Jinx was pacing back and forth for the past five minutes outside the bathroom of her shared home with the love of her life. She got her familiars to check up on Lux, and all she heard was Kuro’s worried meeps and Shiro’s reassuring chirps. The red guardian snapped out of her thoughts when Mimi purred to soothe her worries and nuzzled her neck, as if saying her wielder is going to be okay. She remembered waking up to Lux trying not to gag, getting off the bed, and locking herself in the bathroom. She wanted to comfort her, but Lux couldn’t hear her knocking.
Behind the bathroom door, though, Lux was sitting on the bathroom floor, holding the pregnancy test. It showed a positive symbol on the test, and she’s been looking at it for a while. Shiro plopped himself on top of Lux’s head, confused as to what device the guardian was holding while Kuro was on Lux’s lap, nuzzling her stomach, as if already sensing something inside her. They haven’t really had the time to talk about wanting a family. She remembered the flames during intimacy were memorable and romantic because Jinx planned on making it romantic for her. It was too memorable, this is scary… yet she’s ready. A new chapter of their life together, and they heard too many stories about this step, terrifying yet exciting.
Tears dripped onto the floor, and she laughed in happiness. She was carrying Jinx’s child, and she must tell the news to her. Shiro sensed Lux’s request before she asked him a favor; he floated towards the door and used magic to open it. Jinx immediately burst through the door, but not too loudly to scare her wife. She was holding Mimi in her arms, and she went down on her knees to check up on her wife.
“Baby, are you hurt? Are you okay? Do you need water? I’ll carry you, don’t worry!” Jinx rambled as she was about to carry her when Lux held up the pregnancy test that showed positive.
“I-I’m pregnant!” Lux sniffled, smiling still while looking at Jinx with love. The red guardian’s brain gears were still, looking at the test and back at her wife. Her arms began to shake as she didn’t hold the test, but rather, cupped Lux’s cheeks and wiped her tears.
“We’re…” Too many thoughts were spreading across Jinx’s mind, but her own tears formed and she laughed along with her wife.
“We’re going to be parents, honey!” Lux giggled as Jinx started kissing her around the face. She wrapped her arms around her wife’s neck and glowed at the affection she was receiving. The pink guardian gasped as she was lifted off the floor and carried by her Honey like a princess.
“I’m going to be a dad!”
“I’m going to be a mom!”
They stared at each other for a while, and both shared a messy yet beautiful kiss. Shiro and Kuro did their usual chaos chittering, flying around them while Mimi squealed in joy at the news. Lux’s fears vanished when Jinx was this excited and gave her kisses around the face again; she couldn’t contain her happiness.
Jinx wasn’t letting her do chores ever since the news came out. Shiro and Kuro helping with the chores weren't anything new, but they seemed to cutely push Lux away whenever she tried to help redecorating the house. In fact, her wife kept eyeing on her belly then telling her to just sit down and look pretty by the couch, that was enough motivation for her to finish the chores. Lux did find it annoying but couldn't help but swoon when she was oogling on her wife's back muscles when she lifted the coffee table for her guns to clean the mess.
Of course, her wife noticed and tried to make her feel better by trying to flex her biceps like what her sister does to Detective Kiramman. Lux rolled her eyes but still had this goofy smile on her face. Being overprotective wasn't new because back then, she pretended not to care but did care in her own way.
“Luxie.”
“Yes, hon?”
“Is it too early to buy a crib?” The pink guardian hummed in thought. She does like to plan ahead of time.
“We can try to find-”
“Wait, I think a baby carrier should come first? Toys could come last, but wait wouldn't our kid want to have toys first?” Jinx began pacing back and forth, Shiro and Kuro floating behind her with their usual chirps. She’s scared, and that was normal. Gwen told her about her pregnancy journey, and Poppy also did the same.
She stood up and cupped both her wife's cheeks, making Jinx stop with the pacing, and looked at her wife with worry. It finally took Jinx to realize becoming a parent is pretty scary, she closed her eyes when Lux leaned in to kiss her forehead. She held both of her wife's wrists, and tears started coming out of her eyes.
“I-I don't kn-know why I feel like t-this, Sunshine… I'm scared th-that our kid…” She opened her eyes and saw that she was crying too. They both felt terrified but wanted to have a family at the same time.
“I don't know what I could do to make you feel better, my love, but I want to tell you that we got this together. Our child will grow up full of love and chaos, no matter what happens, we have each other.” Jinx sniffles and wraps her arms around her wife. Shiro and Kuro floated around them while Mimi decided to plop herself on top of Jinx.
