Summary
Returning home to District 12 was supposed to be the end of the nightmare. But for Katniss and Peeta, the hardest work lies in the quiet day to day routine of healing. Wary of the the past hot and cold behavior towards him and never quiet knowing how she really felt, Peeta sets strict boundaries, determined to protect his own healing before he lets Katniss back into his heart.
To bridge the gap and prove that her feelings are real and not just habit or loneliness, Katniss has to show up every single day and be open to something she's never been good at - saying something. Driven by the simple, ordinary details of everyday life, she slowly proves that she isn't running and she's made her choice.
This is a slow burn growing back together story that focuses on quiet, mundane, everyday happenings and how the ordinary moments bring Katniss and Peeta back together.
* Update 7/27/26: This story is technically finished, but needs some heavy editing. I've got about 50 chapters drafted. I will try my best to edit and post 1-2 chapters at least every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I'm not a fan of abandoned fics, so I don't intend to make this one!*
