    Summary

Voldemort's regard for the Malfoy family always just read like an exhausted stepdad in old age. Look at what Bellatrix, Greyback, and the others were doing—dropping bodies left and right. Lucius, his son, and his wife were absolute failures in the war; they did nothing. Arresting them would have been a shame, but keeping them alive was even more shameful.

"And to think Lucius turned out to be this useless," Voldemort looked skywards.

Abraxas, baby, when I said I can accept the boy, it was a youthful haze. I wanted to get with you; I didn't mean I would put up with him for the rest of our lives—particularly the rest of mine, Tom thought.

"Look, it's Potter! He's coming!" Lucius called, pointing sharply at the lone figure breaking through the trees.

Tom rolled his eyes internally, wishing the boy had come with a firing squad that would aim for the wandless dimwit.

"That's very nice, Lucius. We all appreciate your contribution," Tom drawled, the gears in his head groaning as he tried to recall if there was ever legal registration in the Wizarding World against stepparents abandoning children that had been left behind by dead partners.
