Chapter Text
GOTHAM - THE CLOCK TOWER - 23:47 EST
Oracle's main monitor displayed a split-screen feed. On the left: the exterior of a high-end Gotham hotel, where a known arms dealer was hosting a gala. On the right: the interior of Tim Drake's private safehouse, where Red Robin was supposed to be prepping for the undercover mission.
Barbara Gordon had not intended to watch.
She had not.
But then Dick had called, asking if she'd seen the "lovebirds" because Tim had been acting "weirdly nervous" on comms, and Jason had texted a single question mark, and Damian had sent a rather pointed "Drake is deficient. Observe." with a timestamp.
And Barbara was only human.
She had patched the feed into the Batcomputer's auxiliary system, fully intending to just glance.
That was three minutes ago.
Now she was watching Tim Drake, who had faced down the League of Assassins, who had died and come back, who had beaten the Joker in a game of wits, stand completely frozen in the middle of his apartment like a deer in the headlights.
On the Batcomputer's secondary screen, the group chat was already going off.

Nightwing: babs why are we all watching tim's security feed
Oracle: I'm monitoring for mission readiness.
Nightwing: that's a lie and you know it
Oracle: It's a professional lie.
Red Hood: He's been standing there for four minutes. Four. Minutes.
Oracle: He'll move when he's ready.
Red Hood: he's not moving. he's having an aneurysm.
Oracle: It's called ✨emotional processing✨
Red Hood: it's called being DOWN BAD
Orphan: He is making the face.
Spoiler: THE FACE?? CASS WHAT FACE
Orphan: The one where his brain leaves his body.
Signal: I'm at the hospital and even I'm watching this.
Batman: I was not informed there was a viewing party.
Nightwing: BRUCE LMAOOOO
Red Hood: THE OLD MAN IS HERE
Spoiler: MR. "EMOTIONS ARE INEFFICIENT" JOINS THE CHAT
Batman: The mission is in eight minutes. Drake should be focused.
Oracle: He's... processing.
Batman: ...
Red Hood: there is nothing to PROCESS. it's a DRESS. she's just standing there.

TIM'S SAFEHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
The thing was, it wasn't just a dress.
"How do I look?"
The moment Tim turned around, he froze.
He couldn't even BREATHE.
Bianca stood in the center of his living room, and she was—
She was Darkstar.
Her ashen-silver hair fell in heavily layered, shaggy locks, a thick side-swept fringe draping across her forehead and partially framing her eyes. Uneven feathered layers brushed against her shoulders, the wind-tossed texture giving her an untamed appearance, as though she had stepped from a midnight forest rather than a noble manor.
Her skin was pale as moonlight, almost porcelain in appearance, contrasting sharply against her luminous crimson eyes that glowed like fresh blood in darkness.
Faint silver vine-like markings wound across her shoulders, collarbone, and limbs like living moonlit roots: traces of her nymph ancestry visible despite her vampiric nature.
A black whisper capelet draped around her arms, trimmed with gold-yellow embroidery, floating behind her movements like a living shadow. Beneath it, a charcoal-grey off-the-shoulder dress hugged her frame, its loose sleeves lending an ethereal softness to her silhouette. A dramatic slit ran along the front of the gown, revealing a black underlayer and glimpses of her pale lower legs.
Long black fingerless gloves covered her arms. Crimson round earrings provided a subtle splash of color that mirrored her eyes. Around her neck rested a black choker from which hung a delicate vampire crest, suspended just above her chest like an ancestral seal.
And the flowers—
Black roses bloomed along the fabric of her dress, their petals intertwined with silver vines that curled and spread like enchanted roots. Tiny crimson blossoms emerged among them, resembling flowers nourished by moonlight and blood alike.
Her beauty was ethereal and dreamlike, carrying the grace of a woodland spirit and the elegance of an ancient vampire noble. She appeared delicate, almost serene, yet every movement possessed the silent confidence of a predator. In her presence, one could not decide whether she resembled a moonlit flower blooming in darkness or the darkness itself given form.
Tim's mouth went dry.
"Tim?" Bianca called out, confused.
"Red Robin?" Bianca stepped forward while Tim, in his Red Robin gear, was processing. Hard.
Somewhere across the city, the Batfamily was laughing or wheezing because Tim was pathetic for Bianca.

