“I’m sorry,” Phil says again. His hand moves towards Dan’s, control over his instincts loosened by the drugs, but he notices in time before they touch. Dan stares at their hands, inches apart on the edge of the hospital bed. What the fuck is wrong with us?, he thinks, but keeps his hand where it is anyway. “I promise I won’t nearly die ever again!”
