Chapter 1: This is all your fault.

Chapter Text

“Floyd, this is all your fault.”

“Yeah yeah you told me a million times goldfishie.”

Riddle and Floyd were currently stuck cleaning the library as punishment for causing a disturbance there.

All Riddle wanted to do was educate himself on magic blot, but of course he couldn’t even have that.

Floyd had come out of nowhere and made it his mission to get on his last nerve.

Effectively causing Riddle to chase him around the Library.

Thus leading to getting yelled at by Crowley making them end up where they currently were.

“Well I wouldn’t have to repeat myself if you’ve actually listened to me.” Riddle seethed.

He himself was incredibly angry that he was missing Heartsybul's daily croquet game.

What type of housewarden misses their own dorm game?

This wasn’t setting a good example for his card soldiers.

Riddle took a deep breath feeling himself getting frustrated all over again.

To avoid getting into further trouble he opted to just ignore Floyd choosing to focus on putting the books in the correct place.

“Ugg Goldfishie this is so boring! Let’s just leave Manta Ray probably won’t notice.”

Riddle didn’t respond in fact he enjoyed the simple task of putting the books back in place.

It was repetitive, he could admit that, but it was a peaceful task.

If he wasn’t doing this as a punishment or missing his dorm games he might’ve enjoyed it.

“Huh Goldfishie, why aren’t you answering me?”

Riddle huffed,” Because your idiocy is what got us into this mess.”

Floyd rolled his eyes, completely giving up on cleaning,”It could be worse you know? We could be stuck doing this for a whole week at least it’s for the day. I just didn’t know it was gonna be this boring.”
Riddle took a deep breath of course it was about what entertained Floyd.

Most of the time he didn't care less about who got in trouble or who had to suffer consequences as a result of his mood swings.

Most of the time.

RIddle couldn’t get what Floyd had said earlier out of his head.

“You always try so hard and never give up li’l Goldfish. I was just thinking how impressed I am. I was all, woah, you’re super awesome."

Did he truly mean that?

Riddle didn’t know he wished he did though.

What’s the point of being so smart if he couldn’t even figure out simple human interactions?

Although with Floyd nothing was very simple.

All of a sudden he got flicked on the forehead.

Jumping away he yelled,” Floyd, in what world would that ever be okay!”

Floyd merely shrugged, making Riddle even more upset,” You were thinking too hard.”

“Perhaps you don’t think enough!”

“No, I think just enough. I got scared your lil goldfish brain would explode with all your thinking.” Floyd replied nonchalantly.

Riddle sputtered,” That makes no sense!”

Floyd hummed,”Yeah maybe it does maybe it doesn't. Also I don’t think we’re supposed to be yelling in the library Goldfishie.”

Before Floyd could say anything else Riddle casted his signature spell “Off with your head”.

Ignoring the eel’s complaining Riddle simply turned around and walked in the other direction.

He wasn’t going to engage.

He wasn’t going to get upset.

He wasn’t going to yell.

Everything was fine for about two minutes.

“Hey Goldfish look what I found.”

Riddle turned around just as Floyd came running up to him.

In his hands was a medium sized book.

Floyd roughly shoved the book into RIddle’s hands.

Upon closer inspection the book was a worn purple color with gold accents on the corners.

The most notable thing about it was the fact that there was no title, instead it had a painted mirror on it.

“Where did you find this?” Riddle ran his hands across the book's front.

It felt like worn leather, almost giving off a warm feeling.

“I dunno, it kinda just fell out of the book shelf. Almost hit me on the head.”

Riddle silently wishing it had hit him responded,” I don’t see how this is any of my concern. Just put it back in the correct place.”

He held the book out so the eel could take it.

“I would’ve done that, but there’s like no sticker on it.” Floyd sighed completely ignoring the hand Riddle reached out to him.

“Huh how odd.” Riddle went to open the book checking for a sticker inside.

Just before he could, Floyd shouted “ Wait, stop!”

The red head jumped for what seemed like the millionth time today.

“What!”

Floyd fidgeted with the collar around his neck making quiet jingle sounds,” I don’t know, doesn't something bad happen when characters open the mysterious book?”

Riddle stared at him,” I have no idea what you are referring to.”

Floyd groaned,” Of course you don't, I forgot you live under a rock Goldfishie.”

“And you live in the ocean.”

Grinning Floyd retorted, “ That’s not the same thing.

“At least my insults make sense. I obviously don’t leave under a rock so what was the point of saying that? Now you just look foolish.”

“Whatever you say, Goldfish.”

Riddle huffed,” Now I would like to open this book without getting screamed at.”

Floyd backed up about a foot away from Riddle,”Suit yourself Goldfishie.”

“You're so childish.” Riddle sighed as he opened the book.
