It’s fine

Summary:

Wemmbu has noticed a thing about Flame. While the demon has fire powers, he never used it unless to light his sword ablaze.
With Flame’s recent defeat to him, Wemmbu faces his wrath.

Notes:

I was watching Evil dead burn, and I got this idea. Moreso practice writing fighting + burns and uhh pain.

Chapter 1: A spat

Chapter Text

Wemmbu sighed, boredom encasing his mind. Despite that, he cleaned his mace with a cloth till his own reflection shined back. The metal gleamed back purple, his dark eyes blinked slowly at him.

His hands curl around the handle absentmindedly, feeling the indents he carved into Gambit. His fingers trailed down till it met the butt end.

He’s cleaned it well, pretty good actually.

Wemmbu stared at his reflection again.

He's bored, severely so that he’s finding polishing his mace joyful. Ever since he beat Flamefrags, he felt like the top of the world. But soon that feeling wore off into something duller.

Painstaking, mundane, exasperating, boredom.

He could visit Eggchan, as it’s what he always does, but he’s also feeling lazy currently. And traveling to The End is quite the journey for a lazy man like him right now.

The dragonic titled his chin to look out to the lake. It shimmered sunset, the water catching sprinkles of light as Wemmbu squinted against the harsh sun. The cliff he’s inhibiting was high, and wind breezed through his hair. A faint smell of fish caught his nose.

He could already hear what Egg would say “Dude, how can you be bored with a view like this?”

He wishes Egg was here.

Rustling behind him made Wemmbu freeze just to immediately hop to his feet. Sword ready and stance wide as a familiar figure burst through the trees, startling the dragonic slightly.

Flame heaved, blindfold askew and mouth set into a frown. His sword and shield were already up, and he clearly wasn’t here to play tea party with him.

Wemmbu grinned and he mockingly tilted his head cutely “Flame! Still upset about the loss? Can’t admit I’m the strongest huh-”

Flame immediately jumped forward, sword hurtling at his neck. Wemmbu blinked and parried it as he flew up to avoid any other attacks, his wings sprouting out as he laughed.

Flame hissed “bro it wasn’t even fair! I didn’t have my full kit, I was drained!” the demon complained.

Wemmbu scoffed “excuses” and wound up with Gambit as he dive bombed. Wind whipped at his ears

Flame read this easily as he placed cobwebs. Barking a laugh as Wemmbu cursed as his leathery wings stuck together with webs.

The demon immediately kicked Wemmbu in the side, sending the dragonic rolling.

“Ok so that was-“

Flame’s sword nearly punctured his vocal cords as Wemmbu scrambled away, his feet finding purchase against the soft forest floor. His wings still struggling against the webs, but it’s alright. His melee isn’t that bad.

Flame was a few feet away and they seemed to have a standoff as the demon twirled his sword fancily around his wrist. Wemmbu scoffed, not impressed at all- infact he’s going to say that it’s stupid and won’t impress any-

The blade lit ablaze in violent scarlet. The edges sparking and flame roaring as it glittered. Wemmbu forgot he does that before setting his own sword on fire.

Infact, he forgets that Flame is a flame demon. Truly stupid of him to forget as Flame is literally his name. Demons like him are known to be destructive and dangerous with the powers they contain.

That’s why it’s so common for them to die from their own mistakes. Fall on their own sword.

He snorted “y’know, I forgot to ask you, but why don’t you use your fire powers more often?”

His hands found windcharges (fuck melee)  as he jumped up. Gambit sliding across his arm as Flame held up his shield- he immediately stun slammed. Axe cutting through the first layer of Flame’s shield so he could cleanly smash Flame’s armor.

The demon cursed and pearled away as he chugged gapples “because then my opponents would die instantly, and I fight with honor. With no cheap tricks or weapons” he sent a pointed glare to Gambit.

Wemmbu landed down into the floor again. Tail swishing as he smiled innocently “like this?” He sing songed as he fished out a orbital.

Flame’s eyes widened, or so assuming as the chunk he was standing in became no more. He was sent sky high as Wemmbu watched the demon be sent up fifty feet in the air, chucking to himself.

Well, he should be down in a minute or two.

The dragonic leaned on the handle of Gambit, smugly grinning as he wiped off the webs from his wings.

Eventually, Flame descended. Clutching last second as water saved him from fall damage. The demon immediately glared, and Wemmbu laughed.

“Cmon bro, you should’ve anticipated that! It’s like my signature-” A whirlwind of fire shot right beside his cheek. It kissed it hotly as the skin bloomed with pain.

Wemmbu yelped as he stumbled away from the sizzling air, eyes blown wide as he clutched his cheek. The skin there was warm, but thankfully no torn or charred skin.

His heart beat in his chest loudly. He snapped his gaze to the immortal demon.

There he stood with his right hand outstretched, said arm was literally on fire. He could see his bones through the fire if Wemmbu squinted enough. That disturbed him, deeply so as Flame’s arm cackled with heat that Wemmbu could feel from here.

“What- you, I thought your powers were a cheap trick yo??” Wemmbu hissed, his hackles rising.

Flame didn’t respond, only advancing as his sword danced with crimson.

Aura farmer much?

Wemmbu shook his head, tugging out an orbital as he snapped the fishing rod to where Flame stood. The demon pearled, dodging it as he appeared closer via pearl.

Wemmbu’s wings shot out to elytra mace, and to gain space. Unluckily, a fireball of heat and despair appeared above him within seconds of his plan. Panic struck him as his wings dropped to stop his motion upwards. It’s fine, he’s close to the ground- he’s sure he can spam orbitals.

