“People are saying Xiaojun and Hendery are spotted at your concert now.”
“Yeah, I think several fans took pictures of them.”
“Do you think they’d notice me, too?”
Wumuti held back a laugh, raising an eyebrow at Bang Chan, whose eyes were fixed on his phone.
“Well, I don’t think so,” Wumuti said, and Chan lowered his phone to grin at her. “Despite your horribly disguised outfits, nobody recognized you.”
“Hey!” Bang Chan gasped, dropping his phone to the bed and shifting closer to Wumuti’s pillow to get to her. “I thought that was a perfectly good disguise, babe!”
“No, it was not.”
“Muti-ya! It was great!”
“Channie.” Wumuti flashed him a grin and said, “Let’s rewind, shall we?”
*
“Do you think this is good enough?”
“Of course! This is how we blend in,” Bang Chan said, sliding out of the car as the other three did, too. “It’s called hiding in plain sight.”
“Wouldn’t this make us look like crazy fanboys?”
“That’s the point. Besides, if we weren’t dressed like this, I’m sure Han and Changbin would have given off the crazy fanboys vibe anyway.”
“Hey!” Jisung protested. “What’s wrong with what I did?”
“Well, the banner is a little too much.”
“What?” he squawked, holding up the colorful banner full of Hyun’s face. “What’s wrong with this? It’s endearing!”
“It’s creepy.”
Changbin snorted, and Bang Chan turned to him. “You’re no different, Binnie. You have Rui’s face on your chest.”
“That’s what I’m disguised as!” Changbin argued, stretching his fabric out and glancing down at Rui’s face on his shirt. “I’m supposed to be a fanboy whose bias is Rui. And what about Innie? He has a fox tail on!”
“But I’m a fox, hyung!” Jeongin whined. “And Haru’s a fox, too! Since I’m going as Haru, it makes sense.”
“No, it does not.”
“It does!”
“Can we just go in now?” Jisung leaned against the car as he frowned. “I have to see Hyun.”
With a hum, Chan locked the car and led the rest of them through the entrance and into the concert hall. When they were disguised carefully like this, it was obvious that they weren’t going to be recognized.
Who would think that four grown adults dressed as XLOV in bright, colorful fuzzy pajamas were members of Stray Kids?
No one, and that was exactly why Chan had chosen to go to the concert looking like this. They had even put XLOV’s wigs on, which would make them absolutely invisible to the fans around them. With their masks and wigs added, it was a perfect disguise.
It was sort of hard to borrow the outfits and wigs from XLOV in the first place, but Wumuti had only given him a suspicious look and said nothing else before handing Chan her outfit along with the red wig, the socks, and the bag. The other three had done the same, although Jisung had done something so bad that he had to wash Hyun’s outfit beforehand. Chan didn’t even want to ask what he did to it.
Jeongin had even managed to get a fox tail, too. Chan didn’t ask where he got it either, but it came with the outfit, so the only plausible explanation was that Haru had given it to him. Meanwhile, Changbin had no problem asking Rui for her pink pajamas and wig, the problem lay in how he put them on.
“This shirt is so tight,” Changbin huffed, stretching his arms up and scratching at the fuzzy sleeves. “I knew I shouldn’t have gone to the gym before the concert.”
“Then why did you?”
Changbin looked down guiltily and muttered, “I wanted to impress Rui.”
“Here are our seats!” Chan said, glancing at the tickets and pointing at the seats in the corner.
There were several eyes on them, but Chan shrugged it off as he slid past them, murmuring a few “sorry” and “excuse me” as he tried to get to their seats.
“Whoa, those outfits look so accurate!” someone whispered as Chan walked past, and he grinned under his mask.
Of course it looked accurate. He had gotten the clothes from XLOV themselves, after all.
As soon as they all flopped down onto their seats, Chan breathed out a sigh of relief. His heart pounded in his chest, impatiently waiting for the show to begin.
“This is so exciting,” Jeongin said, knees bopping in anticipation. “Can we go backstage afterwards?”
“Yeah, but I’ll have to call Muti first,” Chan said. “She doesn’t know we’re here yet.”
“Wouldn’t it be better if we told them?” Changbin asked, leaning back in his seat as he tugged at the sleeves again, trying hard not to tear the fabric. “I think Rui already knew something was up.”
“That’s because you can’t keep a secret, hyung.”
“Hey, I, too, can keep a secret!”
