Work Text:

Kirby was a closeted guy, and that did not help with his anger issues. The pressure of it collected on his chest like a thick Band-Aid, painfully clinging to his chest hairs. It hurt to say it out loud or keep it tucked inside, damned if he didn’t, damned if he did. If it didn’t come out soon to somebody, he was going to explode like a crashing glass in the middle of the night.

What also didn’t help, was hanging out with Trent Northwick. Already an irritating guy, but even more to the extreme they had been forcing themselves to hang out more. Both wanted to see this cheesy movie later this week, and only heard through passerby words that both of them were going. They bumped into each other, had a… semi-cordial conversation surprisingly, and decided they would go together. The two boys didn’t just want to go and make it awkward, so they agreed to get to know each other better.

They were sitting in Trent’s room, watching an older tape of a football game Kirby wanted to watch. Part of his interest in sports had been older games he had seen with his dad on their home TV, and it made him feel a bit closer to home. Trent’s side of the room had a TV the blonde earned using money from an acting job, though it just sat on his dresser. It would be a good example of some one-on-one time, especially since everyone else scrambled for the TV in the lounge. It helped that Kirby and Trent were both rooting for the same team, so it soothed less of the agony of learning a new person. Especially since both kept to their own opinions of the players, since it would be more peaceful that way.

It was too awkward to sit on Trent’s bed and stare at the TV, since its spot was on the dresser right next to the bed. So, the two sat on the floor, sitting on two stolen pillows and a blanket from Trent’s roommate’s bed. They had already been watching for a while, and were close to the end of the game. The jock and bully were at the edge of their seats, commentating over the announcer. Just a few more plays…

Trent had kind of zoned out for a second, not paying attention to the TV. Kirby didn’t notice, continuing his small on-and-off ranting. The bully thought about Kirby, critically and with praise. The brunet tried to be too much like his jock-peers and co-players, too intimidating. The blond tried not to laugh at him, because Kirby was drowning in insecurity, but it was like being hissed at by a kitty who didn’t understand their size. Kirby’s voice was bigger than his chest, and he didn’t cheap out on using it.

Suddenly, an apparently very good play happened on TV, and Kirby jumped out of his seat. Just out of instinct, the blonde made his own shout of congratulations, focusing back on the moment ahead of them. He followed Kirby’s movements, before turning to bump chests with the other male. The bully did not expect that, still standing as the jock sat down.

Trent found his seat again, though he was barely touching it. “You want a beer? I know a guy who knows a guy.” Trent questioned, looking over at the other male he was practically shoulder-to-shoulder with.

“Nah, I’m cool, thanks. I don’t drink and I gotta meet Mandy out later. She’s making me go with her to a dinner-date somewhere nice.” The smaller male grips the front of his hair as he talks, before smoothing it back down.
“Ooh, dinner with a gal. I did that last week with Angie, finally convinced her to go out. Good luck dude.”

Kirby is quickly leaning over his own hands, pointing at the TV, and going back to the game. “Check it out!” The brunet cries out, leaning as a player sprints his way to touchdown. Trent leans over as well, keeping his focus as he also jabs a finger towards the screen. Both scream for the player inside the TV box, encouraging a man whose fate of his play finished years earlier. Kirby had already seen this one a few times, but he couldn’t help but stay passionate.

The player’s stride doesn’t break, until his body smacks down against the opponent team’s end zone. Kirby and Trent roar with excitement, quickly rising to their feet again. Trent jumps in place once and Kirby thrusts a fist down near his shoulder, before turning to each other. They slam their chests against each other yet again, but don’t get to part far away from each other. Trent doesn’t know why, but he leans in to kiss Kirby. Shocking to him, the short boy doesn’t pull away.

Their hands travel fast as they smash lips and rub noses, unable to stay in one place. Kirby tips up and Trent tilts down, unable to break away under the sound of televised cheer. The kiss itself isn’t too rough, but their tongues meet each other anytime Kirby dips in. Their hands do follow a kind of pattern though, each pair staying close to the other set of hands. If Kirby grabbed and pawed at Trent’s face, the blonde ran his hands through the brunet’s hair. If the jock grabbed along his waist or hips, the bully trailed arms around the other’s shoulders. Their hands dug and bit into the other boy’s body, not holding back on strength. The only thing keeping them from falling over was the fact that both of them put as much force into it as the other.

