Work Text:

“White.” Black hissed through gritted teeth, his grip on the pan tightening. He was practically being shoved onto the damn stove by White, who would not stop FUCKING HUGGING HIM! They kept pressing against him, as though the zero space between their bodies wasn’t close enough. It seemed White would only be satisfied If the fucker crawled into his very skin. Black reached back, trying to shove White off.

“LET. GO.” Black tried to command, only feeling White squeeze their arms around his abdomen tighter. Ugh, he could feel his guts caving in. “What is WRONG with you?! Did something fucking happen? because it better have been something shitty since you're acting like a wuss!” Black spat out empty insults, frustrated growls threatening to froth from his lips. White nuzzled their nose into his neck hard, making Black screech in an ungodly manner.

“Nothing happened. I missed you” White muttered against the nape of his neck, making Black flinch. He was lying, trying to divert the topic once again, he had to be.

“WELL! Something evidently happened since you turned into a PARASITE!” Black accused with little patience, already plotting how to make White suffer tonight. But he had to think of something quick for now. “I’m not giving you good night kisses if this keeps up”. Black said calmly, making White aware of how serious he was. It did work, White pulling away as an exasperated sigh slipping out, turning away and giving Black room.

“So overdramatic.” they grumbled, crossing their arms in a huff as their face scrunched up, making a show of their disdain of an empty embrace. They rested against the counter, not fully leaving Black alone by only being a few steps from him.

Black really didn’t get why they were acting this way. He didn't recall doing something to make them act differently. At least for now, he could breathe without the threat of his shirt accidentally catching fire. Black stirred the vegetable and chunks of meat in the pan, having been making stir fry for dinner. Even with his attention on the food, Black could feel White staring a hole into him. Black simply stayed silent, what would be the point shooing White away after inviting them over in the first place.

Black could feel his heart flutter, keeping a cold expression as he felt the warmth of White still holding him. Black looked over, sighing softly.
“Dinner’s ready, get a dish.” Black alerted White, noting how they seemed zoned out. Black felt his face burn when White turned away, realizing they had been watching him.

Black shook himself from reminiscing, still thinking of white’s odd behavior from a week ago. He stood under the streetlamp, the light shining down on him like a prison guard light, alerting anyone of his presence. His foot tapped quickly, checking his watch again as he felt his patience thin. The informant was supposed to be here half an hour ago, and Black felt naked being in the bright light. With a heavy sigh, Black pulled out a cigarette and lighter, flicking the light a couple times to occupy his antsy hands. With the fifth flick of the lighter, Black decided to finally light his cigarette.

The smoke swirled up into the night sky, pitch black encompassing everything. It would look no different if you were to close your eyes. Black leaned back against the streetlamp, eyelids lowering halfway. Should he leave? Was the exchange compromised and now the intel captured? Black wasn’t sure, as the possibility of the person being late was high, just based on prior experience with this informant.

The silence stretched out, making Black hyper aware of his surroundings. He felt like a pair of eyes were on him now, causing Black to quit his smoke and stomp it out. Looking around there wasn’t anybody out and about, not even a stray alley cat. The empty air echoed Black’s beating pulse, his nerves getting the better of him. He was going to kick the informant in the shins for being late. If they ever show up, that is.

Black’s leg bounced against his will, unconsciously trying to soothe his growing anxiety. Checking his wrist again, ten minutes had passed, making Black feel his anger simmer. Black considered abandoning his post now, having a slithering fear that something bad was going to happen. His eyes were getting more twitchy, scanning around like a cornered animal.

A strong scent of cleaning product invaded his senses, already familiar with who often accompanied it. Black’s neck snapped as he looked directly into the direction of White, spotting them stepping out from around a corner. Their eyes fixated with his, feeling how deep White tried to dive in. The silence stayed uncomfortably long, not a word nor sound made. Black finally let his gaze fall, eyes widening as he saw the briefcase in White’s hand. Shit. His embassy would not be happy with that.

