Exhausted, Jimin and Yoongi slipped quietly through the front door, having just managed to break away from a party their friends were desperate to keep them at. Luckily, they had managed to be slick enough to slip out entirely unnoticed.
“Fuck!” Yoongi hissed under his breath, wincing as his toe collided brutally with the living room sofa in the dark.
Honestly, in a pitch-black room, it could have happened to anyone.
“Shh!” Jimin hushed him, keeping his voice to a whisper. “My mom’s asleep.”
They tiptoed up the stairs, taking extra care with every single step. Reaching the safety of Jimin’s bedroom, they ducked inside and immediately locked the door behind them. The second Jimin caught sight of his bed, he collapsed face-first onto the mattress.
“Di u brin ur pjamas?” he mumbled, his voice completely muffled by the pillows.
“Didn’t catch a single word of that.”
Jimin propped himself up on his forearms, giving him a quick look before burying his face right back into the bedding. “I said, if you brought your pajamas, put them on now. Take advantage of the fact that I’m not looking.”
“What, you don’t want to see me naked?” Yoongi teased dryly, pulling a crumpled pair of clothes out of his backpack.
“No thanks, you’re way too pale.” Jimin shot back, playing right along.
“Rude. You wish” Yoongi muttered, nudging Jimin’s legs out of the way to claim a spot on the bed. “All set. Aren’t you going to change?”
Jimin rolled over to face him, a lazy smile tugging at his lips. “Too tired,” he murmured, his eyes already heavy. “I’m out.”
Yoongi reached over to the nightstand and clicked off the small lamp, plunging the room into darkness. Soon, the only sound left was the quiet, steady rhythm of their breathing.
“Let’s play a game.” Yoongi proposed softly into the quiet.
“I’m exhausted, hyung.” Jimin mumbled, letting his eyes flutter shut—only to wince as a light tap landed on his forehead. He opened one eye. “What?”
“First one to fall asleep has to do a dare.”
“But I’m actually sleepy…” Jimin grumbled playfully, pouting.
“Each of us gets one attempt to make the other fall asleep.” Yoongi said, ignoring the complaint as he lightly squished Jimin’s pouting lips between his fingers. “You start.”
“Fine” Jimin sighed, resigning himself. “What should I even do?”
An idea struck him. Clearing his throat quietly, he let out a soft breath and began to sing.
I want you to be your light, baby
You should be your light...
His sweet voice drifted through the dark—effortless, soft, and serene, sounding almost like a lullaby. The melody, a track Jimin had written a couple of years back, carried a deep sense of warmth and sincerity. As the quiet song faded, Jimin smiled triumphantly, convinced Yoongi was already out cold.
“Still awake. Yoongi’s low voice cut through the quiet.
“It didn’t work?” Jimin asked, sounding genuinely disappointed.
“Fall asleep and miss hearing you sing? Never.” Yoongi whispered, gently pinching the younger’s cheek. “My turn.”
Yoongi’s fingers brushed lightly against Jimin’s cheek, slowly tracing the soft contours of his face—from his plump lips up to the small bridge of his nose. With agonizing gentleness, his hand slid beneath the hem of Jimin’s shirt, resting lightly against his waist to trail slow, soothing circles against his skin.
“And what do you think you’re doing?” Jimin murmured, a quiet smile in his voice.
“Hypnotizing you with my charm.”
“I’d say it’s the other way around,” Jimin giggled softly.
“Maybe... Is it working, though?” Yoongi smiled in the dark.
“...I think so.”
Heavy eyelids finally gave in. Yoongi’s soft touches had always been his ultimate weakness.
“Jiminie?” Yoongi called softly after a moment. No answer came—just the deep, steady breathing indicating he had already drifted off into sleep.
“I win.” Yoongi whispered. He pressed a lingering, tender kiss to Jimin’s forehead, pulled him close, and let himself drift off right alongside him.

Morning sunlight streamed through the window, warm and uninvited against Yoongi’s face. Wincing slightly at the brightness, he blinked his eyes open, greeted immediately by the prettiest sight — Jimin, still fast asleep beside him.
