Summary
When Catelyn Stark is forced to make a deal with Lord Walder Frey of the Twins to gain passage, she cannot explain why she feels so wary about walking away with only a betrothal in place. As much as she hates it, Robb is marching into a war, and there isn't any guarantee that Robb will return to the Twins to make good on his promise. Therefore, Catelyn insists on a hasty marriage between Robb and a Frey girl before they continue on.
When Robb selects Jenni Frey, the second daughter of Lothar Frey, the twelfth son of Lord Walder, it cements the Frey's reluctant loyalties to the Starks and their war against the Lannisters. Can a girl that never expected more than a landed knight for a husband truly be the wife that the heir to Winterfell and the North truly needs?
(Essentially, Robb Stark marries his Frey girl before even reaching Riverrun and decides that dragging his wife along on a war march is a great idea if it gets her away from the Freys.)
