Chapter Text
Months.
It had been months since Flame last was in his base.
Now he was ready to take on the Law and he would do it by himself if he had to. No one — and by that he meant absolutely no one could exile the Immortal Demon without regretting it.
He would make them regret.
He would make sure that they all remembered what happens when you mess with the Immortal Demon.
They all thought that he ran — That he was a coward, complying with the Laws demands.
Guess who's about to eat their words.
Flame had to admit that Lettuce did a pretty good job with sullying his name. He laughed bitterly at the thought. All that work — everyone he had fought to get his status — gone just like that.
Even the base itself was a constant reminder of that fact. It had been raided by many.
They probably started to search for anything of value as soon as the news of his "successful" exile got out. An after that they started to take everything else as well, because who didn't want to brag about having stolen something from the Immortal Demon.
At this point there wasn't nothing more left for him to restock. Only the jarring image of a Law emblem carved into one of the walls.
There was no longer anything to come back to, except a hole in the mountainside.
He stood there staring at the Law emblem, when he heard someone step through the battered-up doors, accompanied by a sound he knew to far too well by now.
Flame immediately tensed, ready to take on whoever now stood in the doorway.
"Relax, just one person"
Of all people-
"Why are you here — at my base" A stupid question, since Lettuce only ever showed up for one reason. Still… something was different about the way Lettuce held himself.
"Look, I knew you'd come back. I told you to stay away and I knew you wouldn't listen"
Flame narrowed his eyes. It was unlike Lettuce to start explaining himself before an attack.
Lettuce tried to explain. He started yapping again, about how he was in the right and Flame should just give up.
He should have tried convincing him before he mastered every weapon to destroy the Law.
Flame didn't need to listen anymore. So he didn't. After everything; after sending thousands of players after him; after exiling him, Lettuce still thought he could talk Flame out of it.
It was pathetic.
He started attacking Lettuce, since the leader of the Law apparently didn't bring any of his goons today. And even if he had, it would make much of a difference.
"You really thought a conversation would solve this?"
After chasing Lettuce off, Flame was more motivated than ever to finally exact his revenge. There was nothing blocking his way. Nothing that could prevent him.
Wemmbu hadn't waited for Egg.
And maybe he should feel guilty since he was meant to meet up with his friend. But on the other hand, it was better this way.
Lettuce thought that he could use blackmail to stop him —- which was pretty rude if you asked Wemmbu. Though he had to admit Eggchan could have been used as leverage. His friend had quite a talent for getting taken hostage after all.
And he hadn't died in any of these escapades yet —- It had never felt like a real threat either.
But Wemmbu wasn't willing to take any risk and Lettuce had taken advantage of his recklessness time and time again. Wemmbu was done with being surprised by the fact that his plans didn't work out; especially when he already had a hostage to rescue.
But first: his "plan".
For that he would need the help of FlameFrags. Not with fighting but as a distraction to ensure Lettuce wouldn't get the idea of sending Jaden to the Void prematurely.
The Immortal Demons base was close now. As the mesa's dry plateaus passed by him, Wemmbu took in the destruction that the LAW and probably a number of chungies left behind. It all seemed to have been placed without purpose, only there to mock the warrior that resided here.
The fact, that Flame had let it come this far was curious.
Finally the doors, carved into the rocks came into view. Wemmbu ended his flight, landing on top of where the base was. He hesitated for a moment to listen for any signs of the man he was visiting.
There it was. The sound of chests being opened and closed, accompanied with hurried footsteps.
He smirked and decided to ignore the door, in favor of just breaking through the ceiling. Surely it wouldn't bother anyone.
A few moments of digging later, there was a hole for him to slip through.
Wemmbu jumped in and tried to put on his best nonchalant look. Facing him now was the one-and-only FlameFrags —-
"Wemmbu?"
Who couldn't have looked more puzzled if Wemmbu decided to burst in riding a chicken.
"What are you even doing-"
"Do you plan on going to the LAW prison?" Wemmbu interrupted and immediately started walking around Flames base to search for any spare gear.
"What- .. Bro stop opening all my chests!"
"So do you plan on storming the LAW prison?"
"Well- I am —- But why couldn't you use the door?!" Flame said while trying to keep the intruder from taking his stuff. "You know what, never mind. What do you want?"
"I'm just here to say hello to my friend!" Wemmbu answered with both his hands in a chest.
Which had its cover slammed down by Flame. "Okay, let's stop trolling. There's no way you came here without needing something. Have you even watched out for the LAW base that's here?"
"How is there a LAW base here?" He huffed out a laugh. "But you're right. I came here to team up for breaking into the LAW prison."
"And you need me for that?" The Immortal Demon raised an eyebrow.
"Not really, I just thought it'd be fun and I could use a distraction for our friend Letty over there."
"Uh-huh. You're lucky that I already planned to go there myself."
"What? You love working with me!"
"Right." Flame rolled his eyes beneath his blindfold. "We have to gear up first do you have anything?"