“Yeah… we have each other.” Suddenly, all her worries disappeared, her wife always knew how to comfort her, and she’d do the same. She loves her so much, and she is ready to face whatever void or nemesis comes in their way.
Do not ask why Jinx has heavy eye bags and in her shark onesies as she enters the convenience store. Lux had woken her up at 1 am for an ice cream dipped in hot sauce with barbecue sauce, their baby is weird as hell with that combination but then again, she had eaten a combination of those before. Of course she didn't blame Lux for this, she's carrying a life inside her belly and she could wake Jinx anytime she wants. Jinx had given Lux exactly 10 sweet kisses before leaving the house so Lux would be reminded that the red guardian loves her so much.
The cashier saw her face and didn't question anything. Smart kid. Jinx went to the section of what Lux wanted, she also had reminded her the exact brand, the ice cream, the chips, and the sauce she needed to eat. Damn, this kid of hers is specific with stuff, just like her. She’s going to be the best dad ever for their daughter. She puts the stuff at the counter, and the cashier was so smart not to question this weird ass combination. She went home on a successful mission, then she received a text message from her wife, saying the baby also wants a burger full of pickles with ranch sauce. Jinx immediately changed routes and went to Wacdonalds for the request.
She placed her order at the drive-thru, and she tried not to laugh as the employee could be heard hesitating by the weird order. She told the employee that her wife was pregnant and the order was for her and not for whatever food challenge she was trying to do like those fake influencers. The employee chuckled, understanding the context of the order. She tipped the employee after she took the order and drove off home.
Lux was watching a seahorse documentary on her wife's laptop and suddenly cried so hard because of how the seahorses loved each other forever. It just reminded her of Jinx and she misses her so much, even though she gave her kisses before leaving. She can't help but remember the time they took the oath, their hardships together, their fights that almost broke her, and how they started dating. The bedroom door opened, and Jinx had mixed the ice cream she had requested and the paper bag from Wacdonalds.
“I'm home, Strawberry shortcake.” Jinx sat next to her and kissed her cheek, putting the bowl on Lux's lap as she wiped her tears from that gorgeous. She looked at the laptop and giggled at what her wife was watching.
“We-Welcome home, darling. I'm sorry you had to wake up from my cravings.” Lux sniffles, eating the ice cream first before the burger.
“Don't apologize, Luxie poo. You're carrying our baby, I'll fly across the galaxy to whatever you need, even if it's void guts.” The guardians shared a sweet kiss before watching the documentary together. Jinx pulled her wife close to her side and let Lux feed her the chips that had ice cream in them.
Kuro was protective of Lux, he even bit Jinx when she tried to touch her wife's belly. It also happened to their friends, his favorite chew toy was Ezreal's arm when he tried to touch Lux's belly. Jinx recorded the whole thing, laughing so hard as Ezreal was running around being chased by Shiro and Kuro. As funny as it is, she could feel Lux glaring at her and not in a cute way, it was the leader-mode glare. Kuro has an exception, he really liked Soraka. When the shy guardian was checking on Lux, he was flying back and forth at whatever Soraka needed, then got some poro treats as a reward. The pink guardian smiled, she knew why the gun was acting like that. Jinx was comfortable around Soraka, the only guardian who doesn’t make snarky comments. Though she did think it was funny that her wife’s guns were trying to chase Ezreal again around the house.
Lux was lying on the bed with Kuro on top of her belly while Shiro was purring on Lux's left cheek. Mimi was sleeping on her poro bed, matching the energy of her wielder. Jinx entered the room with Lux's favorite cake and smiled at the sight of her wife playing with Shiro.
She was gonna sit down next to her wife and spoon-feed her, but Kuro started growling at her, he was switching between purring and growling when Lux rubbed his back. “Kuro, be nice. She was just going to feed me cake. She wants to hold her baby too.” The rocket launcher let out a chaotic chirp before floating away to sleep with Mimi and Shiro following after that. Jinx helped her wife up and sat next to her with the cake.
“Finally, just the two of us.” Jinx wiggled her eyebrows and laughed when her wife pushed her a bit as she let out her real laugh, only showing it around Jinx. Music to her ears, anyone who disagrees will be eating stardust.
“You're so crude!”
“You love me though, right?” Lux kissed her cheek and looked at her wife, full of love.
“I love you very much.” Jinx smiled and took a piece of cake to spoon-feed her wife.
