying over the mountains and hill Violet couldn't help but feel as if she was abandoning her friends and she would never be able forgive herself if something happened to them, but the way Imogen said it was it was so urgent Violet couldn't ignore her plea.

"Where are you actually taking me," Violet said, but as soon as she said that Violet caught sight of the dimly lit ancient building ahead. Tairn landed just in front of the building and Violet looked up at the building with two towers twisting around each and large oak door with dark floral motifs and a dragon carved into the centre. That's when Violet heard Xaden's voice through the bond. "There you are Violence." His voice sent a shiver down her spine and Violet felt a a great sense of anticipation washed over her.

"Come on, we're already late, we were meant to be here fifteen minutes ago," Imogen yelled from the ground. Violet looked at her confused. What could she possibly be late for in this situation? She climbed down from Tairn and walked over to Imogen and that's when Imogen handed her a veil. "WAIT, What's going on, am I getting married?" Violet said looking at the ancient building that is now starting to look a lot more like a church. "Well" said Imogen putting the veil in my hair "I thought it would be pretty obvious by now". Violet felt a sudden rush of happiness which didn't last long because Violet then thought this wouldn't be happening unless something has gone terribly wrong.

With a sudden panic feeling, Violet stormed into church. Violet was stunned by the amount of candles in this church. Candles hung everywhere and it was the most beautiful thing Violet had ever seen and with Xaden standing there in the centre of it all, Violet felt the dread she was trying to supress overcome her. Even from here Violet could see his red eyes from where she stood. She slowly walked toward Xaden as she tried to hide the tears falling down her face. Xaden's eyes were no longer the distinct dark colour and as she walked closer Violet could barely see the gold flecks. They were gone.

Standing at the alter next to Xaden, Violet could see the sadness in his eyes. "Why? I thought you had it under control," Violet said sobbing. "I know, I'm sorry, I've let you down," Xaden whispered. Violet cupped the side of Xaden's face and said "Let's get married should we".

The priestess stepped up and cleared her throat "Do you Xaden Riorson, Duke of Tyrrendor take Violet Sorrengail to be your lawfully wedded wife". "I do, with all my heart," said Xaden. "And do you Violet Sorrengail, daughter of Lilith Sorrengail take Xaden Riorson to be your lawfully wedded husband". "I do," sobbed Violet. "So then without any objection and your witness present, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you can now kiss your wife." Xaden kissed Violet as if it was going to be last kiss they'd ever share. Xaden pulled back just a little and smiled at Violet and said "Do you want your ring?" Violet was left speechless because even though the wedding was rushed, Xaden had still found the time to find her a ring. Violet just stood there for a second before slowly nodding her head still to stunned to speak. Xaden pulled a gorgeous gold ring out which had a huge emerald sat at it's centre. "This was my grandmother's ring," Xaden said sliding the ring onto Violet's ring finger "and now it's yours."

Xaden kissed Violet again and then Violet said "So, where should we go now?" Xaden pulled back and said "Not us, you".

"I'm going to go far away and try and find a cure for this, and come home to you so we can be a proper husband and wife," Xaden said kissing her ring. Violet couldn't quite understand what she was hearing. What did he mean he was going without her? They were meant to do this together. They were meant to be a team. "No, I'm going with you, we can figure this out together," Violet cried.
"No Violet, we are now married, you are the Duchess of Tyrrendor and our people need you," Xaden said. 'Our people' it hadn't occurred to Violet that she was now a Duchess. How was she going to do this? Would the people even accept her as their Duchess.

"Violet I have to go now," Xaden said with a tear rolling down his face. "No you don't have to go, please don't go," Violet begged. Violet kissed him again desperately hoping that she could change his mind. "Violet, you have to let me go," Xaden said walking away. No why was he walking? "Xaden please don't go," Violet cried running after Xaden, but she was blocked by a black wall of shadows. Violet climbed over the chairs on the other side of the aisle to get round the shadow wall. "Xaden please," Violet cried but he didn't even look back. Violet continued to chase after Xaden but when she had almost reached the door, Imogen stopped her. "Imogen get out of the way!" shouted Violet. "I can't do that Violet, please don't make this more difficult than it has to be for him," Imogen said over Violet's cries. Through Violet's blurred vision she could see Xaden fly away with Sgaeyl.

"Imogen I don't want to remember this, please take it all away." cried Violet. Violet stared off into the distance hoping to catch a last glimpse of Xaden. "Please just take it all away," Violet sobbed.

Then it all goes dark.
