The two heroes Kris and Ralsei rested peacefully in the prince's new bed, silently embracing. They both haven't really ever been able to spend time with eachother like this. One, because of their hero duties, and two, the Soul would most likely get in the way.
Luckily enough, Kris decided to just send the Soul away to view some other room without it actually leaving their body. They really hoped whatever cutscene that was happening over there kept the Soul occupied for a while.
Kris had their face buried in the prince's warm, comforting scarf. He had still been wearing his usual outfit (minus the glasses) while they both rested together. Kris had just been wearing the clothes that were under their armor.
Ralsei slightly tightened his grip around the human, slowly nuzzling his nose into their hair. "Hehe," he giggled, staring down at them.
"Mh," Kris mumbled as they further buried their head into Ralsei's neck. They grabbed onto the fuzzy blanket and pulled it up higher. They let out a small sigh at the feeling of comfort that they were experiencing. It was the most comfort they had felt since forever.
"...Kris," Ralsei spoke up, running his fingers through the strands of their midnight blue hair. He watched as they slowly lifted their head up to look at him.
"...Mmhyeah," they responded, their tone relaxed. They noticed that the prince's hand was messing with their hair, and they slightly blushed at that. "What..."
He hesitated to think for a quick second before asking them a question. "You're, uhm, okay with this, right? The, uh, cuddling thing… I'd just like to make sure..."
Kris' lips curved into a tiny smile. "Mhm," they answered, nodding. "Very very okay with this," they added, going back to the position they were in earlier, with their face hidden in Ralsei's scarf. "Really okay with this," they continued as they softly rubbed his back with their hands, hugging him.
"Hehehe," Ralsei giggled in response, moving his arms to hug Kris back. "It's nice that we're both, uhm, very okay with this, then, haha..."
The prince felt Kris softly breathing on his neck, and the sensation made his cheeks flush a little. The two stayed quiet for a moment. The only sounds that could be heard in the room were the sounds of gentle breathing, along with the noise the blanket made whenever one of them slightly shifted.
They both stayed like that for a long moment, just enjoying themselves. Kris even ended up falling asleep. Ralsei almost drifted off as well until he heard footsteps from outside of the room.
He slowly moved his head up and focused on the door, listening for anything else. He then felt Kris slightly move closer to him in their sleep. "Mh," they mumbled. Ralsei found it so cute.
He softly patted their head and began to run his fingers through their hair again. He started to think about what they could be dreaming about, but his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of those footsteps again.
Instead of looking over at the door, he just sighed and went back to holding Kris again, his chin resting on their head. Whoever was outside wasn't going to ruin the moment for the two. Ralsei slowly closed his eyes and began to drift off.
Kris awoke from their rest once they heard something. Confused, they slowly moved away from Ralsei and rubbed their eyes. They sighed once they realized that Ralsei’s very loud alarm was the reason they woke up. They tiredly rolled over and turned it off themself.
As they were reaching over to turn the alarm off, Ralsei gently gripped onto their body and moved closer to them in his sleep. Kris turned their head to look at him once the alarm went silent. They giggled at the sight of him sticking to their side while he slept. They found it really adorable.
Kris moved closer to Ralsei and wrapped an arm around his side. They brought their other hand up to his cheek and gently caressed it, watching as he slightly moved closer to it. Had he always been this cute, Kris thought as a smile creeped its way up onto their lips.
They scooted slightly closer to the prince and rested their hand on his cheek, underneath his fluffy ear. “Mh...” He made a tiny noise which made Kris giggle once more.
Kris let out a small sigh of comfort as they continued to stare at Ralsei’s asleep face. It wasn’t often that they got the chance to be this close to him, so they couldn’t help but stare. They silently admired his features for as long as they could. They loved how his eyes looked, even when they were closed. His long eyelashes made his face look so pretty.
Suddenly, Ralsei’s eyes slowly fluttered open, and he was awake. “Hm,” he said tiredly as he stared at Kris staring at him. A tiny blush appeared on the prince’s face. “What…?” He was confused as to why he woke up with Kris staring directly at him.
Kris’ eyes slightly widened. “Oh, did I… wake you up, or something,” they asked, pulling their hand away from Ralsei’s face.
“Uhm,” He began, starting to fidget with his fingers. “I don’t know… But I woke up and you were staring at me like you needed something, so…” He ended his sentence with a small laugh.
“No I don’t need anything,” Kris answered, laughing as they spoke. “But uh, your alarm went off earlier… And it was really loud. But you slept through that.”
“Oh,” Ralsei responded, surprised. “Sorry, haha… I can be a deep sleeper sometimes, so that’s why it was so loud…” His face flushed pink in embarrassment.
“It’s fine,” they said, smiling softly. “And when I moved to turn off the alarm, you kinda just clung to me like a magnet or something, it was funny.”
Ralsei’s cheeks immediately flushed red. “A-Ah, really?” He nervously attempted to cover up his blushy cheeks with his ears.
“Haha, yeah,” Kris answered, laughing at the sight of Ralsei so suddenly embarrassed. “Don’t be embarrassed, it’s fine…”
“I’m not embarrassed, I just, uhm… I just didn’t know I did that! So…!”
“Well obviously you didn’t know you did that, you were asleep,” Kris acknowledged, continuing to laugh.
Ralsei hid his eyes with his ears, even more embarrassed. “W-Well yeah, I know!!! But! S-Stop!”
“Hehe…” Kris calmed down and stopped laughing. They gently pulled themself closer to Ralsei, a smile still on their face. They rested their head on his shoulder and sighed.
“You’re, uhm, going to continue napping, Kris?” Ralsei smiled and gently patted their dark hair. His cheeks were still slightly pink from earlier.
