For most reverse bang art pieces it all starts with a scene or idea in my head. Just a blip, one single moment. For this one here it was the idea of cop Shane Hollander arresting hockey player Ilya Rozanov but that Ilya is distraught, crying or in some emotional upheaval and Shane notices and perhaps doesn't go as hard on him as another officer would. That is where my concept ended and then happyholigays came along and word magicked a full fic around it in 5+1 style fic which is a style of writing that I utterly adore.
As part of her draft and us going back and forth on things is how the banner art came to be. The visual of a taller Ilya (because he's on skates) gazing down at Shane just about to kiss. For any of you that watch Off Campus the pose may look familiar from their season 1 promo poster where Garrett and Hannah are center-stage and hold each other like that. That poster definitely inspired my art but I used only the pose because it's all Hollanov of course in this reverse bang.
My art is free-hand drawn and some of it is traced from references but I usually mix many different images together to achieve something that doesn't exist exactly as seen in any pictures out there.

The banner art itself also features as a scene in the fic so I prepped it for insertion into the fic as well, separate from the promo banner.
