"Closed Inside"
Today I feel... unimportant.
I feel the walls growing around my mind.
Something, that I thought was dormant,
Turns out, was never left behind.
You could say that I closed myself in a cage,
But you're wrong, since there are no doors.
Now that my mind feels like a darkened stage,
With me in the corner, barely touching the floors.
I'm curled up with knees pulled up to my chin,
And eyes heavy, staring at the ground.
The cold around digs into my skin,
But I'm not letting out even a single sound.
I feel unimportant; not worthy of your time.
Of anyone's time, to be blunt.
Speaking up now would feel like a crime,
Or like I'm putting on some stunt.
I know I can reach out, ask quietly for help,
And that you say I am no bother.
And yet, my hands are tied, my mouth full of kelp
And this though, that this isn't proper.
I call out for help by speaking my mind-
The only good way that I know.
But if you found me here, better leave me behind,
Before I'll pull you below.
