   Summary

   During a routine trip to an Academy Sponsored seminar the unthinkable happens. Kirk is left to deal with the fallout as he loses the man who's become closer than any family ever could. In the process, a secret is uncovered that reveals a Federation very different than anyone ever suspected and Kirk must do everything within his power to keep the ones he loves safe.