“Love ya too, Starshine.” Lux bit down on the cake, and they both looked at each other, both swore they saw stars in each other's eyes.
Lux jolted in surprise when her baby kicked inside her belly. Jinx almost dropped the saucer from Lux's sudden reaction. Lux let out an excited squeal and gently grabbed her wife's hand to let it touch her belly. A few minutes had passed, the baby kicked the belly again, and Jinx was in awe. She leaned down and rubbed her wife's belly, tears coming out of her golden eyes.
“It's me, baby… It's your papa! I love you so much. I know you'll knock those dweebs out of the park.” Lux gently rubbed her wife's head and sighed in content as Jinx planted kisses on her belly. The baby will grow full of love in this household, she knows it.
Jinx yelped in pain when Kuro bit her arm, and Jinx got out of bed to try and remove her gun from her poor arm. Shiro and Mimi landed on Lux's lap to nuzzle their furry noses onto the belly, sensing the baby inside.
Lux wasn't really happy as she saw what she looked like in the mirror. She was pregnant sure but she just couldn't help but feel like she had gained a few with all the cravings she had for the past several months of this pregnancy. She's thinking that Jinx wouldn't find her attractive anymore, she might be overthinking this a little too much. Her wife loves her for just being her, she's not gonna fall out of love over a little bit of weight… right?
Mimi made a reassuring purr on her holder, like saying she shouldn't worry about what Jinx thinks because she wouldn't do that to them. Her wife entered the room and was in awe of how gorgeous the pink guardian was to her eyes. Jinx dropped her stuff and went to wrap her arms around her wife from behind, kissing her cheek multiple times, making Lux laugh.
“Honey!”
“You look so pretty, Starshine.” Oh what was she thinking? Jinx wouldn't leave her!
“Really?” Lux sighed in content as Jinx added another kiss to her cheek.
“Prettier than my fireworks, that's for sure. Starshine, you are glowing.”
Her wife is such a sap. Charming, chaotic, and caring sap.
Jinx was pacing back and forth outside the hospital room. She had tuned out whatever Ezreal and Poppy were saying, she had put her trust in Soraka and Janna to make sure her wife was okay. She had to be escorted out of the room by Akshan and Syndra. She was about to throw hands on Ahri because her wife was screaming in pain from pushing the baby out, she doesn’t know why she reacted that way. She probably should apologize after this, right now, she’s begging any gods above that her wife will be alright.
It felt like hours, she kept glancing at the wall clock at the hospital. When she was about to bust the door open, Poppy nudged her leg and made Jinx look at her, “Whatever ya gonna say, I'm not in a mood, Shortstack!” The blue yordle shakes her head and sighs before looking at her.
“Lux is strong. She'll panic even more if she sees you busting down the door that might stress her, might even take longer to push. I know you want to be there, but you were about to bite out Fortune for just helping her out. Lux is strong, she was chosen as a leader for a reason. She'll get through this, Jinx, trust me.” Jinx sits on the floor, exhausted from pacing. Shiro and Kuro manifest out of her, then try to float inside the room but get stopped by Yuuto. The guns were growling and barking but eventually gave up and chased Yuuto around the hallway.
“I was super worst when Gwen gave birth to our kid. I almost smashed the door when I saw Syndra near her so it took the entire team to drag me away from the room. I was happy to see her holding our son, exhausted but still looking so beautiful. I get what you're feeling.” Poppy chuckled, remembering that memory.
Jinx laughed, she was one of the guardians that had to pull Poppy away from the room. The doors opened and the 3 guardians perked up. Jinx immediately stood up when she saw Janna smiling, a distant cry of the baby was heard and Jinx tears up from the sound. The older guardian nodded her head, a sign that both Lux and their child are okay. Poppy and Ezreal cheered her on, the red guardian approached the room with Janna behind her.
She saw Lux, exhausted, and her hair was sticking out in a lot of places, yet she looked like the most beautiful starlight she had ever seen. Lux had a tired smile on her face, the baby in her arms. She was rocking her and cooed at her baby sweet things, she saw Jinx and cried as well because their baby is here now. Jinx sat down in the chair next to Lux's bed and hugged her wife, carefully wrapping her arms around her so she wouldn't disturb the baby.