Quietly slipping out of bed, Yoongi headed to the bathroom to wash up and take a shower. He moved through the house with natural ease; after all, the Parks were practically his second family, and this place felt like a second home. When he returned to the bedroom, the younger boy was still tangled in the blankets, fast asleep.
“Jiminie, wake up.” Yoongi murmured, gently shaking his shoulder and pulling him out of whatever strange dream he was in. “We need to go talk to your mom.”
“Huh? My mom?” Jimin rasped out, eyes half-lidded, his voice thick with sleep.
“Yeah. We have to convince her.”
“Convince her?”
“Mhmm”
“Five more minutes, please.” Jimin mumbled, his eyelids fluttering shut as he immediately started drifting back to sleep.
“No way. We need to convince her to let you have a boyfriend.”
Hearing that, Jimin tried to bolt upright and leap out of bed, but his half-asleep legs instantly gave out. He wobbled violently before tumbling straight onto the floor. Yoongi couldn't help but chuckle at the sheer drama of it, stepping over to haul him back to his feet. Holding him steady by the shoulders, Yoongi looked him dead in the eye.
“I dare you to be my boyfriend.” Yoongi blurted out, completely unabashed. “That’s my reward for winning the game.”
Jimin blinked at him, his tired brain trying and failing to decode the words. “...What?”
“You heard me.” Yoongi smirked.
“Aish, Yoongi-hyung, come on. We’ve talked about this.” Jimin sighed, finally processing what was said as he rested his hands on Yoongi’s shoulders and looked at him earnestly. “Mom won’t let me date anyone until I’m eighteen. There’s literally just one year left... can't you just wait one more year?”
“I really can’t.” Yoongi answered without missing a beat. He pouted, putting on a playfully heartbroken expression. “What, do you not like me?”
“You’ve asked me that a hundred times, and a hundred times I’ve told you. Yes, I like you.” Jimin exasperatedly cupped Yoongi’s pale cheeks, squishing them together playfully. “But we can’t. Nothing is going to convince her.”
“Are you sure? We’ll see about that.” Yoongi smirked. He caught Jimin’s hand and tugged him out of the room before he could protest further.
Down in the kitchen, Yoongi immediately set to work making breakfast without giving much of an explanation. He called out quick directions to Jimin, who hovered around in a sleepy haze trying to help—turns out, making waffles was significantly harder than he had anticipated.
They were just setting the table when Mrs. Park walked down the stairs.
“Good morning, boys!” she greeted warmly, taking in the scene. “To what do I owe this special treatment?” She sat down and picked up her fork, digging in right away.
“Not going to lie to you, Mrs. Park, I actually want to ask you for something,” Yoongi said smoothly.
“Ah, so it’s bribery.” She narrowed her eyes playfully. “Out with it, then.”
“Would you let me be your son’s boyfriend?”
Jimin, who hadn't expected Yoongi to be that direct, instantly choked on the strawberry he was chewing. A deep flush spread across his cheeks and all the way to the tips of his ears, though neither of the other two seemed to notice his existential crisis.
“I’m sorry, Yoongi, but no.” Mrs. Park replied. “I know my son. If you two start dating, his grades are going to slide right down the drain.”
“I promise you, Mrs. Park, the second he gets distracted, I’ll be the first one to snap him back in line” Yoongi promised earnestly, earning a sharp elbow to the ribs from a indignant Jimin. “I’ll help him study. If he ever falls behind in a class, he can use all my notes.”
“And how do I know you’ll stick to that?” she questioned, raising an eyebrow.
“You have my absolute word.”
Mrs. Park paused, looking at him thoughtfully. “Have you told your mother about this yet?”
“Yes, don’t worry, she already knows.” Yoongi reassured her. “So… do I have your permission?”
“If either of you brings home a bad grade, I will personally pull you both by the ears. Got it?” She nodded, satisfied when they both bobbed their heads in quick understanding. “Alright, fine. You have my permission. I’ll call Mrs. Min later.”
Yoongi stood up from the table, bowing repeatedly in gratitude. Meanwhile, Jimin—who was still trying to process the fact that this had actually just happened—sat frozen in his chair with a piece of waffle hanging out of his open mouth.
