The cackle he gets in response is so profoundly grating that it feels like sandpaper on his bones. Or like transient paresthesia, but all along his spine. “No amount of bullets or stakes you have ever had or ever will have can take me on, Father Quinn,” he taunts back, after calming his roaring laughter, “and to call it telepathy is to oversimplify my nature,” he boasts. “Fortunately, I am not here to fight you, Your Reverence.”