Red Hood: HE CAN'T BREATHE
Nightwing: HE LITERALLY FORGOT HOW
Spoiler: HER HAIR IS ASHEN SILVER NOW
Signal: HER EYES ARE CRIMSON
Oracle: She's in her second form. Full vampire manifestation with nymph ancestry. LIKE DANG.
Red Hood: THAT'S NOT HELPING
Nightwing: TIM'S BRAIN IS GONE
Orphan: He is looking at her like she invented darkness.
Red Hood: SHE LITERALLY DID NOT
Spoiler: LET HIM HAVE THIS
Batman: ...The gold-yellow embroidery on the capelet creates visual disruption.
Red Hood: BRUCE WHAT
Nightwing: BRUCE IS DOING IT AGAIN
Batman: I'm making an observation.
Red Hood: YOU'RE AS BAD AS TIM
---
TIM'S SAFEHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Tim's mouth opened. Closed. Opened again.
Somewhere in the depths of his brain, his internal monologue was screaming: Words. Use words. You know words. You have used them before.
"I—" he started.
Bianca stepped closer. Her heels clicked softly against the hardwood. Each step was a gunshot in Tim's fragile psyche.
"The dress," he managed. "It's. Good."
Good? his brain shrieked. GOOD? You're a GENIUS. You solved the BOXING DAY MURDER. You outsmarted RA'S AL GHUL. The best word you have is GOOD?
Bianca's lips curved into a slow, amused smile. "Just 'good'?"
Tim's hand twitched toward his utility belt. If there was ever a time for a smoke bomb, it was now.
"Tactical," he said.
Oh no.
"Tactical," he repeated, like a man trying to dig himself out of a hole with a spoon.
Stop saying tactical.
Bianca's smile widened. That was the smile. The one that said she knew exactly what she was doing to him. The one that reminded him she was, in fact, a strategic genius who had probably planned this exact moment.
"Tactical," she echoed, stepping even closer. "Is that what you call it?"
Tim's back hit the wall.
When had he moved to the wall?
"Strategic," he choked out. "The. The accessories are strategic. The red earrings. They draw attention to—" He gestured vaguely at her face. "The face."
Oh my god.
"The face," Bianca said, her voice dangerously amused.
"Your. Eyes," Tim clarified. "They're. Crimson. Like fresh blood in darkness. I noticed."
STOP TALKING.
"Your hair," he continued, because apparently his mouth had declared independence from his brain. "It's ashen silver. Very ashen silver. I like it."
Bianca's eyebrow arched. "You said that."
"I'm saying it again."
"You said that too."
Tim made a sound that was somewhere between a whimper and a laugh. "I'm having a moment."
"Clearly."
"A strategic moment."
Bianca's lips twitched. "Is that what we're calling this?"
"The silver vine markings," Tim continued, gesturing helplessly at her collarbone. "They're—they're like living moonlit roots. That's—that's very poetic. I'm being very poetic right now."
Bianca's expression flickered: surprise, then something softer.
"You're not afraid?" she asked quietly.
Tim stared at her. At the ancient crimson eyes that held depths he couldn't fathom. At the black roses blooming along her dress. At the ethereal, almost dreamlike beauty that made her look like she'd stepped out of a Gothic fairy tale.
"Afraid?" he repeated. "Bianca, I've faced scarecrows, clowns, and alien invasions. A beautiful vampire-nymph hybrid is honestly a step up."
Bianca laughed, a surprised, genuine sound that made something in Tim's chest unclench.
"That's your takeaway?" she asked.
"My takeaway," Tim said, his voice steady despite his racing heart, "is that you're still you. You're just... more. You look like a moonlit flower blooming in darkness."
Bianca's crimson eyes searched his for a long moment.
Then she smiled: slow, warm, and dangerously fond.
"You really are impossible," she murmured.
"I prefer 'strategically unpredictable,'" Tim replied.
Bianca laughed again, and Tim decided right then that he would never, ever get tired of making her do that.