White took one step closer, Black immediately stopped leaning on the street lamp and straightened up, ready for any sudden attacks. They strolled closer, their sterile scent surrounding Black into a trained sense of comfort. The street lamp illuminated White, making their white attire glow against the darkness surrounding them. They got closer, slowly to ease into his space. Black smelled the stench of iron before he saw the red liquid painting the suitcase. Blood coated one of White’s hands, with some splatter reaching his sleeve.

Black dragged his gaze back to White’s unblinking eyes, still open wide. The reeking smell thickened in the air, now stronger as White kept stepping closer. They only stopped until they were an arm’s reach away. Black’s body was tense, anticipating for White to attempt something, even as the smell made his mind foggy. Black flinched as White outstretched the suitcase towards him, taken aback by them just simply handing it over without a fight. Black’s eyes snapped down at the suitcase and then back at White, bewildered.

“What-”
“Just take it.” White softly directed, breathing a bit uneven. Black now noticed their chest rising up and down, their labored breathing ringing in his ears. White had to have done this no longer than 5 minutes ago. Black felt his lips quiver, holding back his face from expression. Black reached out and took the suitcase, a passing thought of a planted bomb.

“Thank you. May I know where my informant is?” Black inquired, trying to keep his voice stable and not waver. White smiled softly, almost angelic under the lighting.

“They’re gutted in the dumpster.” White spoke contently, like this was a tender moment of hushed confessions. Black stared, his hand clenching before relaxing, forcing his body to ease so as to not be shaky. His heart was beating faster, a rush of blood washing his face. White leaned in close, forcing Black to jolt back in surprise.

“White.” Black sternly called, trying to keep himself from fidgeting with the suitcase. White stilled, seemingly not having expected him to stop them. “Why did you hand me the suitcase?” Black already accepted that his informant was indeed dead, maybe even justly deserved. He caught the way White’s jaw had clenched, and the soft huff of air they did.

“I didn’t like the way they touched you last time” White explained clearly, leaning in further into Black’s face. “You don't care about them do you? Do you not care about me? I didn’t like them. I did not like how they kept holding your hand. You TOUCHED-” Black covered their mouth, his hand silencing them but not pushing them away. Black’s face was flushed red, his heart beating like crazy as he struggled to steady his breathing.

“No. White, you know I love you. But seriously, they only grazed my hand. That's it… and besides I’m at work. Neither of us can do this right now.” Black explained, drawing back his hand, noticing White was scanning his blushing face. He could see in real time how they were ingraining every detail to memory. Their hand reached up, interlacing their fingers with his hand like a perfect puzzle. White tilted Black’s hand, kissing his knuckles, purposefully making the contact linger.

“Give me a kiss and I'll leave” White requested, stepping further into Black’s space. Black quickly whipped his head left and right, to prevent a kiss and ensuring it was truly just the two of them. The bright streetlamp did not quell Black’s anxious mind, and it made it clear the true intention of the close proximity. Quickly, Black planted a kiss to White’s cheek, about to turn and book it. Their arms wrapped about him, forcing him to stay.
“Not that type of kiss. Please.” White nuzzled into Black’s neck, inhaling deeply and they drank him in. Black shivered as an odd warmth bloomed in his stomach.

“Alright. Com’ere.” He warmly cooed at White, tempted to go along. White lifted their head, looking lovingly at him, so much that Black felt he would die of diabetes. He leaned in and pressed his lips firmly against theirs, feeling their relieved exhale wash over his face. The kiss was long, not discrete either. White’s hands grazed Black’s waist, feeling them trail their hands up and down. He felt light headed, almost euphoric at how intense it felt. Finally pulling away for air, Black snaked away from White, mostly to make sure they kept their word.
“I’ll see you tomorrow morning. I promise.~” Black huffed out, disappearing into the darkness.
White watched him retreat, staying under the street lamp until they were out of his sight completely.

