Work Text:
At first, he'd found the entire thing absolutely hilarious.
And look, see: He was used to high stacks of paperwork and verbal fights with his partner and trying his hardest not to loose his temper towards suspects. Specifically suspects who heard his name and assumed "Oh, this cop must be a girl", which... plainly put fuck them.
The truth of the matter is, his mother must've assumed she was having a girl and a boy. He wouldn't ever know if that was true. That's what their 'uncle' always claimed when he'd asked him why his brother had a masculine name while he didn't.
Well, his mother's alleged gut instinct apparently sucked ass. They'd been identical twins. Either way, people kept hearing his name and assumed that he must be a she. Sometimes he really wondered if he should just change his name.
But no, that was the only thing he had from his actual parents since he's pretty sure his surname isn't the one he had at birth.
He digresses.
Point was: His day to day life consisted of paperwork, getting looked at weird by suspects and chasing down said suspects if they weren't already in the interrogation room. And arguing with his partner, obviously.
His partner, who was currently staring at the note in his hands. Looking utterly baffled, dark eyes squinting at the word written on the purple paper. "Chastity?" Jae Lee asked, shook his head. "Me?"
Him? Chaste? God, absolutely not.
"Damn," he whistled, grinning like the little shit he was, "I think they mixed your designations up"
Vaguely, he gestured over to the young man clad in white, who held an equally purple note boldly stating "Lust". Which... no, this must've been a mix-up.
Jae Lee looked more offended than anything else. "What's that supposed to mean?" He asked, narrowing his eyes as he looked down at his partner. "Anouk. Anouk stop it, don't look at me like that-" he swatted at the shorter man with a mild pout.
The dark-haired man ducked, sticking out his tongue. "Just saying, you're a freak" he answered lightly. "I'd know. I have to deal with you constantly"
"The dog collar does look not very chaste~" the guy with the second purple card commented serenely, all soft smiles with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
While Jae Lee pouted, Anouk doubled over laughing.
"I like this guy already!"
~
He really, really wanted to take back what he'd said.
The things he learned while in this 'dream world' were as such:
1, Jae Lee and Liu Xiao were partnered up for this event to sing a duet. Anouk was assigned no singing role, he was supposed to help with the sets and stages since Keliks could only do so much without opposable thumbs.
2, The redhead constantly side-eying Jae Lee with disdain was Jae Lee's ex. He was also very, very dead according to the blond guy and the brunet guy. Just like the pink-haired girl, though her twin seemed really angry at the mention
3, Liu Xiao was a flirt, and his target was Jae Lee. Outside rehearsal, he kept making remarks and sending him looks.
Anouk trusted his partner, he did. But he did not trust this... this freak! Not when he kept flirting like that.
And then, finally, he got to see rehearsal. God, he'd never been more upset.
Sure, they weren't actually doing anything. They were only performing. But did they have to look like they were making out or, god forbid, worse?
By the time of the final performance, he'd decided that he hated nothing and no one more than Liu Xiao. Solely because that oblivious dumbass was his oblivious dumbass of a boyfriend.
So, when it was the duo's turn to perform, he spitefully dragged him down to his level and smashed their lips together- directly in front of Liu Xiao. Just to make a point, he bit down until he tasted blood.
With a smug grin, he let go. Watched as his boyfriend dazedly touched his bleeding lip, looking horribly down bad.
It took a moment, then the white-clad man clapped. "My," he said airily and with a soft laugh, "that's one way to confess, isn't it? Not how I thought this would go, but certainly entertaining"
Dumbfounded, Anouk blinked at him. "Wait, did you not realize we're a couple?" he asked, mildly hysteric when the words caught up. Was this whole flirting thing an act to make him confess to his own boyfriend?
Before he could ask, a flurry of kisses was pressed against his lips. "I'm gonna make sure this won't happen again" Jae Lee muttered between kisses, huffing. "Can't believe he thought you idiot aren't already my idiot"
Then, his eyes gleamed. He could just sense that this was an incoming, terrible idea.
"..... hey, Anouk. Would you like another tattoo?"
Hm... or perhaps a great one.
(Later, after awaking from an odd dream, Jae Lee dragged him to his studio and told him to pick from some matching tattoos. By the end of the day, the chosen designs were on the wrists of two people.)