TIM'S SAFEHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
"I need to adjust something," Bianca said, stepping back. "The dress isn't sitting right."
She turned toward the bathroom mirror, and Tim followed without thinking.
"Your hair," he said. "It's ashen silver."
"Yes."
"It's very... ashen silver."
"It is."
"I like it."
Bianca's lips twitched in the reflection. "You said that."
"I'm saying it again."
"Tim. Focus."
"I'm focused." He wasn't focused. "Just. One more look."
Bianca sighed—but she was smiling. "You have five seconds."
Tim took five seconds. Then ten.
Then Bianca reached out and physically pushed him out of the bathroom.
"Mission," she called through the door. "Focus."
"I'm focused!" Tim shouted back, his voice cracking slightly. "I'm very focused!"
From the hallway, he heard Bianca's soft, amused laugh.
And somewhere across the city, the Batfamily was watching the security feed and losing their collective minds.

TIM'S SAFEHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Bianca emerged from the bathroom, adjusting the vampire crest at her throat.
"You know," Tim said, his voice steadier now, "I should tell you. My family is watching."
Bianca's expression didn't change.
"Are they?" she asked mildly.
"Yep."
"Did you know?"
"I suspected."
"And you didn't mention it?"
"I wanted to see how long it would take."
Bianca's lips twitched. "I'm going to assume the bet was longer than this."
"Much longer," Tim admitted. "I lost."
"I'll send them a thank-you note later," Bianca replied smoothly. "For the entertainment."
Then, to Tim's eternal delight, she looked directly at the camera, her crimson eyes sharp, knowing, and faintly amused, and gave a tiny, regal nod.
Hi, Batfamily, that nod said. I'm aware of you. I've always been aware of you. And I'm currently holding your brother's hand while he melts into a puddle.
Then she turned back to Tim and said, in a perfectly conversational tone: "Your sister is very good at predicting micro-expressions. The one in the mask. She'd make a formidable chess opponent."
Tim stared. "Cass?"
"I recognized the posture. The way she moves. She's been evaluating my body language since the conversation started."
"Tim," Red Robin's voice said weakly, "she's in another building."
"Yes," Bianca agreed, "and she's probably reading this conversation through my shoulders alone."
Tim didn't know whether to be terrified or impressed.
He settled on both.

Batman: She's a threat.
Nightwing: BRUCE NO

Oracle: He's not wrong. She's been reading us this whole time.
Red Hood: HOW IS THAT A THREAT
Oracle: It's not. It's a strategy.
Spoiler: She just looked at Tim like he hung the moon
Nightwing: She's looking at him like he invented chess
Red Hood: CHESS WAS INVENTED IN THE 6TH CENTURY
Nightwing: THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT HISTORY
Orphan: She knows everything about us now.
Signal: Is that bad
Orphan: No. It is neutral.
Orphan: She is waiting to see what we do.
Red Hood: WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
Oracle: It means we're being evaluated.
Nightwing: BY TIM'S GIRLFRIEND
Red Hood: I hate this. I hate all of this.
Spoiler: You love this
Red Hood: I HATE THAT I LOVE THIS