The strong whiskey burned as the alcohol slid down His throat, making his whole body buzz. It had been a while since Black took the time for a drink, fond memories resurfacing. He had often gone out drinking with a few of his coworkers that he was close with. The night felt full of life and joy at those times, never quiet. Now, Black was simply relaxing, his hands full with being a top spy and trying to come to terms with the events from three days ago.

He could feel White glaring at him, ignoring it in favor of nursing the glass of whiskey. Despite his attempts to seem absentminded, White was always able to read him like a book. They were close to him, thankfully the bar empty with the bartender having retreated in the back. Black didn’t take his gaze away from his whiskey, as White’s attention felt too intense. White huffed, directly at him to get his attention.

“Yes White?” Black’s voice was slightly worn, exhaustion evident in his tone. White inched away, sighing offended as they rested their hand on the bar counter.

“You’re off in your own world thinking of something else.” They tapped their index finger against the bar counter. Black caught the split moment where White’s hand flexed, desperate to claw hard against the wood, before easing into a deceptive calm.
“Who are you thinking of?” White’s voice was calm, but that didn’t make Black tense any less. He wasn’t given a chance to answer before White was barraging him with questions. “Is it that new informant your embassy hired? Is she that pretty? Are you already meeting her? Do you like that woman more-”

“You are the most jealous White spy I know” Black remarked sarcastically, cutting White off as a slight chuckle slipped from his lips. White stared in silence, a single beat passing before they spoke again. Oh, man.

“What’s the fucker’s name?” White declared coldly, voice laced with venom. Their empty gaze was dark, facing Black as his heat skipped a beat. They looked ready to kill whatever stood between the two of them. Black slight amused expression fell into tired annoyance, not having expected White to outright prove his joking statement as fact. He groaned as he facepalmed, growling out his exasperation while his hand dragged down. Turning his head, he felt his blood pressure rocket as he prodded at White’s chest accusingly, eyes narrowing at the white spy.

“This is what I'm talking about!” Despite the reprimand in his tone, Black could feel his face growing warm. He could blame the alcohol, but hearing how ready White was to kill for him made his stomach delightfully churn.
“There’s NO ONE in my embassy I'm interested in.” Black declared clearly for them, brows furrowed deep as he prayed this ended this discussion.

White tilted his head, puzzled at his statement. White leaned in close, narrowing their gaze.
“Was it a coworker of mine? Just tell me which and I'll make sure they don't bother you.” White muttered sweetly, resting one of his hands on Black’s thigh. Their hand was cold, Black’s hand twitching with an urge to warm it.

Black placed his hand on theirs, trying to be discreet as He laced their fingers. He ran his thumb over their knuckles, trying to heat up their hand.
“Who the hell is willing to kill their own teammates? Are you sure you could actually keep your word?” Black teased, not really expecting White to go against his own coworkers.

“Yes,” They answered without a second passing after Black spoke, “You’re mine only. I don't want you thinking about any other White embassy Spy but Me.” White pleaded a bit, tone hushed as a devoted saint praying to their god. Sure, it probably was very bad that White was willing to kill his own team, something Black would never stoop to. But to know White’s feelings went that far, so strongly, made Black feel the effects of the alcohol much more.

Black walked down the streets as he chatted with a coworker. He couldn’t recall the last time he was free from any missions or mandated paperwork. It was nice winding down from it. The coworker was good hearted, despite the harsh training and discipline, always upheld a cheery attitude. Black mindlessly tagged along, following wherever they went as his mind kept lingering elsewhere, onto White.

The coworker paused, checking behind their back very obviously. Black clicked his tongue, trying to hint at them to be more discreet. A sigh escaped him as he brought an arm up and smacked them upside the head.

“Come on Copper. We're spies, remember? What are you doing?” Black mused, interested in what caught their attention. The taller spy rubbed his neck, chuckling awkwardly.