“You can’t keep anything from Rui. Unlike me, I’m an expert at surprising Hyun!” Jisung said. “Hyun still thinks I’m working out right about now. I even changed my outfit at the gym yesterday to take a picture for her, pretending that I’m there. Hyun will never know!”
They all looked at Jisung, then Changbin hummed in agreement.
“Well, it makes sense. You’re good at that stuff,” he said, sinking into the seat. “You did steal all of our stuff that one time.”
“Exactly!”
“Wait! Wait, it’s starting!” Jeongin hissed, holding his arms out and shushing his hyungs once the light went out.
The intro music started, and if Chan was being honest, he had been on the other side before, feeling nervous before their show started, but this—waiting for his partner to come out and have the show of their life—was just as nerve-wracking.
Chan fucking loved it.
Once the curtains dropped, the four of them went absolutely still. Chan stared and stopped breathing altogether, while Jeongin’s breath hitched, and he even let out the tiniest squeak. Changbin leaned forward, eyes wide in disbelief, and Jisung slapped a hand over his mouth to conceal his incoherent whine.
“Oh, god,” Changbin muttered. “I think I’m having a stroke.”
“Quiet, hyung, I can’t hear Haru breathe with you talking like that,” Jeongin said, swooning in his seat. “Haru’s so gorgeous today.”
“This is so unreal,” Jisung said, his voice muffled by his own palms. “What the hell, actually?”
As for Chan, he stayed quiet, silently basking in Wumuti’s appearance tonight, even if all he could see now was her silhouette. He fidgeted with his own hands, a temporary method to hold himself back from feeling too much excitement just from this.
“Muti,” Chan whispered under his breath, swallowing hard. “Fuck.”
*
“You were amazing, Muti noona!” Bain said, squeezing Wumuti’s shoulders with a wide grin. “Like, it was great! You all were! I was mesmerized!”
“You’re flattering us, Bain-ah,” Wumuti said, smiling as she exchanged another hug with Bain.
“No, I’m definitely not,” he said, freezing a bit as his eyes glazed over Haru’s shoulder. He shook his head and added, “I’m serious, you all just—”
“Slay?”
“Hell yeah!”
Rui chuckled, holding back a laugh when Bain pulled her and Hyun into a tight hug and then pulled Haru in as well.
“This was so much fun. I can’t wait to go to another show—” Bain cleared his throat, blinking over Hyun’s shoulder, and Wumuti cocked his head to the side.
“Bain, are you okay?”
“Yeah, no, it’s just…don’t freak out,” Bain said, “but there are four muscular, creepy-looking fanboys dressing as you and staring at you weirdly at the door.”
“What?” Wumuti said confusedly, and they all turned around. “Oh!”
Wumuti’s mouth fell open, unsure what to say as she stood frozen on the spot. She couldn’t really believe what she was seeing now, actually.
There he was, Bang Chan, in the flesh, wearing Wumuti’s blue pajamas with the bunny bag slung over his shoulder. Not only that, he was wearing those white socks, too, that were pulled up to his calves. He had the red wig on, as did the rest of them, with different colors. Jeongin stood next to Chan, fidgeting with a fox tail from behind him while he was in Haru’s white pajamas, which looked awfully short on him for some reason.
And he wasn’t the only one with an ill-fitting outfit. Changbin seemed to be suffering somewhat the same issue as he had put on Rui’s pink pajamas and pink wig. The shirt seemed not to fit him, as the fabric was stretched around his arms, and he had kept the buttons undone to reveal the shirt underneath with Rui’s face printed on. Jisung must have had the same idea of printing his partner’s face on things, as he held up the banner over his head, which was filled with Hyun’s face.
The thing was, they all had masks and glasses on, which really just made them look like, well, as Bain had said, four muscular, creepy-looking fanboys.
When they lifted their hands and waved at XLOV slowly, Wumuti gulped.
“Oh, god,” Hyun murmured, placing a hand on her chest and clutching at her imaginary pearl necklace there.
“Oh…no,” Rui whispered, pressing her lips together.
Haru placed a hand over her mouth, shaking her head. “Oh, wow, this is…”
“We, uh, sorry, Bain-ah, we know them.” Wumuti turned around and flashed Bain a reassuring smile. “They’re not fanboys.”
“I’m starting to think otherwise,” Hyun muttered.
“We—we have to go. Talk to you later?”
