Work Text:
Jinx was tinkering at her office… well it was technically Lux's office, but she wanted to keep her partner company. Her girl actually prefers to watch her work on anything, and of course she likes to put on a show for her like a good partner! Lux admitted she feels more at ease when she hears Jinx tinkering at her very own desk because she was a little scared of letting her out of sight. Any normal person would think it's an obsession, but Lux didn’t pay much attention, maybe she was just into Jinx, and her partner seems to like the attention, so it was a bonus.
They've been busy for the past few weeks because of the Light festival. Lux was handling the meetings while Jinx was checking out shipments. They rarely get any alone time, and would only cuddle at night, both savoring each other's warmth. Jinx was a cuddle bug, always sleeping on Lux's chest just to listen to her soothing heartbeat. The light mage would always hold her close, give small kisses before passing out. Jinx looked at her partner reading and signing some documents, debating whether to bother her or not because she likes how adorable her Sunshine is when she's in her focus mode. As usual, Lux didn't need to look at her to sense she needed something. That's how much she loves her, how she had called Terbasia her home ever since they fell for each other.
“Love, is something wrong with the parts?” Lux asked, putting down the documents, and didn't bother asking Jinx to sit on her lap, when she felt her lap being occupied by her favorite person. Jinx was hesitant at first and sighed when Lux wrapped her arms around her waist and kissed her forehead, which had given her courage and shown her a copper flare, a homemade one.
“Nah. Just wanted to give you this.” The governess could tell this is taking some courage out of her beloved, she loves making things for her. Judging by the tone of her voice, she was working hard for this, and she would never make fun of her partner.
“Stinky Chains got me thinking.” Lux snorted at the nickname her beloved had thought of for Sylas. It took some time for him to get used to it, he did like the chaos Jinx brings whenever they cross paths in Demacia.
“If those Seekers come knocking on ol’ Terby and I'm not here.” Jinx raises the flare and points at the string attached at the bottom.
“I want you to light it up. I know you have that shiny pretty light, but this… I want you to use it in case they put petricite on ya.” Lux nods and takes the flare; she wasn't wrong. They both know the Mageseekers wouldn't give up until Terbasia falls.
They are waiting for an opening, and Lux refuses to falter. She had assigned scouts to watch outside, and Jinx was one of the hunters of Terbasia. Winter is fast approaching, and Jinx makes sure that Terbasia has enough food to last the season. It'll be cruel for the mageseekers to try and ambush them.
“Light it up and I'll come find you. No matter how far I am from you, I will always look for the blue smoke. I promise you that.” A painful promise, one that involved her past, but this is her partner, and she wanted to protect this miracle.
“I'll be counting on you to take the petricite off me. I don't want you to hold back on taking them down. Do what you have to.”
Jinx does a finger gun, and Lux nods her head. “Kill them if you have to. I’m counting on you, love.” Oh, she loves this woman to death. Jinx immediately captures her partner's lips onto her own, and Lux wraps her arms around Jinx's waist, deepening their kiss. Letters were forgotten, both pulled back for air, and Lux nuzzles her beloved's cheek. She loves this woman like crazy, and that's not so bad.
The Mageseekers are cruel, there's nothing new to that. They had planned to ambush Terbasia the moment the Hunters left the town to bring back food for the winter. The mages in the town weren't fighters, but they still tried their best to protect her. She would never be angry with them, they had tried, and that was enough. She was captured in petricite chains wrapped around her wrist to weaken her.
“Any last words, pest?”
The man pointed his staff, a wide grin on his face as he watched the light magic fade away with the use of petricite chains to the once called Crownguard. The seekers flinched when Lady Light started to laugh hysterically, like she was going insane. The citizens of Terbasia knew not to question what Lux was doing. Only, they laughed with her. The seekers were stupid enough to do this. They had it coming.
“SILENCE, YOU FILTHY WENCHES!”
“HAHAHAHAHHAHA!” Eyes glowing like light until she was kicked in the stomach to stop this madness. Lux coughed blood and took the hidden flare and looked at the seeker in front of her and gave a manic look.
“SMILE!” Lux pulled the string of the flare and raised it, blue smoke emitting from it.
The mageseekers around her mocked her action, deeming it useless to call for help because they came prepared to take down other mages. They didn’t notice one of them was being dragged inside the bush and died silently. One of the mageseekers had time to call out for help before dying, at the same time, the citizens were being freed by the Hunters. The head of the Mageseekers screamed in terror as a pair of pink irises was getting closer and closer, then suddenly it disappeared into the darkness. Lux felt the chains being removed from her wrist, and she weakly looked to her left to see her favorite color staring at her.
Jinx gave her a short kiss and whispered apologies that she couldn't make it in time as she gave kisses on her wrists. Lux slowly regained her mana inside her and summoned her staff. Jinx smirked and used her shimmer speed to hold the leader of the Mageseekers still. Lux levitated in the air, staff spinning in the middle, her eyes glowing like golden rays of sunshine.
“ME-MERCY!” The seeker begged.
Jinx knew Lux wouldn't do it. She just wanted to show the Mageseekers what the mages are capable of doing when they want to invade Terbasia again. Lux sighed and levitated down, watching Jinx let go of the seeker, crying in terror and running away. Pretty sure he was traumatized by the color pink.
