Third Person POV
Getting to fight alongside Captain America is probably one of the coolest things Scott Lang will ever do
But the more he looks around, the more things start to seem… off.
He went with Steve because Steve told him the world is in danger. That his family is in danger. His daughter.
But…
Scott doesn’t see any ‘world-ending’ dangers around.
“…the Accords.”
What?
Scott blinks in confusion and steps out from behind a pillar.
“Wait, wait. Hold on a goddamn minute.”
Scott falters slightly when Iron Man and Captain America turn to look at him, but he takes a deep breath.
“I came here because Cap said the world was in danger. But… aren’t the Sokovia Accords… aren’t they a line of defense? My-“ Scott flounders for a second, unsure what to describe Hope as, “My person was going over them last night and they didn’t seem like something that would put the world in danger. So, I’m confused.”
At this point, everyone is looking at him.
The guy in the black suit tilts his head in confusion.
“Wait… Captain, was this team of yours not created to stop your friend next to you from facing the consequences of killing my father?”
Scott actually steps back in shock, because what.
“Killing your-“
War Machine opens his faceplate and Scott takes another step back because the guy looks pissed.
“What threat are you talking about, Steve?”
Clint clears his throat.
“Steve called me and said the world was in danger. That is the only reason I came here, the only reason I was willing to leave my family.”
Clint turns to Steve, glaring.
“Now I find out that this supposed ‘threat’ is one you haven’t even told the team about?”
War Machine steps forward, his patience clearly at its limit.
“What. Threat.”
Wilson sighs.
“Cap told us that there are 5 more super soldiers in Siberia.”
Bucky turns and blinks at Cap.
“I… I said they were in cryo-sleep. That they weren’t a danger. I told you that because you said you wanted to know how to help me and I told you to put me back in cryo-sleep.”
“Buck, you’re not a danger! I just-“
“I am a danger, Steve! I told you-“
War Machine rockets off somewhere, probably to try and figure out the whole cryo-sleep super soldier thing, and Clint rounds on Cap.
“You told me the world was in danger. You failed to mention that the world would only be in danger if these soldiers came out of the cryo-sleep they are all currently in. And you failed to mention that your ‘best friend’ here was responsible for killing a bunch of people!”
“It wasn’t him!”
Bucky whirls around and punches Cap straight in the jaw, knocking him out cold.
He gets on his knees and holds out his hands.
“I don’t… I don’t trust myself. I-help me. Please.”
The guy gets taken away by Vision and Scott steps forward, anger starting to form on his face.
“So… Cap lied? I left my house, I broke the law because Cap said the world is in danger. That my daughter is in danger. Now I find out that isn’t true?”
Clint steps next to him and Scott doesn’t know the guy but the look on his face is one Scott understands all too well.
“I left my family for this! Dammit, Steve, I was retired!”
Suddenly a ringtone blasts though the air and Scott pales. He set that ringtone. He knows that ringtone.
It’s Cassie’s school.
A ball of dread starts to form in his stomach as he picks up.
“Where’s my daughter.”
It’s silent on the other end for a moment, and then Scott hears her.
“I told you to work with me, you fool. Now, your daughter pays the price.”