As the blonde’s hands nailed into his back, Kirby moved away from Trent by a push off of his shoulder. It was only 6 seconds long, but it had Kirby a bit red and staring at the floor. Trent was a little confused himself, mainly looking over the other boy. He really didn’t know why he did that. The other was cute but that wasn’t the bully’s intent.

“Wait, wait, what-what was that? What just happened?” Kirby stutters, looking over at the other male for answers. He was just looking for a friendly time with Trent, not whatever that was. He didn’t want to complain too much though, Trent wasn’t a bad kisser, not at all. He had a lot of practice probably, and it made Kirby think about him kissing other guys.
Trent lightly scoffs to himself like it’s obvious, shakingly pointing a hand as he blames it on the TV. “Our team scored-“ “No,” the brunet bellows, “the other part!”

“The part about my tongue in your mouth?” The bully murmurs with a huff, rubbing at his ear anxiously. Now, the room felt a little stuffy. “Yeah, yeah that part.”

“It was nothing!” Trent throws his hands as he tries to play it off, both of them trying to laugh it off. The blonde just didn’t want to be the first one to admit what both boys just committed to, or what kind of floodgate this could open between them.

“Right. I was, it was just a thing. Football thing! Happens, all the time…” Kirby tries to continue, itching at his jaw. He didn’t know if the taller male was trying to test him, or even if Trent was a bit… confused himself. “You think so?”

“No way.” Both murmur amongst each other, just existing in the quiet of Trent’s room for a bit. Kirby is clawing at his jaw still, almost digging his fingers into his skin. The way the flesh forms around his nails reminds him of how he just man-handled Trent, and the jock has to force his hand away from himself. Kirby points a finger back and forth between them. “So uh, are we gay?”

“No, no…” Trent scoffs again, before nibbling at his lip a bit in thought. He really didn’t care if he was gay or not, a mouth was a mouth. He didn’t know how Kirby would react to him being so laidback about it, though. “…I don’t know. Were you excited?”

“No!” The jock immediately yelps out of instinct, fully looking Trent in the eyes. Kirby’s hands come together as he fidgets, before affirming the question. “Yes. A little bit…I was a little bit excited.” Kirby sighs, putting his hands on his head and ducking lightly. The brunet had an almost dirty feeling over his fingertips, the ones that kneaded the bully’s skin. He felt like he was about to be grilled alive by Trent. “God, does that make me gay?”

Though he looked a bit pitiful, Trent felt almost proud at the confession. “Well, no…! Uhm, yeah. A little bit gay.” He felt bad cause of the other’s unease, but he wanted his hands back on Kirby.
“So we’re a little bit gay?” Kirby runs his hands over the front of his hair, freaking out just a tiny bit at this moment. It just had to happen with Trent, whatever this was.

“Listen.” Trent trails himself over to Kirby, putting his hands on either of his shoulders. He had a hangout with Kirby planned, and he wasn’t going to wreck it over this. He didn’t want to go by himself, even if Kirby was the one he had to go with.“We’re just two guys, we got a little excited and made out, it's no big deal!”

“That still sounds a little gay to me, man.” He says with a heavy breath out, before snapping his head back to the TV. The announcer yelling again breaks his attention, and he didn’t want to miss this bit of the game. That’s what he was here for, after all. He puts a hand on Trent’s chest, trying to get back into what they came here for, the game. Just trying to rationalize everything for himself again. “Look! … look at this…”

Trent immediately drops his hands to look back at the TV, itching over his hands and watching carefully. The announcers aren’t just celebrating, but the crowd is practically screeching directly into the TV with how loud they are. Kirby cocks another fist back to himself in silent cheer, before grunting out “They got it!” Both yell with their adrenaline once more, and both move to embrace each other again.

