Summary
Seven years of saying the right things, laughing at the right moments, of making his body into a thing that belongs to everyone else.
He loves it, mostly. He loves the music and the stages and the way his member’s faces light up when they nail a difficult part. He loves the fans, their earnestness, the way they hold their signs with both hands like they’re praying.
But there is a version of San that lives behind his ribs, a coiled, ugly thing that wants things he can’t say out loud, and sometimes it wakes up and snarls, and today it’s been snarling all morning, pacing the cage of his body, hungry.
The next fan approaches San’s table and San looks up to greet them, and time stops.
