Hioris first day of school is tomorrow. Its already 11pm and he really should go to sleep earlier but hes too busy talking to his online friend, Rin.
He befriended Rin over summer break, they met in a discord server for a horror game. They mostly played games together but sometimes they would chat or as of lately even call for hours
Maybe he should ask Rin when his school is starting.
Hiori: btw when is your school starting?
Rin: tomorrow actually.
Hiori: oh really? Mine too!!
Rin: what school do you go to? Its pretty rare for schools to start on the 7th, its usually like a week later
Hiori: blue lock academy, its a shithole
Rin froze, because what do you mean Hiori answered the exact school Rin has been going to since his first year.
Rin: dude, seriously??
Thats my school.
Hiori: youre joking
Holy shit
Rin: No, im not. Ive been going there since last year.
Hiori: no way.
is Rin your real name if so whats your last name
Rin: yeah its my real name, my last name is Itoshi, why?
Hiori: ITOSHI LIKE ITOSHI SAE??
Rin: …
Yes
Hiori: hes scary isnt he the president of the student council
Im pretty sure he kept me and my friends detention once.
Rin: hes an asshole
Hiori: Okay i believe you. anyway, Ive heard of a rin itoshi from my friends and stuff but i didnt know what he looked like so thats probably you??
I also dont know what you look like 💔 maybe we could show eachother our faces so we recognize eachother at sch?
Rin: ok.
Hiori: wait a sec
Hiori went to find a photo of himself from his gallery, he sent it to rin.
Rin pov:
Rin opened the message, staring at the photo hiori sent for a bit. He wasnt bad looking at all, but he looks so innocent, he looks like he would never swear in games like he does.
He doesnt regocnize him, maybe hes seen him at school. If so he doesnt remember it. He doesnt really look people in the eye anyway.
Rin: Ok, ill probably recognize you.
Hiori: send a photo of yourself now :->
Rin picked the most recent photo of himself he found in his gallery and sent it.
Hiori pov:
Hiori opened the photo.
Okay Rin was lowkey fine as hell, not like he was gonna say THAT to him.
But yeah, hes seen him probably a few times, or maybe hes just thinking that because rin looks so much like his older brother.
Hiori: you look good ^.^
Ok ill look for you
What class are you going to btw?
Ofc were the same age but you might not be in my class.
Rin: class 2B.
Hiori: no way me too???
Were so lucky yo
Rin: its getting late im gonna go to sleep.
You should too.
Hiori: goodnight Rin!
Rin: goodnight
They both put their phones away and went to sleep. The other in a house full of crashes and yelling and the other in a way too quiet house.
Hiori woke up at 8am to his annoying ass alarm, holy fuck he is too tired for any of this. atleast its quieter than usual because his parents arent awake yet so theyre not arguing. Thats the one good thing about mornings.
His school started at 9am and the walk was 15 minutes. He got out of bed and got dressed, hiding all his healed and fresh scars under long sleeves. He went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He even ate breakfast even though he had no appetite.
He takes his phone, headphones, vape and bag before leaving for school. His mind was on Rin the whole walk. ‘I wonder what he’ll be like’ ‘is he as pretty irl?’
He arrived pretty early, maybe he would have time to talk to Rin if he was in the class already?
There werent really many people around since it was still early, he got to his class and he walked in.
No Rin in sight yet but there was Isagi, should he tell him about how his online friend turned out to be Rin? Nahh, it can wait.
Hiori walked over to his friend and spoke in his usual polite manner
“Hey isagi, how was yer break?”
Isagi looked up from his phone and noticed hiori “oh, hey hiori! It was fun, how was yours?”
“It was nice, thank ya.”
As they kept talking hiori didnt notice a certain green haired boy walk in the class.
He also doesnt notice the boy approaching him from behind.
“Hiori.”
He freezes as he hears a familiar voice behind him, he turns around and there he is, Rin Itoshi.
“Hey, Rin..”
Rin stands there, glaring at Isagi.
“Why are you with him?”
“Oh.. ya two know eachother?”
Hiori says unsurely, judging by rins tone, he doesnt like isagi very much.
Isagi finally speaks “yes, dont tell me youre friends with RIN ITOSHI?”
“I am, its a long story anyway.”