Both immediately practically drool over each other again, connected like smooth sides of a magnet. Like the two boys coming together was something so natural it was a current that couldn’t be stopped. Kirby’s hand grips the base of Trent’s hair, tugging the bully forward into the jock. His other hand finds purchase under the blonde’s chin, holding up Trent’s jaw and laying against his throat. Frantic as ever, Trent tugs on Kirby’s body like the other had in the first round of kissing, trying to show some more aggression.

“I know you’re a man, but I’m gonna treat you like a lady,” Trent whispers to the other boy, keeping him excited.

The kiss had much more force to it this time, teeth and all going into it. The bully wraps his arms around the brunet’s middle section, helping hoist him up into the kiss, keeping promise to his word. Kirby’s hand grips hard into Trent’s hair, and the other rubs around to the back of his neck. It’s one of the ways he’s staying upright, because Trent’s hands aren’t holding him properly on the legs. He starts sliding down lightly, the blonde pushing up on him once to keep him there. Slowly, Kirby pulls back from the kiss, looking down at Trent. They embrace without the kiss, letting Kirby slide down as they iron-fist each other’s clothes again. Soon again, they’ve parted, and Kirby is continuing his freak out again.

“What the hell?! What the hell is going on?! I-I think we’re gay, big time man.” Kirby’s chewing at his fingers, heart beating out of his chest in fear and excitement. “Big time,” he repeats nervously to himself, not looking back at Trent yet.

Trent feels like Kirby is being melodramatic, and Trent was supposed to be the actor! He wasn’t going to be a dick though, leaning against his bed as he heaved slightly from the kiss. He partially refocused on the TV again, only half listening to Kirby’s slight meltdown. “What do you want us to do?” He mumbles his question. “I don’t know… I’m new. I’m a new gay.” The brunet accepts himself aloud, finally coming to meet the other’s eyes again.

“I could take you to a gay bar.” The blonde suggests as he itches his nose. He hadn’t been before, but maybe that was what Kirby needed. Softly taking a swift gaze away from the TV, the blonde temperature-checks Kirby’s face. The jock was slowly coming around to the idea, but was still a little confused. At least he didn’t think Trent was testing him anymore. “Can you go if you’re new?”

Trent scoffs and rolls his eyes, before sarcastically suggesting, “Well dillweed, should we light some scented candles?

“Uh, no, no! Not candles! Man, I’m not gay!” Kirby nods to the question before immediately sputtering as he realizes the blonde’s tone. As the TV shows a close-up of the cheerleaders to the side, the brunet smacks Trent’s chest and points. “Look, cheerleaders, that’s what I’m all about, man. I’m trying to go out with Mandy! I like… short skirts and tits, I’m not gay!”

The jock denies it once again as he slightly starts to sway to the music the cheerleaders were dancing to, Trent following in tandem. Soon again their hands are over each other’s bodies again, grinding against one another as they dance softly. Kirby was the one to mainly get caught in the web of distraction before the bully just reminded him. “I’m gay. I’m really gay. This, is really gay.”

“Wait, wait, wait, man! Look, I don’t know what’s going on here, okay? But,” Kirby laughs nervously, pointing at his chest, “just cause a couple guys kiss and dance a little, and grope each other, and just cause I like what you said, does not make me gay…! I gotta… I gotta head out to Mandy. You’re not gonna be weird about this, right?”

Trent huffs in annoyance but nods. He wished Kirby would get over his pride, literally, and stay. But fruits do have to grow before they get sweet, so he couldn’t rush the brunet. “No, are you?”

“No… No I’m not.” Kirby would first kill Trent and then himself if that ever got out. He runs his hands through his hair to smooth down his anxious ruffling, before turning to the TV one last time. The last play.

“Open field-!” Is all Trent makes out as he snaps his head forward again, before yelling at the finished play.

Kirby almost reaches out his hands for Trent, but holds them behind his back in restraint. He stutters to himself before the bully finally turns back to him, Kirby can barely get his words out. “I gotta gay-I gotta go. GO.” Kirby pauses the TV and collects his tape. He throws the pillow back on Trent’s roommate’s bed, before turning back to the blonde. His hands hook under Trent’s jaw with a goodbye kiss, before scrambling out of the door.

That movie hangout, if you could even still call it that, was going to be weird. Who knew football was so homosexual?
