Friday, 29.5.26 1:32am.
Avery can't sleep.
No matter what.
He tossed and turned in his bed, the memory of Derek still haunts him like nothing before. His hands clench into fists, brows furrowing in discomfort.
He finally opens his eyes, and was met with darkness. The only thing illuminated his room was the moonlight seeping from his window on his left.
He gets up to get a glass of water, his legs barely supporting his weight as he dragged himself to the kitchen. Avery looked at the kitchen mirror in horror, he had bags under his eyes as if he was a panda. His hair was disheveled, he hadn't changed his clothes in like, what? A month?
After taking a few sips of water, he stumbled to the bathroom and took a shower after months from New Years. Atleast he felt refreshed.
After whatever just happened, he flopped onto his bed with despair.
He takes a melatonin gummy and tosses it into his mouth, letting the gummy take action.
As he finally lets darkness surround him, the only thing he remembers before sleep is one person; Derek.
Avery opens his eyes, his body feeling like it was encased in grassy area. The moonlight gently reflected his features, on what he can spot he's in a kingdom garden.
He sat up, groggily rubbing his eyes when he realizes the texture of his hands feel different. It was green, slimy—
Hes in his Minecraft skin. What the fuck.
He slowly got up on his feet, slime dripping down his legs. (Atleast it wasn't wetting his clothes.)
He stumbled around the garden, the most notable flowers that aren't usually common in gardens are the Lilies of the Valley, Cherry Blossoms, Chrysanthemums, and the Bleeding Hearts.
It was interesting.
As he wanders further, he starts to see a silhouette of a knight in the distance. It was small, but noticeable that it was a knight.
It seems to be staring at him, waiting.
He sped up, desperate to reach the knight, he stumbles on a rock and falls face first into the dirt. The knight seems to chuckle, shaking their head as their deep voice echoed throughout the garden, as if it was a completely empty room in a house.
Avery gets up and pouts at seemingly no one, before continuing to run towards the knight.
As soon as Avery reached him, they both fall to the ground as Avery had crushed him under a hug.
"Hic-* Der!!!" He exclaimed excitedly, knocking the air out of Derek. "Avery." The other man softly mumbled, taking a moment to bury his face into Avery's hair and taking in the scent.
"You're crying." Derek stated softly, gently wiping a stray tear from his slimy cheek. "I know." Avery sniffled, merely burying his head in the warm cloak Derek had draped on his own body.
They stayed like that for awhile, in the meanwhile Avery's sobbing has subsided. Leaving a nasty stain onto his cloak. Avery took a deep breath, silently taking in the scent of the other man.. Since when can you smell in dreams?
As so, the slime lifted his head to meet the knights eyes, a deep green reflected his eyes. "Can i, uh, take off your helmet?," Derek choked on his saliva, "Are you sure..?" The slime nodded his head frantically, and the knights wings fluttered violently in a state of fluster, "Fine. But be gentle, I don't want my wings hurt.. Especially in a dream, that'll hurt like hell." (The words "I don't want to wake up anyways." Silently echoes through his own head, leaving it unspoken.) Avery let out a soft 'yay' before excitingly [but carefully] taking off the helmet, his wings slipped through the little holes at the sides of his helmet when his eyes fluttered shut and opened again.

He looked beautiful to Avery, The moonlight shining through his... Honey head? Or something like that.