The familiars floating around them, chirping quietly and being happy to be part of the family. “Do you wanna hold her?” Oh how she wanted it so bad to hold her baby girl, but there's this deep-rooted fear. Her name says what she is, she doesn't want to jinx her child, she doesn't want to give her a curse. What if-
Her thoughts were interrupted by her wife's warm hand on her cheek, wiping away a tear, making her look at the pink guardian. “You're not bad luck, darling. You are always gentle, taking care of me, you can be gentle with our daughter too.” Her wife is right, she’s always right… which she doesn't and will never admit to her to this day. Some things never change.
“Okay… Okay, I can hold her.” Lux carefully placed the baby on her wife's arms, watching her try not to shake like maracas. The once chaotic golden eyes had turned into something with a gentle-looking golden sun, it was a pretty sight.
“H-Hey, baby girl. It's me… your papa.” Jinx cooed, and both parents gasped when the baby opened her eyes, a familiar shade of purple starlight eyes staring at Jinx as she sniffled.
“Sh-She has your eyes, Starshine.” Jinx laughed a bit, holding out her finger to touch her baby's hand, her tiny baby hands squeezed her finger and that broke her again. Her baby is so tiny.
No guardian said a word, they were watching the new parents enjoying watching them look at their daughter. The baby was the perfect mix of her and Jinx, her daughter is perfect. Jinx and Lux kissed their baby’s head, that baby had stopped crying and instead smiled at them. She had recognized their voices, and that made everyone's hearts melt.
“Have you thought of a name for the little one?” Soraka asked.
“We want to name her Aurora. It was the time when we saw the northern lights back at Frejlord.” Lux explained.
“Ah yes, the time I said, ‘me and you, stars above us, we’re getting married, and no one will stop us! I will blast stardust at anyone who objects to our marriage’, it was super romantic in my book.”
“You really miss pissing off the student council president, don't you?” Sarah teased, making Lux laugh a little as she remembered the vastaya bunny trying not to combust when Jinx had pranked her during high school.
“We actually had a lot of shared hobbies, she wasn't really half bad. She was actually the one that comforted me when Lux was gone. If it weren't for her, I think I'd be just travelling around and getting lost. We told her about naming our kid after her, she was super upset that she couldn't make it here with us cause’ of her research field.” Jinx explained before she kissed her wife's cheek.
“We promised to take pictures later.” Lux and Jinx shared a short kiss before gently giving kisses to their baby girl's head.
“Aurora Crownguard. Welcome to the world, Rory.” Lux cooed, and little Rory started squeezing both their fingers. This is the life, one that both parents would never trade anything for the world.
Sleep be damned, the cries of their daughter broke both their hearts. Jinx was the emotional one when Rory cried, she didn’t want to let go of the baby ever since. Lux groaned and before she could get out of bed, she felt her right side empty and warm. A nursery hummed from the room and she carefully sat up from her bed to regain her surroundings, her heart feeling that soft homey warmth as she listened to her wife singing an old lullaby that Vi used to sing for them when they were young. She went to the nursery room and found her wife holding their daughter, rocking her gently as she was singing the lullaby.
She hugged her wife from behind and kissed her bare shoulder, joining in as they both watched their baby girl yawn so cutely and smiled in her sleep as she saw both her parents. The guardians hummed the lullaby, kissed their baby girl one last time before putting her back to the crib. Jinx nuzzles her wife's cheek with a low chuckle, “Didn't wanna wake you up, babe. Want those pretty peepers of yours to be well rested.”
Lux hummed in response, leaning to her wife's affection, her wife giving her gentle kisses. The familiars manifested out of them, yawning and making sleepy chirps before joining Rory in the crib to watch over her. Both of them could sleep knowing their baby girl is protected.
Jinx wasn't super anxious. Totally calm, totally not itching to use her Star Guardian powers to make the kindergarten explode so her daughter won't go to school. It was her daughter's first day and she's… okay she may be a little bit overprotective. Shiro and Kuro are buzzing with energy, looking for any signs of red-violet hair standing out the crowd of kiddies running out of the school because the day is over. Kuro made his chaotic chirp, spotting Aurora among the crowd, but something was different.
She was holding hands with another student, Jinx knew the girl, it was Kai’sa and Ahri’s daughter Ellie. She didn't know the little gumiho had started school here, it seems like both had matching bracelets. It reminded her of the first time Lux had declared them as friends with matching friendship bracelets.
“Papa, can Ellie join us?” Ellie's ears dropped down in a shy manner. Shiro and Kuro floated beside them, giggling at the kids.
“Sure, little star.” Jinx could worry in the future, for now, though, memories were coming back to her, and well, Aurora seemed like she didn't want to leave the school, not without Ellie by her side.
