Chapter Text
tee woke up because he was thirsty.
the room was dark except for the faint orange glow of the streetlights slipping through the curtains.
he blinked at the clock on the bedside table.
2:14 a.m.
por was still awake.
he was lying on his side with his back against the headboard, the brightness of his phone turned almost all the way down.
tee smiled to himself.
“can’t sleep?”
por looked over immediately, startled.
“…did i wake you?”
“a little..”
“sorry..”
tee reached over and lazily intertwined their fingers beneath the blanket.
“what’re you doing?”
“nothing.”
por smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“just replying to someone.”
tee hummed.
he wasn’t curious.
por had never given him a reason to be.
he trusted him completely.
tee closed his eyes again, listening to the quiet tapping of por’s thumbs against the screen.
the room was peaceful.
safe.
comfortable.
…
a soft vibration echoed through the mattress.
por’s phone lit up again.
tee wasn’t trying to read it.
he really wasn’t.
his eyes simply opened at the wrong moment.
the notification appeared for less than a second before por instinctively swiped it away.
but it was enough.
auau
you deserve someone better
tee’s breathing stalled.
por quickly locked his phone.
“…i’m gonna get some water.”
his voice was quiet.
almost guilty.
tee nodded before he could think.
“okay.”
por slipped out of bed.
the bedroom door clicked shut.
silence settled over the room.
tee stared at the ceiling.
you deserve someone better.
four words.
that was all.
his chest tightened.
auau.
why was auau saying that?
better than who?
better than…
him?
tee squeezed his eyes shut.
don’t be stupid.
he trusted por.
he trusted auau.
there had to be another explanation.
there was another explanation.
…
right?