Before Bain could utter an answer, Wumuti had rushed over to the door first, with the other three following her right on her toes. She grabbed Chan by the sleeve of his pajamas and tugged him into the changing room nearby.
As soon as they managed to push all four men into the room, Wumuti shut the door behind him and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
“Before you say anything,” Wumuti said, holding up a hand as Chan pulled his mask down. “May I ask…why?”
“We are in disguise, noona!” Jisung said, shoving his mask into his pocket and shaking the banner excitedly before Hyun. “Hyunnie! You look so good today!”
“And you—” Hyun swallowed, lips pressing into a thin line. “You look…well…”
“Kinda terrifying,” Rui finished Hyun’s sentence, and Hyun nodded. “But hot.” She blinked at Changbin and added, “I’m sexually confused right now, Binnie.”
“What?” Hyun squawked, and Rui shrugged her shoulders, walking over to Changbin with a smile.
She put a hand on Changbin’s arm and hummed, running her hands down his biceps and licking her lower lip. “This is really tight on you, huh, Binnie?”
“So tight, princess!” Changbin whined. “I could hardly lift my arms!”
“And you have my face on your shirt,” Rui pointed out, a smile creeping up to her face as she poked at Changbin’s chest. “Cute.”
“See, Hyun? Rui thinks Changbin hyung is cute!” Jisung said. “You don’t think I’m cute?”
“Well…okay, I’m not the only one who finds this weird, right?” Hyun uttered. “Haru, do you think Innie hyung is cute?”
Haru cocked their head to the side, glancing at the fox tail behind Jeongin’s back. They flushed and answered Hyun with a guilty smile.
“I mean…”
“Haru-ya!”
“But he is cute!”
“My gosh,” Hyun said, shaking his head as Haru hopped to Jeongin’s spot with a bright grin. Jisung shuffled towards Hyun with a pout, clutching the Hyunnie banner to his chest. “Han-ah…”
“I thought you’d like it.”
“You know, when you borrowed the outfit, I wondered what you’d do with it, but this is the last thing I’d ever guess.” Hyun snorted and placed her hands on Jisung’s shoulders. “You made this banner yourself?”
“Yeah! Hyunjinnie helped me. Seungmin was there, too, but he wasn’t much help. He told me you’d be scared by it.”
“And Seungmin hyung is right,” she said, and Jisung’s pout deepened. “But…I guess it is kinda cute how you did this yourself.”
“Because I love you, Hyun-ah.”
Hyun grinned. “I know that,” she said, bursting into a chuckle when Jisung lunged in for a tight hug.
On the other side of the door, Bang Chan stood like a tree, chin ducked low as he looked at Wumuti guiltily. Wumuti frowned, curling her finger and gesturing for Bang Chan to come to her.
He padded towards Wumuti, fidgeting with the bunny bag once he came to a stop. Wumuti hadn’t stopped frowning at him.
“Bang Chan.”
“Jagiya—”
“Don’t jagiya me right now,” Wumuti said, and Chan pouted. “Is this why you wanted to borrow our outfits?”
“Kinda.”
“Was it your idea to dress up as us?”
“Sorta.”
“Was it necessary to put the socks on, too?”
“It’s a disguise, baby!” Chan protested, taking a step closer to Wumuti. “I have to be exactly like you. That’s how it works, Muti-ya. Please don’t be mad at me.”
“I’m not mad, just…weirded out.” She let out a snort and shook her head. Wumuti heaved a sigh. “It’s just…so weird, Channie.”
“Do I look bad in it?”
“No, you actually look surprisingly good in it, but I’ve just never seen you in it before,” Wumuti said, placing a gentle hand on Chan’s chest. “You even put my shirt on.”
“I might have stretched it out a little, sorry.”
She smiled, running her hands down Chan’s fuzzy pajama shirt. “I don’t mind,” Wumuti murmured. “You know, you may even look better than me in this.”
“Not possible,” Chan said, emitting a laugh from Wumuti. He leaned closer, lifting his hands to touch the hem of Wumuti’s cropped sailor top. “Muti, baby…”
“Yeah?”
“Can I…you know,” he mumbled, ghosting his fingers over the pale skin of Wumuti’s tummy.
“Hmm?”
“Muti-ya!” he whined, and Wumuti guffawed, sliding her hands up his neck.
