Punk Princess

Summary:

“Oh my god it’s so not fair. You’re so pale, you look way better in my look than I do!”

Fi grinned. There wasn’t a compliment you could tell that girl that she wouldn’t believe. “Really? Let me look, let me look.”

Dani helps Fi with a makeover.

Work Text:

Fi giggled again, pulling back and lifting a hand up over her mouth.

Dani grabbed the hand and pulled it back down into Fi’s lap, cross legged on the floor. She bit back her own grin.

“Would you stop it? You’re making my life incredibly difficult right now.” Dani reached up to her chin, just the lightest touch to angle her face back up, and went back in with the lip liner.

“Sorry. You’re making me nervous. You’re so cute when you’re focused,” Fi whispered to her.

Dani blushed deep, and tried to cover it with a whispered response, “You know, speaking quietly doesn’t actually stop your mouth from moving.”

Fi pouted, puppy dog eyes bright blue against the maroon shadow and heavy liner.

“That’s perfect actually. Hold just like that.”

Dani zeroed in. Only years of doing this to herself and the intense focus were stopping her hands from shaking. She couldn’t think of a time before now she’d be so close to Fi’s face for so long. At least a time when they’d both been awake. There had been times that she wouldn’t admit to even under torture where she had gotten too close at sleepovers, dreaming of a reality she was not in.

Fi’s tongue darted out to chase the pencil as she pulled away.

Dani kept her voice low, although there was no reason. They were alone at Fi’s house. But the moment felt fragile, delicate. Different from their normal boisterous days, a moment it felt like she should protect.

She turned back to the makeup bag and pulled out the two lipsticks. “Okay we’ve got dark red or black, what do you think?”

“Seems like we should go all in for punk, no?” Dani nodded in agreement and pulled off the cap to the black lipstick, one more time to Fi’s face.

She traced the gentle curves slowly, tried to not watch how the lips pulled and moved against the drag of the stick. She pulled back to evaluate the final look.

In addition to the makeup, Fi was dressed in dark plaids from the charity shop. She had on a pair of old black skinny jeans they’d taken scissors too to make them look more beat up, and a black leather jacket of Dani’s. Her usually perfectly smooth jet black hair was today teased and spiked the sort of messy look that secretly takes hours to achieve.

“Oh my god it’s so not fair. You’re so pale, you look way better in my look than I do!”

Fi grinned. There wasn’t a compliment you could tell that girl that she wouldn’t believe. “Really? Let me look, let me look.”

Fi dragged her to the mirror, and they stood to watch their reflection.

“You know Dani-boy, maybe next time we need to get you in some of my clothes. I think you might look really nice in color.”

Dani scoffed, “I really don’t think pastels are my vibe.“

In their reflection Dani watched as Fi leant over, and pressed a kiss right to the bright spot at the top of her jaw. Dani turned to look at her.

“Thank you,” said Fi, with a soft smile on her face.

“Careful,” she mumbled. “You’re gonna smudge off all my hard work.”

She brought her thumb up, to smear away the mess, and Fi caught her wrist before she could pull away, one more kiss to her thumb, just a glance from her tongue.

Dani was frozen, a rabbit in a snare. Her heart ran straight from her chest. Fi just grinned.

“Come on, let’s take some photos outside before we lose the light.” Her hand slid from wrist to palm, twining their fingers together as she led them out the door.