TIM'S SAFEHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Tim watched Bianca in that moment, standing beneath the soft lamplight, ashen silver hair gleaming, crimson eyes faintly glowing, black roses blooming along her dress, silver vine-like markings curling along her skin like living moonlit roots and he realized, with sudden, painful clarity, that this woman was going to be the death of him.
Not through violence. Not through betrayal.
Through sheer, devastating presence.
"You're staring again," Bianca observed, not looking at him.
"Yes."
"Is there a reason?"
"Many."
Bianca turned to face him, her expression curious. "And are you going to share them?"
Tim considered this.
"I'm going to sum them up," he said carefully, "as 'tactical appreciation.'"
Bianca's lips parted. Then she laughed—a full, surprised laugh that made something in Tim's chest unclench.
"'Tactical appreciation,'" she repeated. "That's the one you're going with?"
"It's accurate."
"It's absurd."
"It's also true."
Bianca shook her head, still smiling. "You're impossible."
"I prefer 'strategically unpredictable,'" Tim replied, stealing her earlier words.
Bianca's smile softened into something almost tender.
"Come on," she said, reaching for his hand again. "We have a mission. And I believe you owe your family a proper show."
Tim took her hand, his heart hammering in his chest.
He was absolutely never going to live this down.
He wouldn't have it any other way.
---
THE GALA - LATER THAT NIGHT
The Batfamily watched from various positions around the ballroom as Tim and Bianca moved through the crowd like water.
They were perfect. Flawless. The picture of two wealthy elites blending seamlessly into the high-society environment.
Tim, in his tuxedo, conducted small talk with the precision of a master diplomat.
Bianca the Darkstar moved with the grace of a woodland spirit and the confidence of a predator. Her ashen silver hair caught the chandelier light like spun moonlight. Her crimson eyes gleamed beneath the elegant glow. The black roses on her charcoal dress seemed almost alive, and the silver vine-like markings on her skin looked like deliberate, artistic body paint to anyone who noticed.
She charmed every person she spoke to without giving away a single piece of information.
Then the arms dealer's henchmen made their move.
Tim disabled one. Bianca disabled two.
They didn't even look at each other.
They just... flowed.
Like a paired dance, years of practice and trust and something more written into every synchronized movement.
---
BATFAMILY EMERGENCY CHANNEL
Spoiler: They just took out three henchmen while making eye contact and holding champagne glasses.
Signal: That's the most romantic thing I've ever seen.
Nightwing: I didn't know it was possible to be that in sync.
Oracle: Tim's heart rate hasn't spiked once.
Red Hood: THAT'S WORSE
Orphan: They are not performing.
Nightwing: WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
Orphan: They are not pretending. They are exactly like this.
Red Hood: HOW IS THAT REAL
Batman: ...They are efficient.
Red Hood: BRUCE
Nightwing: BRUCE THAT'S THE NICEST THING YOU'VE EVER SAID
Batman: I was making an observation.
Spoiler: BRUCE IS ON BOARD
Orphan: Bruce approves.
Signal: THE SKY IS FALLING
Red Hood: I'M TAKING A SCREENSHOT OF THIS
Batman: Do not.
Red Hood: TOO LATE
Oracle: I've saved seventeen screenshots already.
Nightwing: BABS
Oracle: I'll be making a scrapbook.
Red Hood: A SCRAPBOOK
Oracle: A tactical scrapbook.
---
On the dance floor, Bianca leaned close to Tim, her crimson eyes bright with amusement.
"Your family is watching," she murmured.
"I know."
"They're taking screenshots."
"I know."
"They're going to make a scrapbook."
"...I know."
Bianca laughed—soft, warm, real—and Tim Drake, genius detective, strategic mastermind, and Red Robin extraordinaire, decided that he was absolutely, completely, hopelessly in love with this impossible woman.
"How did I get so lucky?" he asked quietly.
Bianca's expression softened. "You're asking me?"
"Yes."
She reached up, her gloved fingers brushing his cheek.
"You showed up," she said simply. "You stayed."
Tim caught her hand, pressing a kiss to her knuckles.
"Always," he said.
And somewhere across the ballroom, Dick Grayson was absolutely weeping into his champagne glass.

And somewhere in the depths of the night, surrounded by family who would never stop teasing him and a woman who had stolen his heart in every timeline, Tim Drake smiled.
She was a moonlit flower blooming in darkness. She was the darkness itself given form. She was his.
He wouldn't have it any other way.
