Poem - Favourite Fantasy / Delusions

Summary:

Imagination is a wild and unwieldy creature sometimes.

Work Text:

”Favourite Fantasy / Delusion”

You know what my favourite pastime has been?
It was to imagine the future, when
I can hold you in my arms and feel
That you're here, that we're real.
When I can look into those eyes, deep like the sea,
My hand against your cheek, finally free.
Place kiss upon your lips, full of devotion,
Or caress your hair with a delicate motion.
The ideas, of course, sometimes ran away,
But wherever they went, you always had the final say.
Now I'm lost, not sure where to go,
When imagination refuses to slow
Down; trying to go towards these cherished places,
Where I can look upon you and whisper sweet praises,
Because now it feels like some false hope,
Like tightening the loop of an invisible rope.
I know these scenes will stay in my head;
I don't regret them, they felt like a bread
Given to a starving person for so long,
Simply because my feelings are so strong.
But all that I want, is apply to your will;
For when the time comes, I can keep my hands still.
So I need to give up on these visions of mine,
Because even if they are so sweet and divine,
I know they can't happen, at least not for now,
And deluding myself, I cannot allow.