“Mh,” Kris mumbled before moving their head to look up at him. “Uh-huh… Unless you wanted me to stay up…”
Ralsei felt his cheeks flush again. Kris’ face was so close to his face, and he could slightly feel their breath on his fur. “Uh— No, it’s fine, you can continue sleeping, haha…”
Kris giggled. “Okay…” They rested their head on Ralsei’s shoulder again, holding onto him gently.
The prince just stayed frozen for a second, recovering from Kris’ face being so close only a few seconds earlier. He realized that he wasn’t doing anything at all about 5 seconds later, which caused him to blush some more.
Suddenly, he felt something cold touch his feet. He let out a tiny yelp in response and looked down after quickly yanking his legs away.
“Hehe,” giggled Kris as they looked back up at Ralsei with a grin on their face. “…Sorry, my feet are cold.”
“I— Kris!” A blush appeared on the prince’s fluffy cheeks, which he tried to hide with his ears once again.
“Hehe, what?” Kris playfully kicked Ralsei’s leg with their icy cold foot, causing him to yelp again and slightly jump up.
“H-Hey!!! Stop!” He giggled and quickly moved himself away from Kris. “Why are you kicking me??? Stop that!”
“Hehehe, fine, jeez, I’ll stop,” Kris said. They reached out to him and tried to pull him closer. “But come back…”
“Hehe, okay,” he giggled, moving back over to them. He wrapped an arm around their body and smiled. “I actually don’t mind your feet touching mine, just… don’t surprise me with it,” he told Kris, giggling. “And don’t kick me!”
Kris grinned before they wrapped an arm around Ralsei as well. “Okay, okay, I know, I won’t kick you ever again…Hehe…”
“Thank you,” he thanked happily.
“…Can I warm my feet with yours now,” Kris asked. They didn’t know why their feet happened to be so cold at that moment, but they didn’t feel like getting socks or anything.
“Hehe, sure,” Ralsei answered, a tiny blush making its way onto his face. He felt the coldness of Kris’ feet on his, which made him laugh a bit. “Why couldn’t you just get socks, Kris?”
“Because I don’t like socks,” they answered. “And this is better.”
“Okay sure, but, what’s so bad about socks?” He curiously raised an eyebrow.
“Meh, they’re not that bad, actually.”
Ralsei paused. “Uhm, so…”
“Just don’t want them right now. And you said you’re okay with this.” They slowly rubbed their foot against Ralsei’s, a silly smirk present on their face.
“I. Okay.”
The two just stared into each other’s eyes while their feet rubbed together, not saying a word until about a few more seconds.
Ralsei slightly laughed before speaking up. “...Is it, uhm, working?”
Kris tilted their head in confusion. “What…?”
“The… The feet thing,” he answered. “Are your feet warmed up yet?”
“Oh,” they responded. “Yeah.”
“That’s good,” Ralsei said with a smile. He was always happy to do something to help Kris, even if it was as small as keeping their feet warm.
“Mhm.” Kris stopped moving their feet and let out a soft sigh. They moved their face closer to Ralsei and pressed their nose against his.
“Hm???” Ralsei’s face practically lit up with blush once he realized what was going on. “Kris, w—”
He stopped talking once he heard something. He paused. It seemed like someone was walking around outside near his room again.
Kris didn’t hear the footsteps from outside at all, and even if they did, they probably wouldn’t have cared. They gently grabbed onto Ralsei’s chin with their hand and kept staring at him, a small smirk present on their lips.
Ralsei blushed and sweated nervously, not knowing what to do at all in the situation anymore. “I—”
The door opened. Kris and Ralsei turned their gaze over to look at Susie, who was standing at the doorframe, holding a box.
“Hey guys, uh—” She stopped speaking for a moment once she realized what she walked in on. “Should I… come by later?”
Ralsei rapidly nodded in response, very embarrassed. Kris removed their hand from his chin and just gave Susie a thumbs up.
“Okay…” She awkwardly stood there before slowly reaching the doorknob to close the door. “Will be, uh. Leaving now. Bye.” She shut the door.
Ralsei’s entire face was flushed. Maybe even his entire body, too. He just stared at the door until Kris tapped on his shoulder to get his attention. He turned his head to look at them. “Hah… Yes?”
“Are you good,” they asked him, a tiny blush visible on their cheeks as well.
Ralsei nodded. “Yeah, just…” He instantly hid his face with his ears. “Ughh… Oh my goodness, Kris…”
Kris let out a tiny nose-laugh at the sight of Ralsei this embarrassed, again. “You’ll be fine,” they assured, patting the top of his head.
Ralsei giggled. “Well yes, but—” His sentence got interrupted by the sound of his second alarm. “Ah!” He reached over and quickly silenced it. “Sorry, that was just my second one! I should probably get rid of those, shouldn’t I?”
“Sure, I guess,” Kris replied, shrugging. “Why do you even have alarms? Isn’t time, like… Not really a thing here?”
“Well… Uhm, yeah.” He paused. “I don’t really know when those alarms are going to go off, they just do it sometimes.”
Kris laughed at that. “Pft, just get rid of them, then.”
“Okay. I will later.”
The two stared at each other in silence for a few seconds, again.
“...I’m going back to sleep,” Kris told Ralsei before they held him and buried their face in his warm scarf.
“Oh, yeah, uhm. Sweet dreams,” he said awkwardly, laughing a bit. “I’ll sleep too.”
“Mh, sweet dreams,” Kris mumbled, their eyes already shut and their voice tired. They quickly drifted off into slumber.
Maybe someday, Ralsei thought. Maybe someday they’ll know just how much they really mean to me.
