I feel like I need to add this for a bit of context:
The first time Mari lands on Earth, it's in a small village whose inhabitants are aware of and accustomed to supernatural oddities and happenings so the people welcome him every time he's there (it's also where he stays when he's on Earth)
I use the word 'being' to describe him as even though he is biologically human, he's also kinda not, in the perspective of the ✨Earthlings.✨
In the simplest way to explain, take an apple and a pear for example. Imagine all apples live in an orchard and have called themselves fruits for millennia (which they are) and suddenly a pear comes to the orchard. The apples would not consider the pear a fruit because despite having a lot in common biologically(in terms of development and all that), pears are not apples.
The same for all pears in their orchard who have also called themselves fruits (which again they are) for a very very very long time, if an apple shows up, they won't consider the apple a fruit because the apple is not a pear.
Despite them both being fruits in the grand scheme of things, with just unique differences that make each of them what they are.