"Oh buddy, I have been in the trenches since our fight-" The mace wielder already went back to rummaging through every chest and shulker he could find. "Guess we'll have to use your gear"
This earned him another half-amused eye-roll. "Okay, bro"
goal /ɡəʊl/
= the object of a person's ambitions or effort; an aim or desired result.
Taking down the LAW wasn't an easy task. It shouldn't have been a task in the first place.
The election wasn't a bad idea. It could have changed something.
Lettuce wasn't a bad person —- at least not at first —- and yet he was the one everyone wanted to defeat. He could have become King of Unstable even without being corrupt.
No… Parrot would have won. He could still win. He just needed to convince everyone. Parrot could still make it.
Even though he was thousands of votes behind. Even though everyone seemed to play against him. Even though he was in LAW custody at the moment.
There was still a chance…
to fail /feɪl/
= be unsuccessful in achieving one's goal.
But what could he do from in here. There was no one. Everyone he knew was also hunted by the LAW. How would they assist him when they had their own worries and as long as Lettuce had his propaganda, no player would dare to help Parrot.
And Theo was captured as well. He was in another facility; so far away, that they weren't able to plan an escape.
Hell, Parrot wasn't even sure if anyone of his allies knew his location. It had been a public arrest but they would have been arrested themselves if they'd come into the vicinity of the northern council.
And Theo was imprisoned because of him. He had dragged him into all of this to begin with.
liability /ˌlʌɪəˈbɪlɪti/
= a person or thing whose presence or behavior is likely to put one at a disadvantage.
Theo could have died, only for Parrot to escape; only for him to get taken a prisoner anyway.
The funny thing is that there wouldn't have been a difference if Parrot had done the fighting himself. Only that the fight would have ended faster and that Theo would be out there still.
And then he'd come after Parrot.
They always did.
They came after him, saved him, helped him achieve his goal.
Then they all-
fault /fɔːlt,fɒlt/
= responsibility for an accident or misfortune.
It was always one of his friends, wasn't it.
Parrot couldn't help but smile at that bitterly.
The universe had a funny way of telling you to stop trying…
No…
No.
Theo was still alive. Wemmbu was still out there and the LAW put him into this prison. That alone was proof for the fact that it wasn't over.
ParrotX2 was still a threat. He hadn't lost. He wouldn't.
He looked up at the guard standing in front of his cell, thinking about ways to escape.
And yet, there was nothing he could do, except wait for something or someone to create an opportunity.
Everything was going to plan.
That's what Spoke would have liked to say if it was true.
It wasn't too bad either; there were just too many unknowns.
You could argue that no plan can ever work out perfectly since there is always some factor you can't control.
Sometimes there are even positive surprises, like the two idiots currently fighting to storm the prison.
Although he would have liked the LAW to pay less attention to the prison, a distraction was fine as well.
He could work with that.
It only restricted their timetable a little bit.
Two guards, which he barely dodged, rushed by him. Unfortunately, there was no time to look what direction they went in. There were more pressing matters.
The facility was obviously built with prison breaks in mind. Its layout was complicated and had an unnecessary amount of doors.
"Wrong again!" Spoke cursed as he turned a corner. If there hadn't been so much backtracking, Spoke would have already found the avian he was searching for.
So he ran down the hallway again.
Now turn right or left? Which hallway did he search already?
Right?
Left it is.
At the end of said corridor is another Door. Great.
Just use more TNT. It's fine. There's still enough for ten more Doors.
I hope.
Hallway. Turn right. Turn right. Door. Another door (for some reason). Hallway. Turn left. Door-
And there it was.
The next Hallway was lined with three doors on each side. Spoke had memorized the prisons layout before the heist. That's why he knew what part of the facility he had reached.
Solitary confinement
This had to be it.
His breath had become a bit ragged from the stressed search. He tried to even out his breathing again.
While walking down the Corridor Spoke made sure to scan every cell carefully. There was no way he'd miss a multicolored avian, but still. The plan was on the line and he wasn't even sure if Parrot would actually be here. He better be. The voidling would blow up the entire prison before giving up.
But the LAW's builders were in luck today, because one of the rooms did in fact contain Parrot.
Spoke came to a halt, looking at the disheveled figure that huddled in the corner.
He seemed kind of defeated where he sat. In the far end corner of the cell; as far away from the door as possible.
The voidling took a deep breath and put on his signature smile — before bursting in, almost kicking down the door.
"YO PARROT"
This made the other one flinch so bad that his head shot up, hitting the wall behind him, which in turn made him jerk back again. He sunk into himself again, only his wings flared.
"Wha- Spoke?! What are you doing-? Why-"
"Don't you worry my feathered friend because I have come to your rescue!" We'll get you out of your confinement!"
"Why is that still concerning?" Despite his words Parrot stood up. The hopeless state he was in just moments ago seemingly pushed aside.
Spoke gave him a quick once over. The days spent in prison had obviously tired him out.
Well, it would have to do as the two already heard the guards footsteps approaching.
So the idiots couldn't hold them off after all.
