A Want to Gather

Summary:

Robinton plots goodnatured plots.

Work Text:

Robinton struggled to hide his excitement for the first time in a long time. Just seeing how the holderfolk reacted to Zuko’s fire lizards’ game, and the baubles created by the game, was heartening.

He’d heard from Lytol that he’d made Zuko take a break when he’d noticed the young man had stopped responding to his customers’ small talk. Given that Zuko had wanted to do the stall at least partially to practice the language, and how he’d take time to himself when too frustrated for words, he’d fully approved.

And he’d helped make sure he made up for lost practice by sending him off with the children. Though, given the looks Zuko had sent him throughout the rest of the Gather, he didn’t appreciate it, even if he did make use of it. The young man was very practical that way.

But that game! The fire lizards’ odd pyrokinetic game. He’d found it enthralling as he’d watched it grow, from just fire to flame and sparking leaves to fire, leaves and sand, to the elegant game that using aspects of what Zuko described and AIVAS agreed were the traditional four elements of FIre, Air, Water, and Earth.

It was also the way the younger fire lizards, the ones who couldn’t manipulate fire, were diving and weaving around the others to pick up bits of glass that caught his attention. Zair had done that as well, the little bronze had all his prizes on this bedroom windowsill.

With a bounce in his step he really couldn’t’ help, Robinton moved quickly to his meeting with the Benden Weyrleaders to tell them how the Gather had gone. And to suggest the activity be added to a Landing Gather, where more people were familiar with Zuko’s fair and their creative activities.

And, possibly, having Zuko visit the major Holds on Gathers as well.
