Chapter Text
When Scott Goldsmith left Oakhurst with Shelby and Drift he didn't really know what to do. Of course he promised Abolish he would do more good than bad in his new unlife but the market for jobs was really limited as he had no work experience.
When Shelby was ranting to him the other day about some fanfiction website as he was skimming the recent news, something caught his eye.
Something about abilities and powers on the rise in today's society.
Shelby quieted down and basically climbed on him to look at his phone. Her noises of excitement was something he could never forget. Something about how the world would adapt when a knock on the door startled them out of their thoughts.
Scott answered and surprisingly saw Cleo and Pearl standing there. They looked shaken. Cleo spoke first. “It finally happened. They drove us out.”
“The new townsfolk?!” Scott asked incredulously.
“Yeah…” Pearl said sadly.
“Wait, what about my castle?”
“We trapped every inch of it. We plan to wait out their little lifespans, maybe wait for the curse to roll around again and we out of your hair.” Pearl switched up instantly as she started naming all the gruesome deaths the traps would lead to.
Shelby came over and dragged them both onto the couch as Scott heated up some mix between hot chocolate and blood. He silently thanked Drift for her culinary research into what vampires can and can't eat.
“So we were thinking about applying for a job at the agency…” he heard the newcomers say.
Maybe he would consider it if they were going to.
He wouldn't let Shelby anywhere near the crossfire if he did.

That was why he was here now. Face to face with the most notorious villain in the city and his little vet.
The plan was to have Impulse kill him so Abolish couldn't press the repercussions onto them. Cleo’s magical mind control took a toll on her and she was now lying in a comatose state in the theatre. He prayed Pearl would stay far away from this all.
When Ringmaster went to use his powers on him it was revealed that he planned to inflict a heart attack as he seemed to search around with his power for a heartbeat.
Scott threw back his head and laughed in his cold way as he saw his eyes widen at the apparent lack of a heartbeat.
Scott just kept walking towards him in a slow manner, like a predator finally cornering a particularly stubborn prey. He teleported behind the man and put him in a chokehold, using a slight amount of his natural strength.
The poor vet crept up behind him as Ringmaster drove a knife into him. A silver knife.
He would have reacted more if not for the Grian hitting him with Ringmaster’s discarded crutch and breaking a rib.
He would have scoffed in the irony as he did the same thing to him but was silenced with a sudden harsh pain in his side.
A gunshot rang out. He turned his head to the side as he could already hear the rib fixing itself.
There stood fucking Abolish Veylock.
