Chapter Text
— Wemmbu sat still, his eyes lost in thought, his demon tail wasnt swaying behind him casually, it was stiff, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on but was too silent or polite to say it, which was weird, because Wemmbu was none of those things, he wasn't silent (when sane), nor was he polite, he was intimidating (If you could call a purple blob with a demon tail and horns intimidating), he just sat there, he felt like he was underwater, like moving his body drained his energy just like how he drained his resources in that STUPID ass fight with Flamefrags! He won though so it didn't really matter to him.. —
— Wemmbu was so out of it he didn't even hear Eggchan calling his name, it was like he was in his own (traumatic) bubble, trying to reach for someone unreachable, his eyes, usually filled with a fire and greed to get stronger, were now strangely dull, after all, he had completed basically everything he wanted to do, he had defeated Flamefrags, he had even took down two empires!, all while keeping Eggchan mostly safe. Actually—he had only come to visit the end because Eggchan insisted they did, so, he did. What Eggchan wanted. He got. —
— But a question had formed in the back of his head while they bantered and argued playfully along the way, a quiet heavy feeling in Wemmbu's gut. After defeating Flamefrags, that.. Question had formed, instead of brushing it off or treating it as something unimportant like he usually did with all his emotions, it kept nagging at him, and if he was gonna find the truth?, he was gonna find it, no matter what. Something about the question just made him curious!, and a curious Wemmbu was never a good Wemmbu, well, for the most part at least. —
— He finally snapped back into reality when he felt the cold of the end seep into his bones, he practically shot up from where he was sitting earlier, an undignified yelp escaping him, his eyes were wide with shock and mock betrayal as he stared at Eggchan- he had been so distracted earlier that Eggchan had taken his purple hoodie off!, just as he was about to curse him out, he suddenly froze, he felt as if..This behavior.., was like imitating someone, which was bullshit, Wemmbu didn't copy nobody!, yet, that feeling stuck. —
— Someone who didn't call him "lost cause" or "Last hope." And just allowed him to be himself in a world that made his sanity and reputation constantly turn on and off, so, why couldn't he remember that someone?, why couldn't he remember that someone with long pink hai!?—.. —
[ Eggchan ]: "BRO!, i took off your hoodie how are you not freezing?, like, stop tryna aura-farm bro, it's not working."
— Wemmbu looked down and.., oh, yeah, his purple hoodie was off, wait how'd Eggchan even do tha— ykw nevermind.., Wemmbu didn't want to think about it any longer, if he kept thinking about how he had been so distracted he might as well dig his own grave and jump in it!, Wemmbu looked back up at Eggchan and lunged for his hoodie. He was trying to regain some of his usual snarkiness and playful energy he usually had with his best friend. —
[ Wemmbu ]: "Bro's genuinely just hating for no reason. Did you even see me with that render distance of yours?"
— He teased playfully, though, it felt more like a way to temporarily cope (and maybe distract Eggchan from teasing him) with the fact that he was so zoned out his asshole of a best friend managed to take off his hoodie during it! —
— Eggchan just stared at him, his face as deadpan as it could get, they got into a ridiculous staring battle until Eggchan cracked first, a grin appearing on his face, he rolled his eyes playfully, looking away to hide just how happy he truly was, though the way his little wings on his head fluttered already told Wemmbu enuff. (Nufuli ref.). —
[ Eggchan ]: "Dalright broo, your just tryna distract yourself from the fact your aura-farming didn't work!"
