Summary
A decade after “selling his soul to capitalism”, according to his friends, fiscalist Emmanuel Castiel Novak runs back to his small hometown, bringing with him an unfathomable amount of guilt, the aftermath of a terrible sickness, and Levi-Nathan, a child he didn’t want but is determined to do right by.
There, he hopes he can find a way to repair some of his past mistakes.
Castiel isn’t seeking forgiveness; he knows what he did in the cutthroat corporate environment was deeply unethical. He betrayed the trust of his friends and nearly destroyed his family. The only thing he can hope for is providing a stable environment for Levi, his son who’s plagued with acute decision-making paralysis and can’t seem to function without him.
When Castiel discovers that one of Levi’s teachers, Mr. Dean, is an old flame, he’s forced to reconnect with his past. Can bridges be mended? Can betrayal be forgiven?
Or are some transgressions just too big to warrant another chance?
