Vasch's thoughts were abruptly interrupted by Kiku's voice as the light breeze flew past their ears. "I decided to try something a bit new..." Kiku lent his hand, in it was a small rice ball that resembled Vasch. He stared at it with an unreadable expression before taking it and staring at it even more. Kiku had even gotten his cranky expression on point! "Cute..." He thought, still staring at his rice ball.
"... Do you... Not like it...?" The Japanese asked shyly, wondering if he had accidentally offended his friend. The blonde raised his head, onyx colored eyes with a hint of chocolate staring right back at his. "It's fine... I guess."
Ater taking in Erika as his sworn sister, he and she began to copy some of each other's habits. One of which Vasch himself had recently noticed, he found himself unable to eat food with little faces on them as he would feel a pang of guilt after doing so. Unless he had gotten softer over the years, he must've gotten this unusual habit of his from his sister. But he wouldn't ever tell anyone that.
Kiku smiled at his friend's response. Vasch was known to respond like that so he hadn't paid any mind and decided to grab a rice ball, this one with his face on it. The corners of the Swiss man's mouth twitched —as if to smile— he quickly turned away with a small blush on his cheeks. He still couldn't bring himself to eat his rice ball.
"You should eat. The food might get cold..." The black haired man decided to start eating, his friend couldn't help but stare. "Cute..." He took a small bite of his food, savoring the taste of the salted grilled salmon.
The sun was warm, not too warm but not too cold either, like a mother's embrace, or... "Kiku's..." Vasch cleared his head before his thoughts went off road again.
"Basch...?" The green eyed man immediately looked at Kiku. His friend had difficulty with pronunciation, especially with pronouncing foreign names. While Vasch didn't really mind his new name (nickname?), he realized it had started to grow on him.
"... Ja...?" He responded after a moment of silence between them. "You... Barely touched your food. Are you feeling alright?" "I'm fine." "I see... Would you like some bento?" "Mmh" The Swiss man nodded as he shoved the rest of his rice ball into his mouth as he grabbed his plate of bento, almost choking on his food. He decided to try to strike a conversation, as silence—despite it being relaxing—wasn't a good way to communicate at the moment.
"Your food's pretty good. It's tasty" he chewed, watching the other's expression. He couldn't help it when he looked so beautiful right in front of him! Was this... Love...? "No way...!!!" He thought, feeling his face flush a bit. The Japanese man, also a little flustered, let out a shy 'thank you' as he ate his own bento, not realizing a few rice grains were on the corners of his mouth. The blonde—almost out of instinct— wiped the corners of the other's mouth with his fingers, letting out a 'That's undignified.'
After realizing what he was doing, he immediately sat back in his place as both of them looked away, flustered. He couldn't help but think of how Kiku's skin felt against his touch. "Soft... Creamy... His lips... Kissable and–..." He immediately shook off his train of thought before it could spiral out of control and cleared his throat. He snuck a quick glance at his friend, he had his hand placed on where Vasch's had been, his face still flushed. He cleared his throat again.
"You should... Finish your food." "Ah, hai... You're right. I assume you've already finished your food?" "Yeah... I think I'm full." "I- I see..."
There was... Silence once more. But this time it was... Awkward..? Maybe more than that. Vasch didn't know. He didn't want to. All he wanted was to feel the other's hand in his, his lips grazing his, his body flushed against his, and his–
Before he knew it, he found himself leaning towards his friend. His hands cupping the other's face. He leaned closer, their breaths intermingling and their faces red. This was it, he would either ruin his friendship or enter a relationship with his (best?) friend. He didn't care —maybe it was in the heat of it all— he leaned closer.
"Ba...?" Kiku barely let out a whisper as he felt their lips touch. "Kiku..." The Swiss thought. He could feel a pair of hands on his sleeve. The Japanese man tasted like rice, salmon and tuna mayo. Maybe it was the rice balls. Vasch didn't know what he was expecting but he didn't care. All he could care about was his... Friend...? Lover...? He would figure that out later.
Out of breath, they both eventually pulled away from the kiss, disappointedly, their chests heaving up in down as they breathed onto each other's faces. "That was..." The blonde felt the brown eyed male silence him with a touch of his finger to his lips. "B- Basch..." "Ki... Ku..." Vasch panted in between breaths, his hands still cupping the other's face. "Je– I... I love you..." The black haired man looked away shyly before adding "I... L- liebe di..."
