That was the simple truth that he had been ignoring his entire life. One that he had been reminded of once All Might crushed his dream atop that rooftop.
On that day, Izuku gave up.
On that day, a long dormant power awoke. It whispered poisonous words, because it knew that the time was right.
[ Do you want to be a hero? ]
The boy knew the truth, yet wished it anyways. He knew what was being asked of him, yet he accepted anyway.
If ‘Midoriya Izuku’ cannot be a hero, then it stands to reason that ‘someone else’ can take his place.
And yet, in that swirl of the kaleidoscope, in that internal clash between sinner and saint, a single soul was quicker on the draw and grabbed him before he could fully fall off the precipice.
On that day, a powerless boy meets the monster that desires redemption.