“Bro-” Something hot and sizzling grabbed his heel. He could feel the material soften from the heat. Then the burning of his ankle turned into something more intense.

His world titled as Flame, the ‘something’, tugged roughly on his heel onto the ground. His back hit the grass first and then his head as a foot dug into the center of his chest. His ankle pulsed with pain, and Wemmbu knows that blisters began to bloom. He could feel it.

His wings batted against the ground, more instinctively as if they could save him.

Panic filled him as his hands searched for his sword, orbitals, anything as Flame dug his foot into his chest.

Wemmbu anxiously grinned, allowing fake confidence to cover his feared core “Thought your powers were cheap tricks?”

Flame snorted, not replying as Fragger’s edge loomed close to his throat. The flames that danced across the blade cackled, hot against his sweaty skin. Painfully so as Wemmbu leaned against the ground in hopes of escaping the fire.

“I have other reasons as well” Flame muttered. For some reason, Flame hasn’t killed him yet. The reason? Wemmbu has no idea.

He truly spoke too soon.

Flamefrags, unforgiving, demonic, evil Flamefrags raised Fragger from his throat to pierce it through his leathery wings. He could feel the membrane tear. The blood vessels erupting. Wemmbu shrieked, and he squirmed under Flamefrag’s boot. Yet to no avail- the sensitive skin of his wings ripped and scorched into a pitiful resemblance of a wing.

It didn’t help that he thrashed in his place. His mind didn’t think as he scrambled for a weapon, anything really.

His hands found an orbital. The immortal demon saw this immediately as he placed a knee into his chest to snag his wrist. Truly a bad idea on Wemmbu’s part, as he forgot that the entirety of Flame’s right arm is literally on fire and is radiating heat that makes him skittish.

The moment Flame’s hand touched his exposed skin, His skin sizzled and burned, excruciating pain erupted through his bones, muscle, skin as Wemmbu screamed. The sound ringing around the forest’s cliff edge.

His feet dug into the floor, even as his ankle protested. He tried to squirm away, tug his arm away- get rid of the burning hell that his skin was facing.

It burned, his veins hot-

“Fuck! Fucking- let go!” Wemmbu yelled, eyes wide.

Flame didn’t move, didn’t say anything, he looked dazed as the Dragonic’s wrist burned through skin and muscle. So so easily as Wemmbu withered. Even as he thrashed, cursing and struggled against the larger demon.

Then like a snap of a finger, Flame gasped and his right arm released his iron hold on Wemmbu’s scalded and charred arm. Even Fragger was removed quickly from his winged limb.

The dragonic curled around his arm. Body offering protection around his burned limb. Tears pricked the corner of his eyes. Pain vibrating around every part of his body, everything felt hot and burnt.

His eyes squeezed shut. His arm shaked- (there’s no skin- no muscle, he's scared to look. What if he looks and it’s just a black charred mess?)

The thought made his breath quicken. It made him spiral infact. What if he can’t mace anymore? What if he isn’t the strongest? What if he isn’t the most powerful anymore? Would anyone even look his way anymore?

The air was stingy and burnt, like his fleshy arm that he doesn’t want to look at. Or his beyond ripped up wing.

So he didn’t, Wemmbu stayed curled like that. Body shaking and the air reeking of fire and flesh.

His mind encased in the pain. Nothing else.

It hurt. A lot.

When Wemmbu next realized that he was a living breathing creature, and not a vessel of pain, he began to slowly get up. His free arm hauling him up to a half sit, his eyes traveled to the lake. It was night, the moon sat in the sky beautifully. The waters dark and clear.

Flame hadn’t killed him.

Flame made him feel unmeasurable pain.

Flame spared him.

Flame should’ve killed him.

Wemmbu’s burnt arm pulsed with slow, sharp bursts of pain. He still doesn’t know what it looks like, and he will continue that way.

His hands searched his inventory, all while wincing and feeling tears drift down his cheeks every few seconds. Was he crying? Fuck, stupid fucking-

His teeth dug into a gapple. He didn’t have any health pots. The apple tasted dull, not like the sweet and savoury he grown use to.

The effects were immediate. Relief of pain and calmness of the mind were quick to settle in. Such as Gapples are.

Although, the effects will only last so long.

His arm hurt to move. Yet he needs to go.

His wing hurt to move. He has to leave.

Flame should’ve killed him. Death sounds more appealing than this.

His gaze traveled to his feet. His right one, which sustained the burns, was clearly fucked up. His heel was damaged- the material flaking off and the edges blackened. His foot was-

He looked away. It shouldn’t matter. He has to go.

His feet moved to get him up. His ankle, the blistered and burnt one, protested with pain every time he tried to put weight on it.

Wemmbu groaned, cursing the world, Flame, maybe even himself. He downed another grapple, he downed five more after. They churned in his gut uneasily.

He hates Flame. Title obsessed weirdo.

Wemmbu sucked a deep breath in and stood up. Trying his best to ignore the pain that exploded immediately once he was one his two feet.

Failure, he whimpered as his balance struggled. His body wanted nothing to do but lay down. Not move and let his wounds fester.

“It’s fine.. no it’s fine” He muttered. Testing his weight on his ankle again.

He winced, wanting to cry.

His feet moved forward once, then again. He continued this until his ankle numbed. Well, the most it can. All while he stifled his cries. Limping through a forest.

The End portal is far. The walk is far. It’s fine.

He’s Wemmbu. Unstable’s strongest player, he has two maces, orbitals! He can handle anything, which includes being burnt and nearly set on fire by your enemy.

It’s fine.
