Work Text:
DJ sighed, rubbing what he thought was his head, but in reality it was his shoulder. It was difficult to see, and DJ was visibly squinting to make out a path to the hallway.
DJ leaned upwards, preparing to walk toward the bathroom when his breath hitched.
He felt something grasp his ankle hard.
“What the fuck?” DJ thought, terrified at what was currently happening.
DJ gasped, squirming in the hold to attempt to get the grasp of what felt to be a hand off of his ankle. After stumbling and falling face-first onto the floor, the hand finally retracted. DJ groaned in pain, got up, and peered under the bed, just to see nothing.
“What kind of ‘IT’ shit is this…” DJ gulped at the thought before finally turning away to use the restroom.
Behind him, Superfish was quietly chuckling at how terrified DJ had appeared before quietly shuffling out from beneath the bed.
After DJ returned to the bathroom and settled onto his bed, Superfish had another chance to continue his antics.
“DJ~” Superfish whispered from beside him, using his invisibility.
DJ whipped his head around, his eyes thoroughly scanning the dark, empty room, before coming to the sudden conclusion that he was hallucinating and needed to go to sleep.
“Why are you so scared of me, DJ?~” The voice, which was Superfish’s, was now coming from beneath his bed.
DJ slowly blinked, his face completely pale and monotone.
“Come, DJ, come play with me~.” The voice echoed.
DJ tried going back to sleep to escape the miserable situation he was in, only to be met with something being tossed full-speed at his face. DJ peered down and immediately recognized what it was.
“A.. duck?” DJ thought.
DJ held his cheek in pain, blinking back tears.
DJ cursed under his breath, “This is fucking stupid.”, before turning to leave the room filled with what seemed to be paranormal activity, but then..
Tap.
….
Tap.
DJ felt a tap on his shoulder.
DJ rotated, attempting to find who- no, what did that? He was already nearing the end of his patience with this ‘Pennywise’ nonsense. Just as DJ was preparing to fight, and possibly murder the intruder..
Aloo began to hiss violently at the air.
Not a quiet hiss, a full, angry hiss.
DJ’s eyes widened.
No.
No.
This couldn’t be happening again. The last time Aloo reacted this sharply was when a half-blood tried to hunt him down. DJ was genuinely afraid for his life now, and his attempt at holding back tears turned futile when he felt a wetness drip down his cheeks. Great. That would surely help his anxiety.
Please, no.
Why was he crying now?
“Aw, come on DJ, seriously?~” The voice echoed in his mind.
“Here you go!” It chuckled before chucking a small squishy at DJ’s face.
“You fucking- mph!” DJ was interrupted when yet another squishy slammed into his forehead.
His forehead stung, his eyes were watering, and his voice was hoarse.
“Asshole.” DJ spat.
DJ turned away when he felt two hands grip his shoulder.
This was it.
He was really going to die.
“Got you!” Superfish chuckled, rubbing DJ’s shoulders.
“What the fuck was that?!” DJ screamed.
“Whoa, whoa, calm down, human.” Superfish hesitantly whispered, expecting the prank to work.
DJ turned around to face Superfish, his eyes narrowed, tears streaking his face.
“Oh.” Superfish realized slowly, his grin falling away, “I thought these types of pranks would’ve appeased you, human. You humans speak about pranks like these a lot.”
“Clearly fucking not.” DJ stood up, walking toward Superfish.
Superfish walked backwards while DJ kept walking towards him. Eventually, Superfish’s back hit the wall with a thump. DJ put his hands on both sides of Superfish so he couldn’t escape from his consequences. Actions do have consequences, Superfish.
“What the fuck was that for? Seriously! You’re such an asshole sometimes.” DJ spat, “Do you genuinely have no decen…” DJ’s words muffled out.
Superfish’s eyes were fixated on the other's lips as they moved at a rapid-fire pace.
Soft-looking, Superfish thought, before catching himself. He blushed, hoping DJ didn’t notice. His lips looked nice; he wondered how his lips would taste if he were to kiss him right now. He wondered if he should really leave after everything. He...