When Wumuti shifted closer, Chan leaned forward, hungry and impatient, and Wumuti leaned back with a snort when Chan let out a whine in protest. She smiled, finally giving in and pressing her lips to Chan’s.
Chan kissed her back in an instant, pulling her lower half closer to him and already licking into Wumuti’s mouth. He slid his hand under Wumuti’s shirt, running up her spine to cup the nape of her neck, and Wumuti moaned into his mouth, gripping Chan’s shirt when he ground his hips against Wumuti’s.
“Would it be too weird if I fuck you in this outfit?” Chan panted against Wumuti’s lips, and Wumuti gulped.
“Maybe,” Wumuti murmured. “But that’s okay.”
Chan’s eyes gleamed at her answer, and before he could kiss Wumuti again, Wumuti put their hand on Chan’s chest and nudged him back.
“Wha—”
“We still have several more people to greet, Channie,” Wumuti said, putting on a sly smile. “So, behave here, and we’ll be back when everything’s done.”
“But I—”
“What? You’re hard already?”
Chan blanched, looking down with guilt flashing across his face. Wumuti giggled, patting his cheek and planting a kiss on his lips.
“I’ll be back soon,” Wumuti said. “Come on, everyone. We have to go out. Hanbin and Hyeongseop are here. We have to go say hi first.”
Reluctantly, Rui, Hyun, and Haru pulled away from their boyfriends with a reassuring smile. Wumuti waved her fingers at Chan, and the four of them left the changing room.
Bang Chan cleared his throat, pulling the bunny in front of his crotch as he glanced over at his members. Jisung tugged his pajama robes closed, cheeks flushed red, while Changbin also put his plush cat bag in front of his crotch, and Jeongin had taken his pink hat off to cover himself as well.
“So…” Chan murmured, looking around the place. “Seems like this will take a while, should we sit down?”
“Sounds good.”
“Yeah, all right.”
“I can sit.”
Chan hummed, taking the seat on the couch, and Jeongin took the armchair. Changbin took the other armchair, and Jisung dragged the chair from the makeup table towards the corner and sat down on it.
They sat in total silence thinking about their grandparents and pets for ten minutes, then did fifty push-ups together before XLOV came back.
*
Chan blinked at the wall, heaving a breath as he recalled the memories. He pulled Wumuti closer, until he could feel Wumuti’s breath against his lips. He tugged the blanket over them both, tangling their feet together as he spoke up.
“It was embarrassing.”
“Right?” Wumuti said.
“Not the outfit, babe! I meant you four leaving us there while we were—” Chan gestured with his hands erratically in the air, and Wumuti snorted, looking over her shoulder. “You know!”
“Okay, is it our fault you four are turned on that quickly and easily?”
“You’re putting the blame on us, baby? Who were the ones that put on those sexy sailor outfits? We’d have to be insane not to react to them!”
“Sexy sailor outfits? They’re just cropped shirts, Channie.”
“Oh, you know what you were doing when you put it on!” he huffed, sliding an arm underneath Wumuti’s head so she could lie on his arm. Wumuti grinned, pursing her lips. “Come on, Muti-ya! You know the effect you have on me.”
“And that is?”
“You want me to spell it out?”
“That’d be nice, yeah.”
“Well,” Chan murmured, brushing a stray lock of hair behind Wumuti’s ear and ghosting his fingertip over her earlobe. A smile found its way to his lips as he stared at Wumuti’s face. “Considering that we haven’t left the bed since last night, I think you are plenty aware of how much I want to stay with you right here.”
He slid his hand down Wumuti’s neck to her bare shoulder, and he licked his lower lip. “I want to kiss you again.” He traced his fingers down Wumuti’s arm. “I want to touch you again everywhere.” Chan gulped and pushed the blanket that was covering half her lower body away, grabbing her by the hips and pulling her flushed against him. “I want to fuck you again.”
With an exasperated groan, Chan buried his face in Wumuti’s sternum, and she laughed, draping her arm over his back.
“This is so bad,” he murmured into Wumuti’s skin. “I love you so much.”
Wumuti hummed, grazing their nails over Chan’s spine and shivering gently when Chan pressed a kiss to their chest.
“I love you, too. Even if that disguise was the worst disguise I have ever seen.”
“Muti-ya!” he whined, lifting his head to meet her eyes. “It’s called hiding in plain sight, babe!”
“It’s horribly hiding in plain sight.”
“Well!” he uttered. “No one noticed us, did they?”