He was the most beautiful man Avery has ever seen.
The two awkwardly sat there for awhile, staring at each other starstruck.
Avery broke the silence, turning his dumbfounded expression away from Derek's line of sight. "Soo..," He started, pulling his face back at Derek to meet his eyes. "If im in a dream, how come you're here? You know, i don't even imagine you as a honeyblock-avian hybrid... Thingy." Came the question.
Derek paused. "I'm not so sure, i've been here for quite awhile... Before you fell asleep, i've been here for uhh... 2 weeks, maybe." Avery let out a soft 'ohhh' as his mouth curved into a little 'o'.
"Well, your times almost up here. You'll about to wake up in an hour." Derek stated, a look of sadness had fallen onto his expression. He didn't seem too happy to see Avery leave, afterall, he was the only company Derek had in awhile. "Aw man!" Avery whined, "I don't wanna leave!!! I wanna stay with you here. >:(" he made a little 'angry' face as he hugged Derek again, throwing the helmet into the grass as he buried his face into Derek's red cloak."
"You can't. your brain makes the rules, not me." The taller man shrugged, but didn't push Avery off. Instead started to trace little circles onto Avery's back as he hugged him back, tangling a hand into his 'hair'.
The two stayed in silence, Derek still tracing circles before stopping abruptly. He got up, and tugged Avery alongside him. "D-der? What are you-"
The man suddenly got onto one knee, taking the others hand and kissing it gently as he put his right hand onto his back. "My liege, shall we dance for one last time..?"
The slimes face flushed a deep green, jolting when the honey kissed his hand. "I-i can't dance!!!"
"I can guide you."
"B-but I'll just be a nuisance to you..."
Dereks brows furrowed as he stood up, still keeping Avery's hand in his. "Avery, since when had I ever seen you as a nuisance? I love you the way you are, I don't care if you seem annoying or embarrassing. I still love you." He gently reassured, putting the cold slimes hand onto his cheek. It'll probably mix, but he didn't care.
The slimes blush [?] darkened even more, turning his head away to hide the blush growing rapidly on his body. "Fiinee..." He pouted.
"Since this is your dream, could you like.. Add music?" Derek asked, looking at Avery. "Uhhh... Sure."
*Kwik Trip by Lightris & sero starts playing in the background.*
"... Seriously?" Derek looked at Avery with a look that can only be described as shock. "Whaat? You didn't say which song..." The shorter man smiled, a smug expression formed on his face as he giggled. The other man gently nudged him, as he couldn't stop the smile spreading on his face.
"J-just... Let me do it."
*insert classical music here play any classical music of your choice I genuinely do not have any ideas nor options cuz I listen to hyperpop and love songs for a living*
"Woah.. Wh- hey!," the shorter man yelped, as he was immediately pulled into a dancing stance. Specifically slow dancing. "Already?!"
"Mhm." Derek simply said, guiding Avery's steps with his.
The dance lasted for an hour, their moves replicating eachother as they moved in perfect sync. Only 2 minutes left until Avery wakes up. Derek felt a little dissapointed at that fact, but didn't want to ruin the moment.
"You're about to wake up soon." Derek muttered, not stopping the dance. Avery's look fell, replaced with a hint of sadness. "... I'll miss you, though." The shorter man mumbled, he doesn't remember being so selfish..
The other stopped, leaving Avery confused as he cupped his chin with a hand and held his back with the other. "Avery," Derek said, staring into Avery's wide dark emerald eyes. "Whats in your inventory?"
"Wha- I'm not falling for that aga- mhh?!?" Avery was quickly shut up by Derek pressing his lips against his, their lips molding against eachother as they mixed into a muddy yellowish green, the mixed slime and honey slowly formed a drip between them, not dropping anytime.
Avery froze before melting into it completely, tangling his hands into Derek's 'hair' as the kiss deepened, tasting a hint of Honey and Coffee on his tongue. As the kiss broke apart, Avery whined at the loss of contact and Derek just chuckled. A strand of the mixed slime & honey stretched between their lips.
"I'm gonna miss you, my moon." Avery softly murmured, burying his face into Dereks cloak. "I'm going to miss you too, my sun." The honey gently placed a kiss onto Avery's head, rubbing circles into his back once more. He buried his face into Avery's slimy 'hair', making sure to remember the scent before the wakes up.
"When will we meet again, my Knight?" The question came briefly from the slimes mouth, pulling his face out of the honeys cloak to meet eye contact. "I'm not sure, but soon enough, my Liege." The other reassured, hugging Avery again for what seems to be the millionth time.
And just like that, Avery's eyes fluttered shut as he left the dream world. And upon opening his eyes, he was met with a dim ceiling with posters around the light. Possibly his favorite band.
Somewhere out there, a certain man finally opens his eyes in a hospital after a 5 month coma.
Avery didn't like on how the dream felt so short. He slowly got up from his bed, and was in a sitting position. The light seeped through his blinds, warming his back. He stared at the floor, before noticing all the laundry and papers scattered around it. God, when did he even clean his room? He felt relieved when he realizes its a weekend. Which means no work... I guess.
He gets up to start working on cleaning his room and it was a success!! Yay.
Avery goes outside to check his mail, and surprisingly... There was only one letter in the box besides the newspapers jammed in there, strange. He takes it inside and reads it.
"Dear Avery [my liege],
if this letter finds you, I hope your doing well.
I know for a fact things haven't gone so well for you right now, and I'm sorry for whats happened that made you leave with the weight of our actions.
Take care, yeah? I don't want my favorite boy to be sad... Oh, and by the way, i'm in the hospital. So, I wont be here to give you messages a lot. Sorry, haha. Things has been stressing me out a lot.
And our dream was interesting, i know you'll read this after waking up anyways, lol.
Love ya.

...
Since when was Derlord his mailman?!?!? Oh right, he didn't realize that. That explains the different mailmans that had to take Derek's spot. Tears had pricked his eyes, finally, he knows now that Derek is actually alive...
He quickly grabs a piece of paper to write him back.
To; Derek Hutchinson. From; Avery St. Mayo.

Avery quickly came back out, and gladly took the newspaper out of the mailbox and placed the letter there, giggling like a highschool girl thinking about her crush.
He went back in and into the kitchen, humming a tune as he cooked a proper meal after eating tons of rice and instant noodles. It was delicious, and wondered if Derek's cooking was just the same.
As Avery was done eating and washing the dishes, he took a shower. Wondering what would be the future with Derek. Would they date and get married? Would they have an argument and break up? Would they have kids to care for and love? His train of thought was stopped with one, singular question.
"Are they like this in every universe?"
... From my perspective, no, sadly. Yes, a majority of some alternate universes are them being happy after the events of DAWTDE. But some are just... I don't know, really bad angst with them. God.. Anyways, proceeding with the piece of writing- (thats NOT-SO-EPIK!! Get it? No??) [Dude fuck off and let Creator J write, Xernia.] (... Fine.)
Eventually the question faded away as Avery stared into the ceiling in his bed. The memory of Derek's taste and scent was still in his mind, in which he smiled to.
Saturday, 6.6.26, 7;29am.
A week after the dream, and three days after the back and forth of letters. After the three days, Avery hadn't got a letter back for 4 days. He felt saddened, but realized that he was probably busy with something.
While he was thinking, his train of thought was cut off by three knocks at his door.
He got up and opened the door, brushing his clothes before looking at the man who knocked at the door.
Avery was met with a man that looked like he was in his twenties, hair that's about 30 inches long was up in a messy bun, strands gently fell from his face and two side hairs. The left one was messy, and the other neat and straight. Square glasses that hung from his nose. A hemorrhage that blinded him in his left eye, and your usual mailman outfit.
... Goddamn, he was hot. To Avery, of course.
"Hello. Is this Avery St. Mayo?" The dark-skinned man asked, tilting his head in a way Avery thought was cute, before realizing— holy shit it's Derlord!
"Der?"
"You guessed it."
