Max squints to try and look through the cabin window. Well, through the sheet Hopper put up over the window. There's a teeny little sliver where she can just barely see inside.
El's still sleeping. She taps on the window again, a little harder this time. She doesn't want to wake Hopper up, though. El's supposed to be a light sleeper. Whenever Max sleeps over, she's usually up the second Max so much as shifts in her sleep. Max knocks this time, doing her best to keep it quiet still.
Finally finally, El sits up. She looks toward the window and Max thinks she tilts her head but, again, she can't really see shit.
A second later the curtain is being pulled away. Max grins and waves. She see's El sigh before she comes over to unlock the window. Yay, good, she won't have to try too hard to convince her.
"Hey," Max whispers as soon as it cracks open. "Come outside."
"It's late—"
"Early, technically."
"Hop wont be happy."
"Who cares what Hopper thinks. Come on! Grab a jacket! The sun's about to rise!"
El hesistates for exactly 4 seconds before climbing out the window.
"Yes. Lets go. Come on." Max grabs her hands and starts leading her through the woods.
She'd found the best spot to watch the sunrise a couple days ago when she and Lucas were hanging out. (Well, as perfect as you can get in Bumfuck, Indiana.) Just outside of the woods. She's just been waiting for a good time to bring El.
She wasn't able to sleep again tonight. So, since she's awake anyways she decided why not this morning.
Anyways, any sleep deprivation is a problem for Later Max, right now she's pulling El to sit with her in the snow. There's a log they could sit on, but Lucas got a splinter from it last time they were here, so snow it is.
"Okay, I wasn't able to open the fridge 'cause my step-dad was sleeping on the couch and I didn't wanna wake him up… but I got us…" Max pulls out two chocolate bars. "Chocolate. They're a little melted because of my jacket but they'll re-solidify." Max drops them onto the snow to freeze back up.
"Hop will—"
Max groans loudly, falling back in the snow. "Don't worry about Hopper, El. If he has a problem I'll beat him up. Okay?"
El laughs, lying beside her. "Okay."
"Okay, good. Now look. The sun's rising."
