    Ilya Rozanov was stood in the hallway outside his door, leaning against the wall with one arm wrapped around his middle. His eyes were glassy and red-rimmed, and a smattering of deep reddish purple bruises painted his face. His bottom lip was cut, and dried blood had gathered at the corners of his mouth and on his chin.

    "Hollander," Ilya greeted him, smiling sheepishly, "are you going to invite me in?"
