Chapter Text
There were only two things Parrot loved enough to reread dozens of times
Medicine books
And The Three Crowns of the World novels
It was a fantasy novel about three children born from three forgotten realms
The End
The Nether
And the Void
Each of them carried the burden of an entire civilization, each destined to become a king
Parrot adored the story
He cried during emotional scenes, laughed during peaceful moments, and stayed awake until three in the morning arguing online about character motivations
His favorites was probably the protagonist spoke but the other one was different, it wasn't even one of the protagonists
It was the villain
King Parrot
Maybe he's parrot favorite because they have the same name?
A genius strategist who united half the continent before he was even twenty
He never lost a war
Never broke a promise
Never underestimated an enemy
Unfortunately...
He was also an emotionally unavailable disaster
He adopted three orphaned children with extraordinary bloodlines
Not because he pitied them
Not because he loved them
Because they were useful
He fed them
Educated them
Protected them
But never once hugged them
Never praised them
Never comforted them
To him, they were investments
Weapons
Future insurance
The children grew up believing they were nothing more than tools
Eventually...
They became stronger than him
And together—
They killed the Tyrant King
The scene was one of the most satisfying moments in the novel
...
At least...
It was satisfying when Parrot read it as a reader
---------------------------------------------------------------
"...Your Majesty?"
Someone's voice echoed nearby
"...Your Majesty?"
Parrot frowned
Who's calling...?
His eyes slowly opened
A magnificent ceiling greeted him
Gold chandeliers
White marble
Silk curtains dancing in the wind.
"..."
He blinked.
"...Where am I?"
Several servants froze
The royal physician nearly dropped his medicine
One elderly butler hurried forward.
"Your Majesty, are you feeling unwell?"
Parrot stared.
"...Your Majesty?"
No
No no no
He slowly looked down
Elegant white gloves
Expensive royal robes
A signet ring decorated with a silver feather
His breathing stopped.
"..."
"...No."
He jumped off the enormous bed and sprinted toward the nearest mirror
The servants panicked
"Your Majesty!"
"Please slow down!"
"The physician said you need rest!"
Parrot ignored them
He reached the mirror
Then...
Everything inside him shattered
Striking chesnut hair
Cyan and golden eyes
Elf ear
Sharp features
Cyan, gold and green wings tuck nicely behind his back
The exact face described hundreds of times throughout the novel
King Parrot
The Tyrant King
"..."
"..."
"...I'm dead."
Silence.
"...I died."
He touched his face
Warm
Real.
"..."
"I reincarnated."
Parrot remeber how he died, does the infamous truck-kun really are true?
The room remained quiet
Then...
Parrot slowly remembered something
The timeline
Wait...
He grabbed the nearby calendar
Year 712
"..."
"..."
His soul nearly left his body
"This is five years before the story starts."
Five
Whole
Years
That meant...
Parrot is still 18 year old
The protagonists were already living inside the palace
...
##############################
Parrot remembered every single detail
Flame
Fifteen
The first adopted one
A Netherling-blaze hybrid
Brown dreadlocks
Heterochromia eyes
One golden eye
One crimson eye
Cold personality
Future King of the Nether
##############################
Wemmbu
The second
A dragon-ender hybrid abandoned because his royal lineage frightened everyone
Fifteen years old
Purple hair
Quiet
Future King of the End
##############################
Spoke
The youngest
Fourteen
A Voidling
Black hair
Glowing white sclera
Because Voidlings matured much slower than humans...
He looked no older than ten
A cheerful boy whose optimism slowly died under Parrot's neglect
Suspicions
Intelligent beyond belief
Future King of the Void
##############################
The three eventually escaped
Created an alliance
Destroyed King Parrot's empire
Then...
Killed him
Painfully
Parrot vividly remembered that chapter
He had actually cheered
"..."
"...I cheered for my own future death."
Fantastic
Absolutely fantastic
He slowly sat on the edge of the bed
His hands covered his face.