— Wemmbu just smirked casually as he put his purple hoodie on again, his tail swishing behind him casually, he didnt bother to reply to Eggchan this time, he watched Eggchan retreat to the comforts of his own room, his shoes surprisingly silent, seriously, how does Eggchan do that.., but somehow manage to not be stealthy in the WORSE situations?, he was probably just going to write another book.Or just updating that probably 1000+ page lore book.., does he take a break from that damn book? —
— Though, Wemmbu's smirk quickly faded. The silence was back, and what replaced it wasn't smug or happy that he had made Eggchan embarrassed, it was.. Hollow. Like earlier, but now this time it was worst, had he lost all purpose after defeating Flamefrags?, had he?, or was he just bored?.., Wemmbu usually didn't think too hard about these types of things but. He had no choice now but to acknowledge it, he was bored. Bored of being the strongest.. And, tired. Tired of not remembering of..who the fuck he was thinking about, he felt that familiar urge to whine, throw things, or the tiring but satisfying crunch of a skull crushing underneath his mace, and the sound of the splatter of blood. —
— Wemmbu walked to a corner and sat in it, hugging his knees as he took a shaky breath, it was stupid. He had made fun of Eggchan weeks ago for taking deep breaths to calm himself down, and now, he was doing it too, but— He couldn't cry, he couldn't even form tears!, he.. Couldn't be normal, and, that stung more then anything, he felt as if.. Chains were bounding him to a ghost that he couldn't even reach for. He was trapped in his own mind, and he hated being helpless, you can't pot up for an emotional battle within yourself!, He could tell Eggchan but he felt as if the seraph was too pure for his..reckless self, for a lost cause last hope demon hybrid like him!, and that realization dawned on him. —
— He remembered a voice, not his own, not Minu's tired voice he got when he and Eggchan messed up, not Eggchan's nonchalant voice, and definitely not Flamefrags stupidly egoistic voice!, no, it felt..Soft. it felt soft in that way where you know you're safe, it's the same feeling he got when finally getting Eggchan back and was able to hang out with him, repair his stuff, and just vibe with his best friend and Minu, but different, like..a parent with their child or something, which was weird as shit cause Wemmbu could've sworn he was an orphan, or at least abandoned. —
'Technoblade never dies!" "Not even close baby!"
— What the hell was that..?, Wemmbu felt as if he was captured and instead of torturing him, they forced him to catch mist with his bare hands. To hold it until it became solid.., except his hands were chained and cut off unable to hold shit. Wemmbu couldn't even rely on himself to remember how things would go down when he was going insane and all he wanted was to be comforted. But that voice.., it, it didn't make him tremble with fear, it made him tremble with relief, as if his body remembered that he was safe even if his mind didn't. —
— ..Tec..never dies?, Wemmbu would say that sounded like a stupid quote. But it didn't, it wasnt, it sounded familiar even. Grounding. He burrowed his hands in his face, his tail not even lashing with irritation anymore, it was just limp, like a dead weight. His purple Demon wings— the one that usually took up all the space unapologetically and smugly, were now folded behind his back uncomfortably. His breathing started to become slightly more shallow as he remembered more. Though he wish he didn't. He knew he would eventually. —
— Wemmbu wished "tec'' or whatever his name was, was back. He didn't want to be alone with his stupid thoughts. It would just make him think more of Tec. His hands instinctively went up to his long purple hair, he really should cut it soon, it was becoming a hassle in fights..but, he just couldn't. It was the only memory of a ghost he couldn't catch. Manepear would hate that, wouldn't he?, he'd say to focus on combat or something equally shitty like that, Manepear might've been emotionless at this point to Wemmbu because Manepear looked like he didn't give a single shit. And he probably didn't. —
Wemmy (◕ᴗ◕✿)
Kid.
lost cause.
last hope.
— Was he any of those?, really?, he was Wemmbu, not Wemmy. He wasn't a kid anymore, even if he acted like one.., he wasn't either of both of those either. Wemmbu didn't know why he was so focused on the nicknames he had and remembered. Maybe it was a way to distract himself, like how the screams of people— the satisfying rush of adrenaline usually manage to distract him, temporarily of course, before reality came crashing down on him. not for killing those people, obviously. But for avoiding and distracting himself again and again until he forgot!, like an asshole who overstayed his welcome and was now paying the price. —
— His fists were clenched, if anybody walked in on him right now, they'd probably think it was just normal Wemmbu, he looked irritated, agitated, and angry as usual. Though, the reasons couldn't be any further from each other, one was purely combat, the other was.. Something. Something he didn't want to name. —
— He stared at his hands. The hands that had killed thousands of people, the hands that had defeated Flamefrags. The hands that were covered with blood and grime just days ago, and then back at Gambit and crucible Gambit and Crucible weren't bloodied, Eggchan had cleaned it before they arrived in the end.—
— He remembered the feeling of helplessness before, and now, it was starting to dawn on him that he was too deep in the pit of self-hatred, and that he wouldn't let anyone help him up. He was aggressive for no goddamn reason, it's just that his mood changed like these seasons! —
— "... why can't i remember my own fucking mentor other than Manepear?, Won't the strongest need to be able to remember it?, have I been a lost cause before Manepear even said it?" —
— That thought entered his mind like an uninvited guest, but Wemmbu couldn't grab his maces and elytras to intimidate the guest. The guest was himself after all. —
— He really was pathetic. He couldn't even remember technoblade —
