Chapter Text
2 hours ago, the Council of Virtue had met to discuss the recent developments in their world. To put it simply, the idea of Superheroes and Supervillains coexisting amongst the regular three figure system that they were used to all those years ago.
This stemmed from the incident over a month ago, where Supergirl fought against the Parasite across both Insektia and Sukochi. Virtue let it slide with Superman, albeit due to Mayapple giving her a piece of her mind, something even she had to commend despite the disrespect, but with all these new superheroes showing up, Virtue had to say something.
As the Council discussed these issues, though, one princess took the stand: Princess Diana, of Themyscira.
"I'll make this brief. Themyscira has rarely been caught up with the affairs of the other kingdoms, we don't follow the same rules as you do. I, and all of my sisters agree that something must be done." Diana took a deep breath, before staring Princess Virtue dead on.
"I, and all of Themyscira, withdraw from the Council of Virtue, effective immediately."
Silence fell, before erupting into chaos as Diana promptly turned and left the room.
---
"Princess Diana, you surely can't be serious, right?" Mayapple had met with Diana outside of the hall the minute Diana had left.
"Indeed, I am. Princess Mayapple, You and I both know that Princess Virtue cannot be trusted. I believe in these superheroes as much as you do, but there comes a time where a Princess has to do something. I can't sit back and watch as Themyscira is destroyed alongside every other kingdom in Virtue's grasp." Diana walked towards the exit platform, adjusting her gauntlets.
"There has to be some other way, right?" Mayapple asked, speeding over to join the other Princess. "Virtue listens to me because of my power, but she'll listen to the both of us if we-"
"Cherry. I am asking you this as a fellow princess, and your friend
. Don't place your kingdom of innocents in danger. I know the Amazons can handle it. I know we can." Tapping the air, Diana climbed up a ladder, settling into the seat of her Invisible Jet. "Farewell, Princess Mayapple. I shall see you another day." Flicking various switches, the jet took off, leaving Mayapple alone on the platform.
"...Dangit." Mayapple sighed. Feeling a hand on her shoulder, she glanced over to spot Apoidea.
"Tried to get her to stay?" Apoidea asked, frowning as she watched Mayapple sadly nod. "Cmon, sit down."
The two made their way to a bench, sitting down as the buzz of the council meeting tried to settle down.
"So, pretty big bombshell, huh?" Apoidea asked. "Virtue's gonna be so mad later."
"Later? She's mad now!" Mayapple exclaimed. "No one has EVER left the Council, especially willingly! And to think that Diana just.. up and left?" Mayapple sighed, before looking at Apoidea. "I'm not upset because my friend left, I'm upset because I'm scared. I know the amazons are SUPER strong, but this is Virtue we're talking about. Who knows what she could do?!"
"You know, she called me after the Supergirl story made the news. I'm telling you now, that was one of the most threatening calls I've ever gotten." Apoidea grimaced, looking out at the skyline. "Just told me to keep her in check, or else she'd get involved. Especially with what happened to Malachite."
"..What happened to Malachite?!"
---
Elsewhere, Princess Virtue was, albeit methodically, destroying her office. Who did Diana think she was? Virtue took a deep breath, before picking up a chair, and throwing it at a wall. "..I need to make some phone calls.."
Behind her a giant screen appeared, and as she typed in a number, something appeared on the screen. A living room, very obviously a rich man's room. "Maxwell!" Virtue yelled.
"AGH! I FORGOT HOW LOUD I MADE THIS!" A man stumbled onto screen, dressed in a zebra print robe as he turned down the screen's volume. This is Maxwell Lord, co-founder and CEO of Lordtech. "Virtue! How have you been?"
"Terrible. I need you again, Maxwell." Virtue spoke, straight to the point.
"Let me guess, 'another kryptonian needs to be hit with the green stuff!' Yeah, no, after last time? I'm not buyin." Maxwell brushed his shoulders off, stirring a glass of brandy in his hands. "So unless you've got somethin else, nada."
"Have you heard of the Amazons, Maxwell?" Virtue said, catching the man's attention.
"..I may be aware." Maxwell listened in.
"Their princess just withdrew from the Council." Virtue's brow twitched. "I need you to find a solution."
"..Wait, you want me to work AGAINST the Amazons?" Maxwell spat out his drink. "Nuh uh, nada, no way, zilch, zero. I like living!"
"You don't have to work against them. Just give me a way to fight back." Virtue said. "Diana doesn't understand what she has just done."
"What do you want ME to do? They'd tear me to pieces!" Maxwell sputtered. "And if they find out that Lordtech is after them, then I'm screwed!"
"You don't need to PHYSICALLY go there, Maxwell, you need to give me a way to destroy them." Virtue grit her teeth. "Once I destroy their spirit, then they'll come crawling back, and all will be in order."
"..You're making a pretty big mistake, Virtue, but if it saves my skin, I'm in." Maxwell hung up, muttering to himself.
"..Reminder to self, never go to Lordtech again." Virtue sighed.

A badge slammed on the chief's desk.
"Trevor, what the hell is this?" The MCPD Chief glanced up at the officer, Steve Trevor. "You wanna brag about your badge or somethin?"
"..I quit." Steve said, staring the Chief dead on.
"..EHEHEHEHEHA! Nice one, Trevor- You're not kidding, are you." The Chief's cigar dropped from his mouth.
"I'm not. After the incident at Adept Co, I can't keep doing this. I quit." Steve stayed firm.
"..You do realize this will destroy you, right?! What'll you have once you quit?!" The Chief sputtered, trying to make Steve stay. Steve simply closed his eyes, and turned to leave. "HEY! TREVOR, GET BACK HERE!" The Chief yelled, slamming his hands on his desk.
The doors to the police station slammed shut as Steve took in the crisp air. It must've been September by then. Or, maybe October? He didn't know. Considering he just quit his job, he also frankly didn't care.
Entering his beat up station wagon, Steve began his drive home. He'd probably have to work part time again. Hell, maybe the old mechanics shop was still hiring. As long as he made money to stay afloat, he'd do anything.
Then, he almost hit a woman.