"...Think."
He was a medical student
He survived university exams
He could survive this
Think logically
First
Don't die
Second
Avoid the protagonists
Third—
"...Actually..."
He looked up.
"...Maybe I should just release them."
If they never met him...
Then maybe—
A memory suddenly rushed into his head
King Parrot's memories
Meetings
Politics
Economics
Military
Thousands of documents
Names
Strategies
The information crashed into him like a tidal wave.
"..."
"...Ow..."
He held his head
When the headache finally disappeared...
He realized something terrifying
The children...
Legally belonged to him
As crown wards
He couldn't simply throw them out
Not without creating political chaos
Wonderful
Absolutely wonderful
He wanted to cry
Instead...
The royal secretary knocked.
"Your Majesty."
"...Come in."
"There is a council meeting in 2 hour."
"..."
"Also..."
"The three children have completed today's lessons."
Parrot stiffened.
"..."
"They're... here?"
"Of course, Your Majesty."
"..."
"The youngest attempted to sneak out again. "
"..."
"...I see."
The secretary bowed
"I shall prepare your the meeting room. "
The door closed
Silence returned
Parrot stood.
"...Okay."
He took a deep breath.
"I just need to avoid them."
Simple
Very simple
Just avoid them until he figured out a plan
---------------------------------------------------------------
The royal palace was exactly as described
Massive hallways
Paintings worth kingdoms
Guards every few meters
Nobles constantly bowing
Parrot walked while pretending he absolutely knew what he was doing
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Inside...
He was screaming
Don't panic
Walk naturally
You're a king
Kings don't panic
Kings definitely don't want to curl into a ball and cry
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
His thoughts were interrupted by hurried footsteps
Fast
Very fast
Someone rounded the corner at full speed
Parrot barely had time to react
A small figure slammed straight toward him
Instinct moved before thought
One arm reached forward
The other steadied the child's back
Instead of crashing into the marble floor...
The child landed safely in his arms.
"..."
"..."
Time froze
Parrot looked down
Messy black hair
Pale skin
Oversized clothes
And glowing white sclera staring up at him with wide eyes
His heart skipped
...Spoke
The youngest protagonist
The future King of the Void
The person who, in the original novel...
Delivered the final stab into King Parrot's heart
For several long seconds...
Neither of them spoke
Spoke slowly blinked.
"..."
"...Sorry."
His voice was soft
Almost inaudible
He carefully stepped away from Parrot's arms
His expression immediately became guarded, as though waiting for punishment
Parrot remembered
##############################
In the novel...
King Parrot hated disorder
Children who ran inside the palace were usually forced to stand outside for hours as punishment
##############################
Spoke must have expected the same
The hallway became silent
Even the nearby guards looked nervous
Parrot looked at the tiny Voidling
Then sighed.
"...Be careful."
Spoke blinked
"...The floor is polished."
Parrot awkwardly pointed toward the marble beneath them.
"If you fall..."
He hesitated before finishing.
"...You'll get hurt."
Silence
Complete silence
One guard actually looked ready to faint
Spoke stared at him
His glowing eyes widened just a little.
"..."
"...Yes."
He gave a tiny nod.
"...Thank you."
Then...
He quietly hurried away
Not running this time
Walking
Very carefully
Parrot watched him disappear around the corner.
"..."
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"...Did I just survive my first encounter?"
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
One guard whispered to another.
"...His Majesty... didn't punish him."
"I saw."
"...Did the King hit his head harder than we thought?"
Parrot pretended not to hear them
Inside, however...
He smiled a little
Maybe...
Just maybe...
His fate wasn't completely set in stone
---------------------------------------------------------------
Far away, hidden behind a stone pillar...
Spoke quietly touched the sleeve where the King had caught him.
"..."
The Tyrant King...
...had made sure he didn't fall
For some reason...
That confused him more than if he had been punished