“Superfish...” DJ coughed.
“Superfish! Are you even listening to m- Oh...” DJ realized why Superfish wasn’t responding to his attempts at conversation. DJ followed Superfish’s glance and realized Superfish was directly staring at his lips. DJ decided to have a bit of fun with this newly-found information. Since Superfish wanted to mess with him so much, DJ decided it was his chance to turn the tables.
“So… you find my lips that interesting…?” DJ chuckled.
Superfish audibly gulped. The tips of his ears were turned a fine reddish-pink. DJ wished he had that specific color of lip gloss so he could keep it as a reminder of this spectacular, gorgeous moment. He wished he could kiss the flustered look off of his face. He truly, sadly, wished a lot of things. Time for the next step.
“So... about the core.. Hypothetically, do you think us kissing while you remove it would at least numb the pain a little?” DJ smirked slightly, just enough for Superfish to catch a glimpse of his teeth.
“I- uh- for the core you would have to- uh- yeah? Maybe- for the core you could-” Superfish stuttered out, his cheeks turning a faint rose, “I mean- yeah- If it’s just for the- I suppose- If it’s just for the core.”
“Just... for the core?” DJ teased, “I’ve heard the same thing plenty. Am I really just that captivating?”
“I- uh, so, technically- uh- I would suppose- technically.. So?” Superfish grinned nervously.
DJ leaned more forward, “Really?” He whispered, “How about now?”
DJ moved his hands from the wall to snake around Superfish’s waist.
“Uhh- so perhaps I- no- yes- maybe? Yeah…” Superfish moved his arms slowly, moving toward the back of DJ’s neck.
“You- I mean- You’re cute when you’re- Ugh, never mind.” Superfish coughed, the words not coming out properly for him. DJ looked at Superfish, from his eyes to his lips, and nodded to himself. Something was going to happen, DJ knew it, but he didn’t know what exactly. It was a familiar sense of deja vu, a moment of clarity, a sudden epiphany.
“Say it,” DJ asked, even though he already knew what Superfish was trying to imply to him.
“You’re- okay, you’re- cute when you’re scared. Happy?” Superfish nervously shuddered.
DJ looked at Superfish, visibly flustered at the comment, then, with a soft, genuine smile, he uttered,
“More than happy,” And with that, DJ pecked Superfish on the lips gently.
After a moment of prolonged silence between the two, DJ decided to tease a question that had been endlessly on his mind;
“So… Just for the core still?” DJ teased, giving a flirtatious look to Superfish.
“No, Dhana-Dahanj-” Superfish gave up on the pronunciation, “No, DJ, not anymore.”
“At least you tried,” DJ added, grateful. With a whoosh, he took Superfish’s hand gently and kissed it.
“Whoa- hold on- you’re acting like you’re my knight in shining armor or- uh- something.” Superfish, flustered, interrupted.
“I could be your knight in shining armor if you allowed me to.” DJ smiled.
“Is this some weird human way to ask me out?” Superfish giggled.
“Maybe…. Who knows?” DJ winked.
“I’ll gladly go out with you, Daha- Dhanj- Dhja- ugh- DJ.” Superfish pulled DJ in and swiftly kissed him.
"Also," Superfish started, "I really apologize for what I did. I know pranking you like that was fucked up, and I won't do that to you again."
DJ lightly smiled, "Hey, it's okay. I'm sorry too for being a jackass."
Superfish added, "We should probably get to sleep."
"You're right, good night, fishface." DJ walked over to the bed.
"Hey! Can I at least sleep in the bed with you?" Superfish pouted, wanting to sleep beside DJ.
"Why?" DJ teased.
"Because I'm cold, and we're boyfriends," Superfish smirked.
"Yes, and, wait, we're boyfriends?" DJ asked.
"Oh-" Superfish tried to say, but DJ interrupted him.
"It's okay, I'd love to be your boyfriend, Superfish," DJ smiled.
"I love you, DJ." Superfish smiled.
"I love you too, Superfish. Now let's go to sleep." DJ smiled before kissing his newly acquired boyfriend one final time.
