mubs(monster under the bed) are also manifestations of fear. they are not the protective fear. they are paranoia, phobias, fear for fear's sake.
and a boogieman's job is to kill mubs.

Chapter Text

skizz woke up. "mom?" he stepped out of his bed. "who's there?" skizz quivered. "be brave skizz, be brave." skizz felt something grip his foot from under his bed.

he looked down to see a withered hand with exposed bone wrapped around his ankle. "MOM-" the thing with a dozen arms dragged him under his bed. its mouth slabbered with saliva that burnt skizz's skin to the touch. the monster grabbed skizz's arm and started gnawing on it. "HELP! MOM! DAD! ANY-" the monster fell to the floor dead with gnarled horns poking through it. a boy around his age took his viscera covered head out from the monster's guts.

"you ok?" skizz looked at the boy. he had gnarled horns and fangs that jutted out of his mouth. "go back to bed-" skizz smiled at him. "you saved me. thanks." the boy stepped back. "uh- i yo- thanks. no one's ever thanked me before." the boy noticed skizz's arm and panicked. "your arm!" skizz's arm- well what was left of skizz's arm was covered in pussy boils and half melted off. skizz somehow hadn't felt any pain. "damnit. it must have damaged your nerves. look, take this." the boy wrapped skizz's arm in bandages. "that should staunch the bleeding. now get out and go tell your parents you- i don't know, got attacked by some kind of wild animal. you need to go to the hospital."

skizz lay down in his hospital bed. the doctors had said his arm was already dead, and if he hadn't gotten here, he would be too. skizz looked at his new prosthetic arm. it was...honestly kinda cool. skizz looked up and noticed the boy who saved his life sitting at the foot of his bed. "gah! oh. hey. nice to see you again. i'm skizz. what's your name?"

the boy blinked. "impulse. no one's ever asked me before...thanks." skizz smiled. "you saved my life impulse. thanks buddy." impulse stared at him. "...buddy? like. friends?" skizz beamed. "yeah!" impulse smiled. "i've never had one of those." skizz hugged him. "YOU DO NOW!" impulse laughed which sounded like a horrible gurgling noise. "oh. sorry." sizz pulled impulse onto the bed and turned on the tv. "you ever watched cartoons?" impulse shook his head. skizz beamed. "let's start on that!"