They finished the rest of their breakfast in near silence. For Mrs. Park, there was nothing left to debate. She had known for a long time that there was more than just friendship between them; in fact, she had been waiting ages for one of them to finally build up the courage to say something. It was about time. (Though she was definitely going to have to pay her husband the fifty dollars she lost on their bet over who would confess first. She really hadn't expected her son to be so slow on the draw.)
“If you’ll excuse us, we have something to take care of.” Yoongi said, pushing back his chair. “Leave the dishes, Mrs. Park, we’ll wash them later!”
“Wait, I haven't finished my waf—” Jimin protested, but he was cut off as Yoongi dragged him by the arm back toward the stairs.
Mrs. Park just let out a soft laugh, shaking her head affectionately as she watched the two of them hurry off. “Ah, youth…” she chuckled to herself, taking another calm bite of her breakfast.
The moment the bedroom door clicked shut behind them, Yoongi wrapped his arms around Jimin and hoisted him up, spinning him around in pure euphoria. The room filled with their shared, breathless laughter.
“Finally,” Yoongi whispered when he finally set him down, their faces inches apart.
Yoongi leaned in, closing his eyes in anticipation of what he had been waiting years for. Ever since he realized three years ago that he was falling for Jimin, and that Jimin felt the exact same way.
Before he could lean in, a palm slapped flat over his mouth, thoroughly crushing his hopes. “Hold on a second." Jimin said, his eyes glinting with mischief. "You haven't officially asked me to be your boyfriend yet. How do you expect a kiss like that, huh?”
“I dare you to be my boyfriend, Park Jimin,” Yoongi played along, a fond smile breaking out.
“Hey! Ask me properly or you get nothing.”
Yoongi chuckled softly. He took Jimin’s hands in his, intertwining their fingers and gently brushing his thumbs over the back of Jimin’s hands. Looking into his eyes, he asked the question he had carried in his heart for so long.
“Jiminie, my very stubborn, very cute Jiminie… will you do me the honor of being my boyfriend?
Jimin gasped playfully, fighting back a laugh. “Hmm, let me think about it… Okay, yes. Of course I will.” Untangling his hands, he gently cup Yoongi’s face. “I like you so, so much.”
“I like you way more.” Yoongi murmured, leaning forward to gently nuzzle their noses together.
Finally, they leaned in together, pressing their lips together in a soft, quiet kiss—the very first for both of them. At first, their movements were tentative and shy, both entirely new to the sensation. But slowly, they melted into the feeling, exploring the sweet, hesitant warmth of a kiss they had both wanted for so long. It tasted like pure honey. Their hearts beat wildly against their chests, perfectly in sync, thrumming with the excitement of embarking on a brand-new world together.
The kiss was endearing, sweet, and a little clumsy—so clumsy, in fact, that a sudden slip caused their teeth to bump together with a soft clatter.
“Ouch!” Jimin burst out laughing at their utter lack of coordination, keeping his forehead pressed against Yoongi’s. “We’re terrible at this.”
“We’ll have plenty of time to practice later.” Yoongi smiled, pressing soft, lingering kisses onto his new boyfriend’s cheeks.
“Let’s watch a movie.” Jimin suggested, pulling away slightly before collapsing onto the bed and pulling Yoongi down with him.
“Nope. We have dishes to wash and homework to do. I promised your mom I’d keep you on the straight and narrow.”
“You’re so annoying.” Jimin grumbled with a pout. “Fine, but give me another kiss first.” He stuck his lips out, rewarded instantly with a sweet, lingering peck.
“I’ll give you a lot more once we finish.” Yoongi promised.
“Promise?” Jimin asked, sitting up.
“Promise.”
Before opening their textbooks, they headed back down to the kitchen to keep their word. Standing side-by-side at the sink, they made quick work of the breakfast dishes; Yoongi washing while Jimin dried, occasionally splashing a bit of water at each other just to steal a few extra laughs. Once everything was clean, they finally retreated to the bedroom to get to work. They spent the rest of the afternoon working through schoolwork, surrounded by easy laughter and a few stolen kisses from Jimin.
They certainly had a bright future ahead of them, and a whole lot of love left to give.