“You’re lucky they didn’t.” Wumuti smiled, eyebrows pinching together. “I just don’t understand why you couldn’t have just disguised yourselves like the other four of you.”
“What other four?”
“Your other four members?” Wumuti blinked confusedly at his boyfriend. “Seungmin, Felix, Hyunjin, and Lino hyung were there, too.”
“What?” Chan squawked, propping himself up on the bed with one arm as his mouth went lax. “They were?”
“How did you not know that? You guys didn’t bump into each other?”
“No, we didn’t! We didn’t see anybody—” he stammered, blinking wildly at Wumuti. “They were already there when we came home! Minnie was even asleep! How did—when did they? What?”
“Well, see?” Wumuti said. “They came to see us before you four did, so I just assumed you guys wanted to split up to make it less suspicious.”
“I didn’t even know they were there! What did they dress up as?”
“Nothing!” Wumuti shrugged, chuckling at Chan’s flabbergasted expression. “They just had caps and masks on.”
“What? That’s it?”
“Well, I think Felix borrowed Rui’s black wig to blend in a little, but that’s pretty much it. And they got seats in the back.”
“But we also—how did they—I didn’t even know they got their own tickets!” he gasped. “Did they buy them?”
“No,” Wumuti hummed. “Seungminnie just asked me for them.”
“He asked you?”
“Yeah! He asked for eight tickets, so I just assumed he gave four to you guys. How did you get yours?”
Chan frowned, muttering under his breath, “Seungmin said he managed to buy the tickets, but they’re at a really high price, so we’d have to split the cost.”
Wumuti pressed her lips together, holding back a laugh. “So…you were tricked by your own member?”
“But I—” Chan sighed, flopping back down onto the bed. “Eh, I’ll take the money back later.”
“You were really scammed by Seungminnie?” Wumuti laughed. “Channie…”
“I didn’t know! Seungmin said he used his own money to pay for the tickets, so I thought—and Felix was there, and he even backed Seungmin up by saying he lent him money!” He frowned and scratched his head. “Christ, this is unbelievable.”
“How much did you even spend on the tickets?”
Chan gulped. “I don’t wanna say.”
“Channie.”
“It’s a lot.”
“Bang Chan.”
“A million won.”
“Bang Chan!” Wumuti gasped, eyes widening as Chan looked away. “You spent one million won for four tickets?”
“For one.”
“Christopher Chahn Bahng!”
“I know! I know! Please don’t full-name me, Muti-ya!” Chan whined. “I’m sorry! I just—I wanted to see you.”
“So you spent one million won to buy tickets instead of asking me for them directly?”
Chan nodded gently and pouted. “Don’t be mad, Muti. I really wanted to see you and surprise you, so…I thought it was a good idea,” he said. “Besides, I’m the one who got scammed by Seungmin here, you should comfort me instead of scolding me, you know.”
Wumuti sighed, biting back a smile. He did make a good point, although Wumuti would make sure to ask Seungmin about it later. She was sure he had some reasons as to why he and Felix teamed up to do it.
“I’ll talk to Seungmin for you,” Wumuti said, smiling as she caressed Chan’s cheek. “Poor Channie, you really went that far just to see me, huh?”
“Of course,” Chan said confidently, nuzzling into Wumuti’s hand. “It was the first time I’ve ever seen you on stage! I was in the wings, and I’ve seen you on TV, but I’ve never actually seen you like that before, like, in the audience with everyone else, and it was worth every penny.”
“It was a million won, Channie.”
“I have a lot more, it’s fine,” he said, dragging out a soft laugh from Wumuti. “I don’t mind spending one million won or even more if it means I get to see you on stage.”
“You don’t have to spend anything if you’d just asked me for free tickets.”
“I know.”
“And you don’t have to go that far to disguise yourselves either, Channie.”
“I know, but still…it worked.”
Wumuti guffawed, nodding along. “Surprisingly, it did.”
“I just wished I wouldn’t have to disguise myself at a concert just to see my partner,” he said softly, taking Wumuti’s hand in his hand, planting a kiss on her palm. “I wish I could come as myself to see you.”
Something tugged in Wumuti’s chest and stung her eyes, and she smiled softly.
“Me too,” Wumuti said. “Maybe someday?”
“Someday,” he mumbled, squeezing Wumuti’s hand with a reassuring smile. “Someday we’ll get to do that.”
The End
