Work Text:

Stacy tapped his foot impatiently as he waited at the arrivals hall. It was a beautiful sunny day, the strong winds buffeting the Canary Islands chasing away the clouds and clearing the skies. But the winds had also delayed Joe’s flight, and Stacy would rather have all the gloomy days in the world if it meant having Joe beside him forever.

A crowd of passengers emerged from the swinging doors and Stacy spotted Joe pushing his way through them towards the front. Joe broke from the crowd and sprinted the short distance between him and Stacy, vaulting over the barrier and dropping his bag to jump into Stacy’s arms. Stacy laughed as he nuzzled Joe and planted a kiss into Joe’s hair.

‘I’ve missed you very much too, Joeykins,’ he said softly as he hugged Joe tighter. Joe said something incomprehensible, his face buried in Stacy’s shirt, but Stacy knew that Joe just wanted to get out of there. He let Joe down onto his feet gently, Joe grumbling until Stacy turned around and nodded, letting Joe hop onto his back like a koala’s joey and making himself comfortable. Joe giggled into Stacy’s ear and licked it as Stacy picked up Joe’s bag and started making his way to the rental.

-

The journey that would have taken twenty minutes took thirty. As Stacy drove, Joe’s hands wandered across the gearbox onto Stacy’s hand and up his arm, and then into Stacy’s hair. He waited for the car to stop at the lights before he pulled Stacy’s lips towards his. Lost in the extended kiss, Stacy only came back down to earth when the car behind them began blaring its horn to get them to move.

‘It’s all your fault, dickhead,’ Stacy said with a smirk as he shifted the car into gear and powered the car past the junction.

Joe laughed and shoved Stacy in the shoulder. ‘That’s not what your tongue was saying a minute ago, stop lying and get us home,’ he said as he found Stacy’s hand and wrapped them up in his.

Joe padded across the dark bedroom and found his way into the large king-sized bed, his brown hair messy and still damp from his shower. Stacy opened his arms and Joe found his spot, slotting himself into Stacy’s side as Stacy played with the TV remote.

‘Ready, babes?’ Stacy asked as he found Leviticus on streaming. Joe nodded, comfortably cocooned in the sheets and the feel of Stacy’s body heat all around him. Stacy started the movie. As Naim and Ryan wrestled on screen, Stacy rested his head on Joe’s, breathing through his boyfriend’s hair and enjoying being close to Joe. His fingers drew reassuring circles on Joe’s shoulder as the deliverance healer cursed their characters in turn.

The pair watched as the entity began to stalk their characters, chasing and terrorizing Naim. Stacy jumped and accidentally gripped Joe’s arm hard at one of the jump scares, causing Joe to collapse into a fit of laughter. ‘That’s literally you doing the jump scare, you numpty.’

‘Oh, shut up, of course I remember filming it, you had to pretend to be a scared boy running away,’ Stacy snarked back. He pinned Joe down onto the bed and kissed his boy hard to shut him up. Joe laughed into the kiss and surrendered to Stacy, letting his boyfriend win for now. They settled into a comfortable cuddle, Stacy spooning Joe with their legs entwined and Stacy’s arm draped over Joe. They joked about which parts the fans would be obsessing over for the next month, Joe adamant that the fisting scene would be the breakout hit.

Stacy groaned. ‘You’re such a freak Joe, of course that’s the one you obsess about.’

Joe smirked at Stacy. ‘Only because it’s your fist and no one else’s,’ he said with a wink.

‘Oh fuck off,’ Stacy replied and nibbled on Joe’s ear.

As the film ended and Frank Ocean sang over the end credits, Stacy tucked his chin into Joe’s neck. ‘I’m glad you flew all the way here to watch our movie with me,’ Stacy said quietly.

‘Don’t be silly, Stace, you know how much I’ve been missing you too,’ Joe replied sleepily, his energy sapped from the long journey. ‘Next time you land a role in a movie, make sure they let spouses come along for the filming.’

‘Spouse? Joseph Mark Bird, are you proposing to me?’ Joe could feel Stacy grinning.

‘Only if you say yes, otherwise forget what I said,’ Joe said as he felt a blush of embarrassment creeping up his neck.

‘You know I love you no matter what, even if you decide to run off with another man,’ Stacy teased. ‘I’ll just be waiting here for you to come back to me.’

‘I’ll take your word for it, Stace,’ Joe replied as he tilted his face up to find Stacy’s soft lips. Stacy kissed him tenderly, their tongues meeting and gently tussling as the TV went black. Wrapped up in a comfortable bed with the feel of his boyfriend all around him, Joe never felt more at home.

Notes:
