Jason is not Bruce's prodigal son. He’s always thought himself more of a Shakespearean tragedy; Hamlet’s Ghost, perhaps, dead before the story even began.
But he's alive, and in Gotham, and using his criminal empire to run Crime Alley. And, somehow, he's on increasingly less frosty terms with the Bats.
It's been months since he eased up on the killing in the interest of not being run out of Gotham, and Batman's veritable army of costumed child crimefighters have begun sharing information and resources. Despite this, Jason still wasn't expecting Batman's call to request access to the Alley for a case. He invites himself along anyway.
What's supposed to be a simple interrogation quickly spirals out of control, and Jason is forced to confront a number of things he'd be happy to leave dead.
