Everything goes to hell on a Tuesday.
Ilya knows it’s a Tuesday because it’s also the season opener and the Raider’s first game against Montreal, the game he’s been looking forward to for weeks, through a long summer spent in Russia watching his father deteriorate, arguments with his brother that nearly devolved into fistfights, threats from Polina made out of fear for her standing and a barely masked loathing for her husband’s children. He’s finally in Boston, and he’s thought about little else than getting back on the ice…and seeing Shane.
