Ena had no idea what she had just walked into. Returning from a torturous muse painting session in Mizuki's room, no thanks to someone's endless quips and teasing causing her much stress, Ena expected the main living area to be empty. After all, she roomed with a famous idol, she'd probably have some semblance of a healthy sleep schedule. Much healthier than hers for sure.
But no, Ena instead entered her dorm room to a pair of lights hovering above the couch. A shade or two darker than hot pink, with a faint gold at the center. Wanting to inspect the source of the lights more, Ena turned on the lights.
Turns out those "lights" were actually the glowing eyes of Airi, who was on the couch kissing Shizuku. Yes, glowing. Because apparently, someone had managed to make glow in the dark contacts with two different colors. Or Airi had gained the ability to make her eyes glow. Obviously, the last one wasn't possible.
The two idols and one artist stared at each other, an awkward silence hanging in the air. Eventually, the two separated and— were those FANGS?
Nevermind that, maybe Airi did figure out a way to make her eyes glow.
"What the fuck."
"Ena."
"Airi."
"Oh, hi Ena-chan!" Shizuku chirped, seemingly unbothered by her walking in on them kissing. Bless her pure soul. "Sorry about this, me and Airi thought that you were going to stay the night at Mizuki's and had the room to ourselves."
'Me too Shizuku, me too.' Ena would've said that out loud, but she did not want to go off-topic from the multiple elephants in the room. "Explain yourselves. Both of you."
"We were just kissing…?" Airi let out a weak laugh, one that Ena knew damn well was her 'oh fuck I got caught' laugh.
She pointed towards her middle school friend. "Your eyes were glowing." She pointed to Shizuku. "And both of you have fangs."
"…They're props for an upcoming stream?" The brunette didn't miss the slight pouty look Shizuku gave Airi.
"Prove it."
Another few moments of silence passed before Airi's shoulders slumped in defeat, "ok so they might be real."
"Would you like a closer look at them?" Shizuku asked, very happily bearing her fangs for Ena in full view.
"Shizuku!"
"But Ena-chan's curious!"
"We can't just go telling anyone who's remotely curious about this! Imagine the uproar if fans find out!"
"About what?"
"We're vampires!" Somewhere in the background, Airi facepalmed hard.
Ena stared blankly at the duo. Vampires are real; Her roommate is a vampire; Her middle school friend is a vampire. She absolutely did not have enough sleep over the past week to be processing this properly.
"I have so many fucking questions."
"Go ahead."
Seating herself on the closest side of the couch, Ena prepared herself for this already long night to get even longer.
After 30 minutes of questions and answers, Ena's exhausted brain cells managed to collate the following information.
Yes, the fangs and glowing eyes were a result of them being vampires. Airi and Shizuku could choose when they wanted them to appear or be hidden.
Like vampires depicted in stories, they had to feed on blood to survive. Shizuku managed to find someone willing to supply them bloodbags (who and how was irrelevant), so there was no need to worry about random attacks. Ena attempted to offer herself as an emergency source but Airi swiftly shot down that idea.
Surprisingly, their sleep schedules remained unaffected. If anything, according to Shizuku, it had made them much deeper sleepers.
They also wouldn't die in the sun. They were just allergic to direct sunlight in the same way Airi was allergic to cats. That piece of information explained their recent fascination with umbrellas and sunglasses. Ena had assumed it was some new fashion trend or just them hiding their identities in public. Though that second theory was quickly disproved minutes later upon witnessing Shizuku openly offer to take a selfie with two of her stans… while in "disguise".
Genuinely how did they manage to keep their vampire sides secret for so long?
"Do you have any more questions Ena-chan?"
"I think I'm too tired to process anything else if I do have questions." Ena mumbled, rubbing her temple.
"That's fine, we're open to questions anytime. Well, in private, obviously." Airi giggled, getting up from the couch. "Anyway, 'm probably gonna go crash now."
Shizuku got up moments after that statement, pulling the pink haired girl into a hug and dragging her towards her own room. Ena couldn't help but to laugh at Airi helplessness at her own girlfriend's antics.
Speaking of crashing, she probably should too. Her projects were not going to get anywhere close to completion while she was sleep deprived.
