Her show would have to wait. The department was bustling; heavy and hot with panicked staff; clothing rails swooshing along the linoleum with their castors, all chalky squeaks from dodging obstacles.
Velvette was in her own more peaceful conjuring room in her segment of the tower; smooth black silken robes adorning her petite frame; cornrows neatly tucked underneath her pointed witching hat; wooden staff in hand, she stirred her cauldron firmly and tentatively as she peered down into the blackened iron.
Turquoise, white and neon aquamarine swirled and glowed within the cauldron. Like colors within a glacier; the luminosity kissed her face, neck, shoulders and collarbone as she stirred, turning her smooth skin a mystical color; like an ocean reflecting off of hazelnut créme fondant.
Within a small violet light hovering just above her staff as she mixed was a levitating golden vial. With a gentle beckon the vial slowly tipped iridescent gold into the concoction below. The liquid glittered and swirled delicately into the miniature lagoon of the bowl.
"Wonder what I'll call it," she mused to herself.
After all, it was the most potent and powerful truth serum in the history of the world, she was convinced. She had been meticulously crafting the magical formula for weeks; all of her hard graft so that she could finally begin to help solve one of the most important issues in her world at present. The boys.
Carefully, she ladled the potion into a canister before clamping the container shut, hearing the pressure and gasses rise and hiss inside effectively turning the potion into an aerosol spray.

The meeting room felt stuffy. Stuffed to the brim with an unpleasant, awkward air. Vox had kept his water glass comically and unnecessarily close to his face during the entire first half of the session.
Val had his head lowered; the wide brim of his hat hiding a strongly furrowed brow; his mouth curved downwards. Annoyance with a hint of sorrow was dimpling and worrying his chin. His fingers constantly fiddled and picked at the cuffs of his coat.
Vox had reviewed the statistics, numbers and graphs incredibly slowly today. Slower than was the norm. Not on purpose, though. He was desperately trying not to keep on noisily clearing his throat that was filled with an outrageous amount of awkward, nervous phlegm.
To their relief, the tension shifted when Velvette walked into the room. A small sigh left both of their lips as she calmly sauntered to the centre of the room with a cool, neutral expression on her face. With a big, bright voice she simply said,
"Oight, boys. Come in close. I've got somethin' new, innovative and fairly impressive to show yas."
Vox's brow was now furrowed and Val's head cocked to the side quizzically as they came in close to see what Velvette had just pulled out of her pocket. They paused for a moment. Within the doll's beautiful hand was a small, fuschia... blob. Smooth and round, like a sea-glass pebble, only larger and... glossier. And that smell. That smell that radiated off of it... artificial and sugary, like nostalgic candy.
"Is that... like, bubblegum?" Val asked, thoroughly perplexed.
"Hmm... close, I guess. Kinda. Now look, watch."
With her free hand she held it above the blob and pushed the airspace down onto it, like an invisible force. Despite not actually touching the blob with her hand above it had begun to meld and move. It looked rather pillowy at first. And then more gummy. It stretched and oozed and flowed from her palm onto the floor. The boys were so puzzled and confused by what was actually happening that they had forgotten that perhaps it might be a good idea to shout and protest at the oddity that had now completely engulfed them up to their chins; sticky, blobby splotches creeping up their jawlines.
"What the fuck is this, Velvette!?" The boys screeched in unison.
Keeping the neutral expression on her face, Velvette reached into the other side of her robes and pulled out the canister.
"And just what the fuck is THAT now!?" Vox hollered.
Velvette steadied the canister in the gummy puddle surrounding Vox and Val right infront of them making sure that the nozzle was facing the right way and the release button was poised and ready.
"THAT just so 'appens to be my latest and greatest potion to date. It is the most powerful truth serum you will ever find in any realm, guaranteed!" She boasted proudly.
As the realization dawned, the room filled with yells and squeally protests.
"Enough! I am so fucking sick to the back teeth with both of yas! Yous are both grown fucking men! No, I don't care! I don't care! You two are going to grow the fuck up and talk this shit out like adults!" She scolded before lowering her tone.
"Now, I've got a show to organize and you both better have yourselves back in order when I get back."
And with that, she spun on her heels and walked towards the door. Before exiting, she turned back and pointed towards the button atop the canister. With the daintiest of motions she slowly pressed down the air and closed the door.
Vox and Val watched in horror as the button set down into the container with a soft click. From the nozzle, a dazzling array of oceanic colors hurtled out and deftly consumed the room. Luminous, ghostly aqua spirals flowed almost like a fluid around them. Their eyes widened as the sparkles of gold pirouetted and burst like starlight through all of the other colors. Such a spectacle, a truly stunning display of pure magic they both thought to themselves.
Vox piped up, "Wow, that is actually incredibly beautiful. I really should tell Velvette that her and her magic are extraordinary more often than I do so that she feels more valued, but I won't because I am a deeply insecure man."
With their eyes now as wide as dinner plates, the two demons slowly looked towards each other and spoke in unison once again.
"Oh no."