Hiori spoke but as he said it he got dragged away by rin into the hallway.
“Hey- what was that for..?” Hiori said as Rin finished dragging him and now just stood there.
“I hate that guy.”
“Oh… well.”
His eyes met rins, who was already staring at him.
“I didnt expect you to be this tall.”
Hiori let out a small laugh “yeah, i get that a lot. Im six feet.”
“Hm.”
Hiori spoke again. “We have like 10 minutes till class even starts, what should we do?”
“Talk.” Rin said bluntly
“Ah.. okay, what d’ya wanna talk about?”
“Just talk to me about anything, were your parents being shitty again?..”
The wall and floor were suddenly very interesting, so interesting that hiori couldnt look anywhere else. “Well, yeah but im used to it”
“I think we should kill them, your parents i mean.”
Hiori looked up from the floor and actually smiled a bit. “Yeah yer onto somethin.”
“But how about ya, you never tell me about yer problems.”
“And im not gonna…”
“Ya dont hafta. Just know that its an option.”
“...”
Ah well, class is starting soon anyway. They should head back. “We should go, no?”
“Yeah, just dont talk to isagi, hes annoying.”
Hiori giggled “No can do, hes my friend aswell.”
Rin scowled, but followed hiori into the class anyway. He went to sit down, eyes on Hiori going to apologise to isagi for earlier.
‘He better fucking like me more than that lukewarm..’ he thought as he kept staring until hiori came to sit down next to him.
Hiori spoke in his soft kansai accent. “Whats the issue with ya and isagi anyway?”
“Hes annoying and i hate him.” He left the ‘you should too’ part out.
“Alrighty… but theres gotta be more to it, ya cant just hate him that much for no reason.”
Rin hesitated for a good ten seconds, then quietly said “my brother told me ‘i wish isagi was my brother instead of you,’...”
Hiori understood instantly.
“Holy shit, yer brother is actually insane. I think we should lowkey kill him too.
“We fucking should.” rin said.
Hiori leaned closer to speak quietly “i know its not much but i definetly prefer ya over isagi. Dont tell him that though.”
Rin felt quite a bit better “...as you should.”
Hiori smiled slightly, noticing how he can make rin feel better.
The teacher walked in and started yapping something but neither of them were concentrating too well.
The day went on pretty well, hiori and rin 9pairing up for something the next class, before they knew it its lunch break.
Rin speaks first, surprisingly. “Do you have any good spot?”
“Yeah, actually! I think i do. Follow me.” Hiori dragged rin to some hallways hes never been in before.
“Were not supposed to be here, by the way.”
Hiori said as he led rin up the stairs to a door. He pushed it open and stepped through it. It was the rooftop, students werent allowed there.
“Its whatever.” Rin spoke as he took in the sight, it was pretty up here.
After they both finished eating while leaning against the railing Hiori broke the silence.
“Weird question but.. do ya smoke or vape?”
Rin sighed and pulled out a cigarette ask and lighter from his pocket. “Yeah, why?”
“No reason.” Hiori pulled out his vape from his bag and took a hit.
Rin light his cigarette and started smoking. His eyes wandered to hiori again
“Vapes are stupid, atleast cigarettes are cool.”
“Whatever ya say..” Hiori laughed
They were in silence for a while. “Yknow its actually really weird that ya go to my school, i would have never known.”
“Its strange, yeah..”
“So rin, when you were talking to me about yer brother we were interrupted by the teacher.”
Rin sighed, he hadnt meant to even say anything. It was an accident and he shouldnt have.
“I didnt mean what i said, forget it.”
“Alright.. but im here for ya if ya need to talk.”
Hiori knew Rin was bullshitting, but hed let it slide this once.
Rin spoke next.
“So who else are you friends with other than that isagi.”
“Oh, well lets see… Nanase, Kurona, Karasu, Otoya. Theres more but those are the closest ones.”
“Dont tell me you mean Karasu and Otoya as in the ones who started vaping in MY skipping class bathroom.”
Hiori giggled.
“Unfortunately that sounds about right…”
After a while of chatting about unimportant things it was time they went to their next classes. The rest of the day passed by not as slow as school usually does, since its the first day. Hiori even introduced rin to his other friends.