“Ah right, Sorry. I don't know man. I just feel like someone is staring at me” They replied with a chuckle, not scared but more flustered at flubbing being sneaky. Black simply hummed a yes, jerking his head forward to direct Copper. They immediately get the message and continue their path towards the black headquarters. Black pondered for a minute, wondering why he didn’t sense anyone watching. He peeked at windows, puddles, and his watch, checking through the reflective surfaces, yet nothing was out of the ordinary.

Black stopped with copper a couple bollocks from the entrance gate of the Black embassy headquarters, forced to linger with his chat with copper. He allows it this time, wanting to catch up as much as he could before the next time he’d be stuck doing paperwork. Copper reaches their arms out, about to go in for a hug. Black returned the gesture and accepted, mindful of his hands. The hug wasn’t long, over quick like any other typical greeting or farewell, pulling away as his coworker patted his back.

Black momentarily realized he had been pulling away from his faction, not interacting with his fellow man as much as he used to. He had been distancing himself from the Black embassy for a while now, something else taking the main focus. Something caught his attention, a sound of a stone being accidentally kicked.

With a nonchalant stretch of his neck, Black feigned unawareness as he spotted someone peeking around a corner. Black looked back at his coworker, still chatting with him, not registering the familiar figure at first. It finally clicked for Black why he couldn't sense anyone tailing him and his coworker, even with his longer experience on the field.

It was White, whose recent staring tendency had been so frequent, Black no longer considered it out of the ordinary. The split thought that, White was training Black into not sensing when he was being watched by them, crossed his mind.

White glared at the man, before locking their eyes onto Black, restrained fury threatening to boil over. Their finger tapped and scraped at such a quick pace, Black almost didn’t catch the message.

Okay. It was a sign for Black to get away before White murdered someone innocent. Black excused himself from the onesided conversation, wishing them well quickly as he briskly retreated. He was not about to risk the life of this coworker, they were goodhearted.

Black sneaked back to White, looking back and seeing he wasn’t followed. He opened his mouth to speak, only to be yanked by his arm and pulled around the corner. White pulled him close, hugging him tight enough to crush his ribs. He was kind of convinced that’s what they were trying to do. Black wheezed, the air forced out of his lungs as White snuggled into his neck, then breathing in deeply. Fucking freak. White nuzzled under his chin, rubbing their face just like a cat marking their territory. Black felt his face burn, looking around to make sure no one saw. Fuck… there was no sane explanation why Black found this attractive.

Black tried to wrap his arms around White’s torso, returning their embrace, although lacking the strength to return the same intensity. He knew what White was about to do, having experienced this type of reaction before. Black was about to speak to White, tell them whatever comforting words they wanted till they felt better. Their trembling took him by surprise, never expecting White to be this frenzied yet.

“White?” Black called out softly, hoping to knock them out of whatever they were thinking. Black definitely felt a rib crack as White squeezed excruciating tight, before releasing. White pulled away, biting at their lower lip as their hat shadowed part of their face. Black reached up and lift their hat up, staring in amazement as White’s eyes welled with tears. His heart skipped a beat, the image scarring into his psyche. Black felt panic finally hit him as he immediately tried to remedy their distressed mind.
“Hey Hey! White look at me. You know I love you. You’re the only one I care about Alright?” He palmed their face, holding back from smiling wide as White nuzzled their face into his palm. “Heckel. You’re my match no matter what. Dead or alive.”

White connected their gaze, keeping eye contact for as long as possible. They were enamoured, hearing their real name spoken. They wrapped their hand over Black’s, reveling in their comforting hold. They closed their eyes, fully absorbing the warmth and attention from him. Black smiled tenderly, rubbing his thumb over their cheek.
“You’ll never abandon me?” White questioned peacefully, looking through his damp lashes at him. Black simply huffed out exasperated but still ended up smirking cheekily. Just how he wanted them to be, desperately dependent on him.

“I’ll torment you beyond the grave. Afterall, You do that plenty to keep me alive.”

Notes:

Surprise! Black wanted White clingy!

literally I did not plan that
but yeah, they both just kinda end up withdrawing from theri usual life and kinda stick like glue to the other. although Black tries to seem normal.
