Chapter Text
October 2003
Tojo Fushiguro groaned as light streamed into the bedroom. A headache pounded behind his eyes while he could hear the quiet cries of a baby.
Megumi.
He let out another groan, swinging his legs over the bed and standing up, walking slowly over to the crying child's crib. He picked Megumi up and essentially shoved a bottle in his face as he reached for his phone that was laying on top of the dresses. He clicked open his phone and found a message.
New Mission
2 Targets - Terminate
1 Female Adult (Kiori Itadori)
1 Male Adult (Jin Itadori)
Description:
Two scientists that have run amok of a higher up. Bodies need to be disposed of.
Toji sighed before shooting off a quick text accepting the job before clicking through the mission folder, finding pictures, an address and other notes about the couple. He almost put his phone down when he saw a note on the bottom that made him pause.
2 previous assassination attempts : failed
Reward : ¥ 350 Million
He sucked in a breath. Two failed attempts but enough money to live off comfortably for a few years if he cut back just a little on the gambling as well as drink himself into a stupor on his wife's grave? Perfect. He shot another text to the neighbor kid, needing someone to watch over Megumi, before flipping his phone shut. He bounced Megumi in his arms before placing him on a pillow, bottle still in his small hands. The 10 month olds eyes blink owlishly up at his father as Toji put together a small bag of things.
The man didn’t say a word, just softly grunting in response as the baby worked on his bottle. When a knock came on the small but nice apartment door he opened it and offered a small nod to Ryo Shimizu as the teenager stepped into the house. Tokji liked the kid, quite responsible but didn’t ask any questions. Came, took his money, made sure his kid didn’t die while he was on a mission or ‘work trip’ and left.
“You know the drill,” Toji grumbled out as he passed the kid through the doorway.
“Of course Fushiguro-san” the kid bowed, heading into the house to find Megumi.
Toji nodded again before shutting the door, locking it behind him. The drive was slow, traffic in the Tokyo area always a pain before he pulled into a small parking garage a few blocks over. Walking towards an apartment building he quickly ascended the stairs and found himself standing in front of a door. Taking a deep breath he tried the handle. Unlocked. He smirked a little. This is why he preferred to do this during the day time. People never locked their doors during the day. Yes security risks were higher but he was raised in a clan, his records were practically non-existent.
He walked in softly, barely making a sound which was impressive for someone his size. He could make out the movement and voice of two adults in the living room.
“I think I heard the door open,” a woman's voice said.
“I’ll check it,” a man’s replied.
Toji is behind the small alcove in the halfway separating the living room from the front door. He flipped a knife in his hand preparing to strike the moment the man was in his view and out of the woman's.
The man with pink hair moved forward, eyes focused on the door, just missing tojo when he stuck. Lunging forward with inhuman speed, clasping a hand over the other mouth and slitting his throat in one clean slice. He felt the man go limp in his arms and let him onto the floor gently. Before brandishing the knife, making his way towards the living room when he froze.
Cursed energy.
He whispered a curse before swapping his knife for something a little stronger, reaching inside the curse which sat perched on his shoulder.
“Jin?” he heard the woman call.
He walked forward quietly before he saw the woman, standing in front of the couch. She had black hair cut into a short bob with bangs. His face contorted into a twisted smirk at the sight of her.
The woman’s eyes narrowed, an almost imperceptible shift taking over her entire being.
“Who are you,” she ground out. Voice surprisingly deeper.
Tojo simply raised an eyebrow in response before lunging forward. His eye widened fractionally as he felt a pressure on him, something pulling him down to the ground.
“You’re a strong one aren’t you,” the woman noted. “Most wouldn’t be able to resist the gravity this well.” she murmur.
Ah, gravity, Toji thought. Easy enough to counter, especially at his strength. And he was close enough for a longer ranged weapon to hit.
“You look familiar though, and you don’t seem surprised at my use of a cursed technique despite having no- ah a heavenly restriction yes? You are perhaps the Ze-”
Shink.
Toji smiled as the inverted Spear of heaven cut clean through the woman's neck. Technique falling immediately. He stood up, rubbing his neck from the tension. He went to grab the body, feeding the main potion to his cursed spirit before moving towards the head when he froze. Her eyes looked strangely alive for a decapitated head but that wasn’t what made Toji freese. Her bangs had shifted from falling and now exposed a neat row of stitches. Across the forehead.
“Shit” he murmured before grimacing as he took hot of the head. Face pinching in disgust he tugged on her hair a little, a seam splitting down her forehead. The curse on his shoulder, normally silent, growled as an influx of cursed energy filled the room.
“Holt shit, hold shit, holy shit,” he said, eyes wide. He had been raised by the Zenin, a fact many, including himself, wished to forget. But that didn’t mean that he forgot the lessons he learned. Especially about the historical Curse Users. Not many knew of the mind switching sorcerer but the Zenin did and it was a secret held close to the chest, especially since he was the beginning of their line. Toji’s mouth dropped open as he pulled back the skull cap to reveal a brain with a small mouth.
“So, disgrace to the Zenin clan, you have found me.”
Toji grimaced, holding the head even further from him. The cursed energy was malicious. What he could perceive made his skin crawl.
Toji simply nodded before dropping the skull cap and grabbing the inverted spear of Heaven.
“Are you sure you wish to do such a thing? After all I could help you-”
Stab
Toji took a deep breath as the sorcerer's words died with him. Walking over to the stove he found a large pit and set the brain inside, and promptly set fire to it with a match and some paper.
He went and reassembled the head and took a picture of the head and then the other man - Jin’s body before feeding them to his curse. Insurance that they were dead. He walked over to the burning pot and doused it with water, pleased to see the pile of ashes in the bottom. He sighed in relief, Kenjaku was dead. Welp that was now no longer his issue.
He went to go clean up, making sure there were no residuals or a trace of blood when he heard it. A small cry. He walked towards the bedroom, knife raised when he came face to face with a small child. He had tufts of pink hair and couldn't be any more than seven months old. He was a small thing, who had probably been taking a nap while he murder his parents.
He angrily fished out his phone as he picked up the child. Holding ht ebay in one arm he dialed his contact.
“You didn’t tell me there was a child,” he bit out.
“Well we thought it was of no pro-”
“You know I charge extra if children are involved.”
The line went silent. “Well yes but see he wasn’t a target-”
“He’s still here.”
“Dispose of him, drop him off at an orphanage, I don’t care. We will add another ¥500,000 to the-”
“Make it a million.”
“Fine Fushiguro-sama. An additional ¥1,000,000 will be added to your total.”
“Wonderful.”
With that he hung up and looked at the kid. He was cute, disturbingly so. His pink hair is incredibly endearing. Toji sighed, ready to dispose of the brat when he paused. This is possibly the child of Kenjaku, which came with so many complications it gave him a headache. He can’t possibly be left to a normal orphanage. Killing would be the best option but he hesitated, watching the way the child’s eyes tracked him with a thumb in his mouth. His mind went back to his own child currently waiting at home.
He sighed, head falling forward. He blinked as he felt a hand reach into his hair.
“Damn it,” he murmured. He looked around the room, grabbing any diapers, formula and clothes, shit was expensive and tossing it into his curse. Before walking out of the room.
“Megumi gets a sibling I guess,” he murmured, closing the door behind him, a clean, non-suspicous apartment left in his wake.
