Work Text:
Ashswag sighed to himself.
He slid down his couch even more.
Glancing around his dark, lonely, empty apartment
All he could think about was them.
Their beautiful blue eyes, their cute freckles, their voice.
Gosh, he loved their cute little voice so much.
The way they spoke, their brittish accent, their jokes.
...
He decided he had to call them.
Reaching forward to grab his phone from his table, he scrolled through his contacts until he saw them.
'Squiddo 🧡'
He smiled to himself, tapped the call button and held his phone up to his ear.
As he listened to the ringing sound, that's when it struck him.
He had no idea what to say.
Gulp. Well, too late now.
...
"Hello Ashswag!"
A smile immediately involuntary spread on his lips. It was like music to his ears, hearing them say his name so happily.
Collecting himself, he realized there was a faint sound of water running in the background.
"Hey Squiddo!"
"...Is there a faucet running in the background?"
He heard them giggle into the microphone. Void save him.
"Yeah, I'm washing the dishes!" They replied.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I can call back later if you'd like..." He replied, somewhat disappointed.
"Oh no, no! It's okay! It's nice to have something else to do meanwhile, I usually listen to music but..." They paused, seemingly hesitating. "Your voice sounds way better."
He almost dropped his phone at the compliment. He was definitely blushing like crazy. He was so glad he wasn't in public, this would've been humiliating.
"Wha- Why- What..? Really?" Is all he could manage to say.
Surely they meant it platonically.
They giggled again. "I can practically hear you blushing though the phone." They paused again. "Its kinda cute."
He wanted to scream into his pillows. He was definitely NOT kicking his feet.
"Stopp... You're humiliating me." He whined.
"Okay, okay. Why did you call?" They asked, laughing.
"Uhmm... Well..." Should he tell the truth or not? Well, Squiddos prior flirting made it a lot easier to tell the truth. "I kinda just wanted to hear your voice. Its so lonely here!" He said, rotating to lay down on his couch.
"I wish you were here..." He added, mumbling.
"Yeah, well, it's kinda hard when I live on the other side of the world..." they replied.
"mhh... yeah..." he mumbled
how do I get them to talk more?
"soo... how's your day been?"
// they talk for what feels like hours, sharing random thoughts and experiences. //
"so... what are you doing later?" they suddenly ask.
"what do you expect... absolutely nothing, lol.." he responded, finishing to fold his last t-shirt, and put it into the drawer.
"wanna livestream together?"
